There has recently been questioning among the Domonion of Ixthus (DOI) Government as to if a recent descovery in beam weapon technology should be taken further.
The recent descovery is of a Particle Cannon that is powerful enough to obliterate whole isleands if used for destruction, but it also has qualeties that could be used for the good of mankind. One of the major of these qualeties is that it can be configured to also produce huge amounts of kenetic energy, which could in theory propel a space craft up to almost the speed of light.
The question that the government needs advice on is should it be taken further? As due to the type of technology, the main risk is that for one, the other will be easily possible with similar configuration.
Also its further devolipment could be considered as devolipment of WMDs.
