Would anyone be interested in a modern tech vs fantasy war?

Just a general enquiry.

What kind of fantasy? Space ships and such, or Dragons and magic?

Its still an iffy subject, this is more of an idea in the making, if you get my drift.

But I was thinking along the lines of genuine fantasy rather than space-tech.

But then again...

I would join something like that. The magical type things would have to be limited in some way though. (Don't want anyone with a psychic dragon that can see the future, and teleport out of the way of incoming missiles, and shoot magic laser beams out of his eyes, right?)

Well, realistic as far as fantasy can go. I mean, Dragons could engage aircraft I suppose, but they would go down to missiles. Seeing as I fight with modern - near future tech anyway.

Edit: A proper war....it would be interesting to see. Any space tech nations would have to be limited in their strike options.

We could have one nation attempting a revolutionary time travel device, and from there it can horribly wrong, see new dimensions opened up...etc etc.

Would be very fun. Harriers Vs Dragons, Mecha Vs Giants...

I would think about joining this. Wonder if a magical missile can penetrate the aromr on a T-7 Gilgamesh. Hmmmm....

DGNT is pretty reckless in its Temporal/Black hole tech experiments, we could 'accidentaly' break into about twelve alternate realities at once, unleash all sorts of nasties :)

I'm already doing something like that in another thread. My nation has elves and dragons, is modern with tanks and carrier battle groups, and future with Star Wars stuff.

Generally something similar, but on a smaller scale. Generally we would want different and unique armies rather than mixes of modern/fantasy stuff.

So, will everyone who's interested please sign up?

also there is a game like what you are proposing i have never played it but it is called RIFTS. Basically through some experiment gone wrong all the pyschic ley lines on earth explode opening it up to almost every dimension in the multi-verse. Humanity struggles to regain its place on a planet which was once theirs. It would be cool to run something like that...that we we could have modern tech nation evolving into future tech and future tech combing with majic it would be crazy think about it

FYI, I'm a future tech nation. I've got powered armor and lasers and such.

I'd be interested. I'm sorta post-modern tech (mostly modern with some ship-mounted lasers for close-in defence), and developing some paranormal capacities (i.e. very limited magic and psychic abilities).

Fantasy is better than modern. We are limited by science in a modern war. However, in a fantasy, the laws of physics are bent and broken, and we can do anything we want.

Though a mixture of both fantasy and modern elements of warfare is quite a novel idea.

I would be down...If it were written well enough, hmm. May'be a freak occurence could somehow place troops belonging to Modern/Fantasy/Future armies somewhere...where they promptly start duking it out.

I'm interested, but be aware that I'm doing a lot of other things right now.

My nation is modern-tech, but my citizens are Wyrms; reptilian, scaled, clawed, about eight feet on average. I'm also future-tech; the Wyrms make up for their lack of dexterity with tool packs, which are controlled directly by implants.

And I'm also fantasy. The Wyrms are descended from a group of troops who were routed through a malfunctioning Gate onto Newhome, a planet with three Gs of gravity, where magic didn't work.

After about 500 years, they finally managed to build the New Gate, which worked in the absence of magic, and attemped to return home. They failed; they ended up on NS Earth. Magic works here, but to a lesser extent. I wrote up a nice essay (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127421&highlight=) on how magic in Khrrck works, too.

How about a war with modern troops but magic and things are allowed. It is a suggestion.

Is it too late for me to join? A fantasy nation making an open summons for help would be a perfect entrance for me....
The Accursed Legion uses low tech weapons and a certain amount of magic.
They are (unsurprisingly) accursed... I'll go into more detail later.

If I could join... I'm slightly future-tech, no FTL yet, but have a small space fleet, colonized and terraformed a few places. I've got psionics in my nation too, although most are unidentified so far.

My KASS missiles will take out any armor, as long as it's less than six feet thick, so probably yes.

What it's made of doesn't matter... it's the thickness that counts. You could armor something with six feet of balsa wood and a KASS missile couldn't touch it.

My forces, a bit old. Well, my forces as a nation of 300 mil. So I can call up more soldiers in case these aren't enough.

My forces are from the under-empire of the skaven. They are near modern, but with the help of magic they have created techno-sorcerious lasers.
