The Celerity-Class Carrier
In the modern world, it is being increasingly apparent that the traditional rules of warfare are changing. Wars in the past have called upon large, powerful, and expensive ships in order to bring about enough firepower to defeat the enemy. However, with the sudden surge in smaller, localized conflicts, response time and mobility have become more and more important. That is why, we, in conjunction with Unum Veritas and with support from many other nations, have developed the Celerity-Class Carrier

The new carrier, as you may have noticed, is smaller and contains less aircraft than the traditional fleet carrier. The hull design is a trimaran design, allowing for much higher speeds, efficiency, and maneuverability. Furthermore, the reduction in size also translates to a reduction in price. There are basically three hulls, and in the case of a breach in one, the other hulls remain functional, and so ship can still remain seaworthy, thus making it more durable. In addition, the middle hull is protected by the two hulls on both sides. As a benefit of the trimaran hull, the engine heat is directed between the two outside hulls, thus greatly reducing the heat signature.
Another of the innovative new technologies the Celerity-Class Carrier uses is the electromagnetic launch catapult, which replaces the traditional steam catapult. The advantages lie in the decrease in recharge time, which allows for the faster launch of aircraft, and are also more durable.
We have replaced the aging Phalanx CIWS mount with the new MDG-351 Millennium Gun (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/systems/mg.htm), a multi-mission capable system. The MDG-351 fires at about 1,000 Rounds Per Minute, and utilizes the upgraded Ahead round, which disperses into 152 sub-projectiles. Tests have shown it to be lethal lethal against aircraft and helicopters at 3.5 km, against cruise missiles at 2 km, and against anti-ship sea-skimming missiles at 1.5 km.
