Port Shard

04-03-2004, 18:36
During the recent claiming of an approx. 1/100 of Peru (OOC: I do NOT want this to become a bitch-fest on claiming RL nations. If you've got a problem with claiming RL nations, imagine I claimed part of an imaginary nation called Peru), The Iron Fragment came across a previously uncharted island during a heavy storm. The island is about the same size as The Fragment mainland (as in not very large), and has a large bay where the expeditionary ship went for cover from the storm.
After establishing contact from Peru and sending the coordinates of the island, The Fragment has deemed the island to be a good place to set up a waypoint for Fragment ships traveling to and from The Fragment and the Peruvian colony. An expeditionary force has been sent to begin construction of a port in the bay of the island. The first dock will be finished in approx. 2-3 (NS) weeks. The plan is to have five of these large wharfs, and the whole project should take a few (NS) months.
Once Port Shard, as the island has begun to be called by Fragment leaders, is complete, the port will be open for Fragment ships, but also other ships traveling in the Pacific. Fragment friends are allowed at all times there, while other nations' ships are also welcome, though they might have to be searched and questioned for their intentions (all part of security, mind you). While military ships will be allowed, personnel are kindly asked to be unarmed when off their vessels. Also, the crew of all ships will be warned in advance that Fragment personnel consists of mechanized A.I., and if you have trouble mingling with such people, you are advised to stay on your ship or avoid Port Shard altogether. Current friends of The Iron Fragment are Magas Volaer and all members of the GDI.
While this new waypoint will be another deduction on The Fragment's resources, it will certainly help any Fragment ships traveling through, and help cement friendship with other nations. Peace to you all.
