Mass crowds gathered today for several grand military processions as Colericans celebrate Emperor Maderic Thra's birthday, today he has turned thirty-two. However, some bit of sombering feelings still overshadowed the day as the two hundredth United Empire soldier was killed in Isla De Plata today.
Private First Class Mazalla Jafc, was carrying out a sentry patrol when he was struck by an enemy mortar. Magistrate of State, Kressi Thra, had this to say in light of the two hundredth soldier killed: "We have a duty--no, an obligation--as the United Empire of Colerica, to ensure the freedom of the people of Isla De Plata. For too many years, the Uraine regime has had a stranglehold on that nation and its innocent people, but not anymore. War is war. And as unfortunate as it is, soldiers die in war. It's an occupational hazard they have to deal with. He [Jafc] was, like all other soldiers in the United Empire's military, was a very brave person. My heart goes out to his family and to the families of all those who have died."
