The Dominion would like to submit the F-37E Shalakh ASTOVL Fighter for consideration in your competition. While we do not have a picture for this craft, there is a comprehensive description in the vehicle notes.
F-37E Shalakh ASTOVL Fighter
Although saddled with the ASTOVL designation, the Shalakh, or "Cormorant" is actually more accurately an advanced VTOL craft, capable of lifting off vertically with a practical payload, and settling in to an easy landing.
The Shalakh is a more economical alternative to other "Joint Strike Fighter" style aircraft. The most important step towards cost-effectiveness is the extensive use of off-the-shelf hardware in the aircraft's construction. The L41-KC-119 Augmented Afterburning Turbofan, for instance, shares many key componants with a number of other Kielly-Caesar engines. In terms of electronics, the LWTRS was an outgrowth of the earlier WATRS system intended to upgrade the DAF's F-16C Falcons, but with the decision to adopt the Shalakh in their place, it has been incorporated into the newer fighter. The Supercooled IRST unit used by the Shalakh is the same model, with minor modifications used in essentially every other Vega aircraft since the inception of the company, but most impressive is MIDIS.
Developed by Ericsson, MIDIS is a modular system of integrated sensors and defensive electronics capable of providing a wide-range of capabilities. In its configuration on the F-37E, it functions as a Radar Warning Reciever, an Encrypted Tactical Data Link, and an Electronic Countermeasures Suite, albiet, not one as powerful as the suite on a larger aircraft. The grand majority of production and development costs for the fighter stemmed from the Kielly-Caesar L121 Vertical Lift Engine Core and the Hailstorm semi-guided cannon. As the Hailstorm cannon has been omitted from the Export-variant, it is available at a discounted cost compared to the domestic variant.
Born from the imagination of the Vega Aerospace Consortium, the Shalakh bears their usual unconventional appearance, with a broad, but slender fuselage that almost seems to be part of the wing, a dorsally mounted intake for the engine behind the cockpit, and twin tailerons jutting out at angles from just aft of the jet engine's exhaust. Composed largely of carbon fibre composites, and incorporating radar absorbant materials into the fighter's construction, the F-37E is quite the stealthy craft, with a low radar cross signature. As well, the jet engine's exhaust is mounted in a trough that allows the hot exhaust air to mix with cool exterior air, thus lessening the craft's infrared signature.
While the original variant of this fighter incorporates the new Hailstorm semi-guided 20mm cannon, the export-variant Shalakh has had it removed and replaced with a conventional single-barrel 20mm cannon from Oerlikon. The fighter was essentially designed around the gun, built specifically to give the weapon a craft to carry it, but designers were able to rebalance and redesign it to carry a more conventional weapon. As well, even without making use of the four underwing hardpoints, the F-37E can carry a pair of AIM-9X Sidewinders, and two additional weapons, either a pair of AMRAAMs, or any of a range of Air-to-Surface munitions, including the 1,000lb variant of the JDAM, and the Harpoon anti-shipping missile. Flying "clean", it can infiltrate an enemy's airspace, carry out its mission, and exfiltrate, all while escaping radar detection.
One mission which the designers envisioned would involve the Shalakh penetrating enemy airspace, using the MIDIS system's Radar Warning Detectors to locate the opponant's AWACS assets and defeating them with heat-seeking missiles to allow more conventional craft the advantage in follow-on attacks. As well, small flights of F-37E fighters could once again penetrate enemy airspace and engage and destroy enemy air defence assets such as Surface-to-Air Missile sites and Anti-Air Artillery, again in preparation for follow-on air strikes. Using the wing-mounted hardpoints, the number of available missions increases dramatically.

F-33 Heron
http://prototypes.free.fr/vtol/nouv1/hawkerP.1214-3_03.jpg
Primary Function: VTOL Carrier Aircraft
Power Plants: 1 Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-200
Length: 40 feet
Wingspan: 30 feet
Range: 3,000 miles
Ceiling: 40,000 feet
Speed: 1,700 mph
Armament: 4 internal Weapons bays, 8 AMRAAMS or 4 bombs of various different weights.
Cost: $45,000,000
The F-33 Heron is the cutting edge of VTOL/low observability aircraft, the inverted swept wing design and powerful thrust vectored engine make it small and manueverable. Easily the best choice for a fighter/bomber who is expected to come home alive.
This is the aircraft Scellia has to offer, we hope that you will chose to take our offer and our conviction that this is the best VTOL fighter.
The Zoogie People, would you please notify us when your ZF-43 Hydra is completed? We are interested in upgrading our carrier aircraft fleet, and we think a VTOL aircraft would compliment our new Celerity-Class Carrier quite well.

Sure, I'll remember to tell you. A note - Penguisiana and I are collaborating on this project, although I presume that it is being led by Zoogie Aerospace Corp. We are sharing sales and production rights...
OOCe, it's been bumped up to 2nd priority behind the not-too-long descriptions I need for Sharkishki. I will start right away.
