QNN Newscast:
Announcer: Following the dissoloution of the Rogue Nation of Karasis, President Smith today ordered the First Mechanized Infantry Division to secure the former nations once largest city of Merkyi. The town, which lies at the mouth of the River of Courage, the once border of Karasis and Quanda, is important to Quandan trade and prosperity. Thus, tanks swooped in.
When asked about further annexation attempts, President Smith had this to say:
"We are not an imperialist nation. We simply annexed this ONE city because it holds a vital interest to our nation's economic and social security, which MUST be preserved!"
Residents and police forces in the town stood down relativley quickly. A few protesters did fire rounds into Quanadan M1A2s and M3s, but were quickly arrested by the far-superior Quandan soldiers.
Mayor Richards was detained following his non-compliance, which throws the town into a sense of disarray. Richards had brought the schools of the city up to par, and has established a strong bond with the people.
Protests are expected later on today. Quanda announces it has no intention of using violence to quash the protest, if it is peaceful.
More on this later.
