Economic Sanctions against Arda by the Grendels

Unleashing the Dogs of War,

The Indomitable Borderlands of the Grendels has put into place severe economic sanctions against the Region of Arda, in retaliation for their lack of diplomacy, hypocrisy, and general RP snobbery of Melkor Unchained.

Having decided to snub the Grendels in their recent participation of their little war, due to one of the largest economic powers in Nation States not having as many posts of "bump" and "oh yeah" as some of the other post whores in the Nation States Forum and being on the wrong side. Having gone to the aid of Treznor, after they requested our assistance, Melkor Unchained has decided that due to us not being on their side for the second time and using the much more wieldy Wysterian Forum, that we just don't exist. This despite Melkor Unchained doing their little alliance exclusively on an offsite forum smacks of hypocrisy. So no Dire Bear Soda products will be sold in the Region of Arda and we will not accept products from Arda from this day forth. Let them drown in Fresca!

Paws extended in Friendship,

We of course welcome our allies from Sisgardia, who have not forgotten that during their time of the need the Grendels came to your defense against predatory forces from Arda that sought to invade your Region, dismissing it as small and unlikely to be able to mount a defence. The aggressors from Arda were of course wrong.

The new Math that they use for economics in Arda is one of the reasons why their Nations will never top the Economic UN Reports. So very often on the first page or near it on all Economic Rankings, the Grendels today were 3rd of 124 966 Nation States in the World, scattered amongst 13 943 different Regions. When Adejaani mysteriously defended Arda, a Region of a mere 23 Nations, boasting that the loss of their market would leave a gaping hole in our economy, we say that Arda is a just a grain of sand on the vast beach of the Grendel’s market share. We would encourage other Nations to join our economic sanctions against Arda.

If we needed your filthy products, we'd have bought them. We'll do better without your corruption. This affects none of us. So play away with your ploys of self-empowerment. See how far along they achieve for you. It will all be laughable and forgotten within weeks. We make what we need; nothing more & nothing less.

Unleashing the Dogs of War,

The Indomitable Borderlands of the Grendels will see our Economic Sanctions through, during the conflict between Melkor Unchained and his flunkies versus the Triumvirate of the Yut and their allies. While they comprise but a speck of our Nation States market, since the not so very old Melkor Unchained has decided to aloofly dismiss us from the conflict without cause, we will continue the fight in support of our allies with our massive economic power, which dwarfs any in the miniscule Region of Arda.

*shakes his head*

So thats what Trez told you, eh? That I'm ignoring you?

What I TOLD him [if he'd have cared to listen] was that I don't like off-site RP and it's my policy to treat off forum RP as nonexistant. Why? Because it's impossible to keep track of them all. Hundreds of off-site forums are all over the place, and it's unreasonable of anyone to ask that they be read in their entirety in order to understand someone else's storyline. Anything relevant to NS should be able to be researched via the main site.

To give you an example, an ally of mine [Kalessin] invaded the Vortex Corporation a while back and after some research he found some weaknesses and moved to exploit them. TVC then whipped out some s00per d00per n00ker package he got from the Sisgardia forums. What's stopping me from completely making up stuff, and saying I RP'd it in the Arda forums, which are locked to unregistered members?

In short, its not that you don't exist. That couldn't be farther from the truth. It's that due to my lack of knowledge about your storyline [and mostly offsite nation development], the Grendels is more or less a latent power. Yes, you're big. Yes, you have OMG UBER-1337 rankings. But rankings alone are not the meter by which 'superpowers' are judged. To me, one's power ranking is a composite of one's UN rankings -and- their In Character interactions and developments with other nations on the NationStates forum--not an offsite one.

Its not to say forums arent a good place to plot and stuff--thats what I do with mine, even. But I do not RP on them because its not fair to the rest of the NS community. I hope you see my point.

annnd ICly:

"You know, these sanctions just might concern us...

..if we'd have traded with you in the first place. But we didn't so, no harm no foul, eh? Our intra-regional market is large enough for our own purposes. You're pissing in the wind, my friend."

We would consider supporting this initiative, due to the fact that we indeed are in the debt of the Grendels. However, since we expect this to turn into a semi-IC, semi-OOC bitchfest soon, we will stay out of this.

OOC: IC sanctions for OOC actions? Looks that way to me. I also wonder if you're writing this with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

OOC: Woo... gnolls rule, one of my favorite races in D&D...

*cough*

That said this does look to be IC actions for OOC reasons, though I can think of many IC reasons to dislike Melkor, though much less that wouldn't look hypocritical...
