The region's name is the Allied Socialist Union, but offically, it is the Allied Socialist Defense Union. To get the password, please telegram me.

The following are the rules of the Union (if any member wants them to be changed or add some, please tell me by telegram)

1. No warmongering. We will only support you if there is a justified reason or you or the region is threatened. Fighting an unjustified war or using WMDs on a pre-emptive basis is looked down upon and displinary action may be taken by the ASDU. In the case a member nation or nations is threatened, all member nations are encouraged to assist the threatened nation. Mutual protection treaties may be arranged and enforced inbetween individual nations, as long as they follow the rules of the ASDU. The only nation that may order all nations to be at alert or mobilize for war is the Chairman nation.

2. No member nation of the Defense Union may exploit other member nations.

3. Although socialism is the main platform of the ASDU, private enterprise and free-market systems are allowed, as long as progressive or socialist leaning labor laws are in place and strongly enforced. Having social welfare, public health care, education and social equality a funding priority is stressed.

4. UN membership is voluntary.

5. Each member nation's soverignity is respected and may operate how it chooses to, but, it must follow the rules of the ASDU and must meet these following requirments:

-Be a left leaning moderate/progressive/socialist/communist/left-libertarian government

-Help maitain a dignified image of the ASDU

-Help out the Union somehow

-Help out fellow members in need if able to in military power or non-military methods

I'll join, but not the region.

I'll join the Union for defenceive purposes, but again, I'm not gunna switch regions.

Hm... I support it in principal, but nations like Russian Forces turn me off from pledging full support.

Alright, if you do not join the Union, you are considered to be an assosiate of the Union, however, to be a full fledged member, you must join the region. If you are happy where you are now, but like the Union, we will more than welcome puppet nations, as some of our members have puppets in the ASDU.

Greetings from Xeraph!

I am interested in opening lines of communication with ASDU. As you may or may not know, Xeraph was the de-facto ruler of the Alliance Regioni Militaria (ARM), which has since been dissolved due to a large number of member nations wishing to become indepedent.
ARM was a member of NWO, and a founding member of GAPTS (Grand Alliance of Peace through Strength).
The dissolution of ARM has led to the Xeraphian Federation, comprised of 9 nations in 1 region. Each nation in the federation is sovreign, but recognises Xeraph as the central government.
As you probably also know, we had a small problem a few days ago with Hogsweat unilaterally "joining" ASDU to GAPTS. I did not know he did not speak for all ASDU members. As far as I'm concerned at this point, ASDU is being held in a temporary condition pending ASDU discussion of the situation. Of course, if ASDU wishes to be allied to GAPTS, it is more than welcome.
GAPTS is currently comprised of 4 alliances: Verboten Lufttewaffe, the Empire of Crossman, The Kingdom of Austica, and the Xeraphian Federation.

I would like to ask for membership.

Xeraph, we will be willing to initiate diplomatic relations with your nation and GAPTS, but the ASDU does need to discuss collectively before joining any alliance. I, on behalf of the ASDU, hope for peace and prosperity for both of our honorable organizations.

Communist Louisiana, I am glad to see that considering we are close allies. However, if you do not wish to leave your current region, puppets are accepted (several of our members have joined using puppets.)

Could you clarify a few queries I have about your allied status with members?

Firstly, if a member nation is attacked for a good reason, such as a retaliation against the member nations agression; would you assist the member nation without question or are you prepared to listen to reason?

Secondly, does your alliance have a code of conduct for member nations or a set of rules they must follow. If so what are the proceedures for investigating breakages in such codes or rules and suggested punishments?

Finally, does your alliance background check all aplications for membership or does it just accept any nations with the "socialist" tag on it?

Alright, first, Hattia, I will give the password to our hopefully two next members.

Now to Iuthia,
Although I can not guarntee all ASDU members to do the same as my self, I would defend a member nation if it were attacked and it did not provoke it. Although the ASDU does promise mutual defense, no nation is obliged to help if the nation in question was the attacker.

About rules, there are rules (on the first page) and they have been pretty much followed to the t. However, there have only been a few instances when we had to use a procedure if a nation broke a rule.

Since I am in charge of recruiting, I try to do background checks, but it is a little difficult, so I am not as choosy as I could be. I have rejected nations before, but most nations we accept have a positive image in the international community, both by socialists and free-marketers. We try to have a positive image of the ASDU by being peaceful and aviod war at almost any cost.

Very well, we would ask you to make sure that all nations understand these rules to the fullest, especially the first rule against warmongering... and perhaps the image rule too.

We have noted that some of your members are concidered "undesirables" for their agressive politics and general bad reputation for being rather undiplomatic when dealing with situations. It is our hope that these "undesirables" will fully understand that their actions, however soveriegn from from ASDU alliance they may be, will reflect on the alliance on the whole.

As such we hope that they will, in the future, be careful to follow your rules to assure that the ASDU keeps it's good reputation and good relations with Iuthia and allies.

We shall continue to support the ASDU politically for as long as they maintain their intergity and follow their own rules, which assure us that they are both honest and peace seaking. Should you require assistance in defence against unproked attacks Iuthia shall remain prepared to help through either military or non-military aid.

We are sorry that we have to be so inquisitive about your rules, recruiting and policies but we feel that it is important to understand how an alliance works so that we know what channels we have to go through to report diplomatic problems that may occur with member nations... seeing as we are not completely supportive of all nations membership.

However, we will not go into specifics because we beleive in second chances... perhaps through being part of a larger more responcable alliances member nations will make sure to be responcable in the future.

Iuthia, you have every right to be watchful of those who you support. This insures your nation's best intersts and I take no offense of you being curious. Currently, there is debate going on about voting in a single President for the ASDU, so we are busy trying to get everything sorted out, but I assure you I will try my best, along with my fellow comrades to try to maek the ASDU as peaceful as possible and have the most respectable image possible.
