United Elias

Under a $8.55 billion devlopment plan the Elias Navy has contracted the Elias Marine Corporation and its subsidaries to construct two new aircraft carriers which are desigend to be significantly larger than the existing Victor class (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77139&highlight=) which is the only type of conventional carrier in service. Although this type has proven itself in many operations such as the invasion of Gabon, it is not large enough in itself to provide air support for the Elias Navy's larger battlegroups. Providing to carriers for certain fleets is also a great mismanagement of assets and exceedingly expensive. The current class will eventually be increased to six and the new larger class will probably consist ofthree to six vessels. Unlike the Victor class carrier, the new class designated as the EM-260 will be nuclear powered offering nearly unlimited range and excellent performance.
The first of the class, the ENS Unity has been laid down and is currently under construction at Abdullah Naval ship yard on the Red Sea.
