Expansion of the Chaffee Military
With the conclusion of talks with Soviet Bloc, the Chaffee Defense Army has acquired 4 ST-11 NGBTs, 6 MMPWV-03 Veprs, 1 SIV-21, 2 SIV-11s (one SAM version), an ATB-98 155mm howitzer, and a single SAH-17 NGAH. They have also agreed to modify one of our 1996 International Trucks to carry and launch cruise missiles, of which we purchased 4 PAC-56A cruise missiles from Soviet Bloc. With these purchases, we will put our old units into storage, these include pickups, mini-vans, vans, buses, trucks, and tractors. These can be used in the event of a battle but will be in storage until that need arises.
Also, for no apparant (to the outside public anyways), Chaffee has finished building its so called 'Battle-train'. The locomotive is an armored 'Super-Chief' diesel engine with plenty of rigid armor. On the locomotive portion of the train are two 7.62mm machine guns and one 12.7mm gun. Behind it, we have three cars. One for supplies and fuel, and the other two to carry men and equipment. On the first transport car, we have an 88mm main gun and two 7.62mm machine guns. On the final transport car, we have two 81mm mortars, one 7.62 MG, and a 12.7mm gun. Each car can carry up to 22 men. The rear transport car can carry 6 men and one pickup-sized vehicle or equipment. Also, the train can be expanded in the future if the need arises. Currently, the BTM-01 (the battle train) is parked on a sectioned of line of rail next to the Chaffee-Lynchburg Farmers Elevator.
The Chaffee Military has also been put on alert for possible action and extensive training has begun at the playground. Rumors are that the training is for urban combat and open-field combat. The Special Forces Farmers are also said to be training, although outside of town at an undisclosed location. The Embden Municipal Guard, with its 12 men, has also begun training with their newly acquired OC-14 Groza's and begun mounted-type training with one ST-11 NGBT and two MMPWV-03 Veprs. The lone SAM unit, an SIV-11, has begun operations inside Chaffee to defend the city at all costs. Eight soldiers of the Chaffee Defense Army have moved to Embden to assist training the soldiers there and act as the defense of the town. The eight soldiers have moved in with one pickup and one MMPWV-03 Vepr.
Another new development: the appearance of seven unknown individuals inside Chaffee. Local speculation is that they're enforcers of the greater county's liquor commission, continually checking up on the Bronco Bar for infractions of the law. Others speculate that these seven are actually highly-trained soldiers from Soviet Bloc here to train and assist the CCA (Community of Chaffee Army) in future operations. Lately, they have been seen with the CCA soldiers at the playground wearing dark woodland/temperate BDUs with small blue patches on their shoulders, each patch with what appeared to be an eagle and a, as of yet, unidentifiable red mark. They have been seen carrying weapons resembling the venerable M-16 except a much more 'high-tech' look, frightening some local citizens with their low profile and heavy weapons. They have also been seen training with the CCA wearing their dark uniforms, heavy packs, armor, vests, and a helmet with a visor. (Information provided by Soviet Bloc)
Another development, the nation of Soviet Bloc has established a small presence in Chaffee with its embassy, located in Herb Jensen's old garage. The facility currently employs two Chaffee citizens, one as a janitor, the other as a technician. It is rumored that four Soviet Bloc civilians and two Soviet Bloc military personnel occupy the structure.
The President/Mayor/Bartender of Chaffee, Rick Schroeder declined to comment on the situation.

Soviet Bloc Presence in Chaffee
The Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc currently maintains a small presence in Chaffee. We have stationed three OMON intelligence/counter-terrorist soldiers and four of our elite SpetsNaz soldiers. Each soldier is armed with an RSR-39 assault rifle with tactical flashlights, Kobra red-dot sights, forward hand grip, and a few are outfitted with grenade launchers. These soldiers actively participate in the defense of the city and train the local military to defend itself.
OMON Sniper training with the local forces inside the city. This sniper is outfitted with the JIIRSS visor system except the visor is folded up and over helmet.

Picture of our elite SpetsNaz. Currently, the SpetsNaz within Chaffee are outfitted with black BDUs and temperate climate BDUs (not the three-color desert BDUs shown). Our SpetsNaz are outfitted with the Vepr Combat Enhancement System which provides extensive ballistics protection, enhanced camoflauge, enhanced communications, enhanced equipment carrying abilities, and a more congruent subsystem layout.

Notes on the SpetsNaz-
Helmet- The helmet is a grade III ballistics helmet (Grade III in the ARSB means it is of optimal protection [high-grade ballistics prevention], lighter weight, and covers the same amount of the head than the Grade I helmet) joined with the Joint Infantry Information Relay and Surveillance System (JIIRSS, developed by Exonerate). The JIIRSS is an advanced visor-based system that relays the following information to the particular soldier, his squad, his military group, and his commanders: satellite/command center uplink (for quick battlefield surveillance), nightvision (without bulky headgear but uses a nightvision receiver mounted on right shoulder or helmet), heat detection (also uses a sensor on the right shoulder or helmet), image resolution enhancement, millimetric wave radar (using a small system on the right shoulder or helmet that can detect metal at medium ranges and in low-light, poor visibility conditions), weapons camera view, and the communications link, vital to team and unit survival. This system can also receive and display a GPS map on the visor.
Another feature of this helmet, is it is self-sealed with its own air filtration system. All commands to cycle/toggle information displays for this visor system is located on a keypad on the arm.
Armor- All armor is capable of stopping most pistol and rifle rounds using extensive fiber structures and ceramic inserts. This also improves the SpetsNaz soldier's ability to survive explosions and close-proximity grenade blasts. Armor covers the shoulders, back (limited), chest, abdomen, groin, upper arms, and parts of the leg.
Joint Weight Distribution Carrying System (JWDCS)- This system utilizes a light-weight aluminum frame that is specifically molded to provide maximum comfort for a soldier. This pack distributes the weight evenly among the shoulders, waste, and hips, meaning the soldier can carry more equipment and tire less easily.
Weapon- The SpetsNaz soldier with the Vepr system uses an RSR-39XA Assault rifle specially modified for the SpetsNaz. The RSR-39XA is the base version of the RSR-39 plus a few extras such as tactical gear (flashlights, red-dot sight, etc.) and a camera system that sends signals to the helmet which then displays the picture on the visor, meaning this soldier can get behind a safe, sturdy object and stick the rifle over the object and line up the crosshairs and fire, without ever looking down the barrel of the weapon. The toggle switch to activate the camera system is located on a keypad on the arm as well as a quick-cycle button on the weapon itself.
Systems- The SpetsNaz soldier with the Vepr system is outfitted with a computer system that matches to the contours of their body. The computer operates a Local Area Network with his team for instant communication and transferring of data. The system can also send information to another position by use of satellites or other communications systems (such as a communications vehicle or tower). The computer also feeds real-time surveillance from drones or delayed surveillance from satellites to the wearer's helmet and if another soldier's computer is damaged, another soldier's computer can relay the surveillance to that soldier's helmet. The computer also relays all information from sensors and devices to the soldier's helmet and/or to other soldiers.
