Jane's Information Group: Zoogiedom International News: Gecko Lives
A project long shrouded with secrecy has today flown at last. The Defense Agency has announced that a project conceived of many years ago* has finally taken flight - a project darker than even the ZaS-27, which had been publicized much before its release to the public.
The Gecko project was headed by Zoogie Aerospace, an effort to develop an advanced strike fighter with unprecedented first-shot-first-kill capability. It was designed to fly in, fly out, destroy the enemy, and not be detected. It is also a very maneuverable aircraft, fullfilling a similar role as the ZaS-26, except on a lighter scale.
In many ways the project goals are similar to the venerable Joint Strike Fighter. However, it will outperform the Joint Strike Fighter in nearly every way possible. Its avionics suite will be infinitely more advanced; its thrust vectoring technology more extensive. Its systems more refined, its gear more reliable. And last but not least, its manueverability would put the JSF to shame. It is also cost-effective, both per-unit and maintenance wise.
This aircraft will also be put to use in the navy, to effectively replace our Sea Harrier Mk. 2's, equipped with top-of-the line ASTOVL technology.
The first prototype flew today, a CTOL variant, landing on a base at one of the three islands that separate Zoogiedom from the rest of the world.
The project is making endless milestones at a rapid rate, and should be available for release by two years...(1-2 RL weeks)
