Today at 12:00pm local, the Federation of Earth Sphere Natoins (FESN) declared that due to security concerns in the South Pacific, the Caroline Islands group is hereby considered a strategic security zone of the FESN, necessitating temporary administration by FESN military and governmental officials. At 1:00pm local time FESN maritime infantry forces landed in the capital of Ponhpei, with FESN naval forces holding off the coast.
The FESN henceforth asserts its right to administer and fortify the Carolines in pursuance with its national security goals in the region, including the building of naval and airforce installations, as well as a permanent garrison. The indiginous Caroline Island government has been suspended, and will be replaced by an interim FESN government.
The Federation undertakes this action for a variety of reasons: our military and economic interests in the region, the recent civil unrest on the islands which has threatened the lives and property of FESN nationals and the failure of the Caroline Islands government to address the problem terrorist bases in the Carolines which are routinely used to launch raids on the FESN Merchant Marine. We undertake these steps in the hopes of advancing the interests of both the FESN and the people of the Caroline Islands, stabilizing the region and adding to the global reach of FESN military capabilities.
