Greetings young nations!

The government of Oshima and Izu proposes the formation of a new alliance, exclusively for newly emerged nations.

The February League is a loose organisation dedicated to the support of young nations, with the intention of helping them find a safe, secure and satisfying place in the international community!

OOC: It's a sad fact, but many opportunities in the forums are closed to new nations, generally on the grounds that more established players don't want a load of nOObs ruining things.

Whilst I have some sympathy with this (hey, no one wants a fool who can't RP charging about), I do feel that it can be hard for a well meaning newcomer to break in to the action- simply because his nation is a few days old.

So, I'm hoping that new nations (February 2004 or later) will have a look here, and hopefully find others in the same position.

I haven't got any a firm plans for the Laegue (yet!), but I'm open to suggestions and intend to see what happens...

IMPORTANT: This isn't a ticket to a power trip. If your idea of RP-ing is to declare war on everyone in sight with an army you really aren't big enough to have, then this isn't the forum for you...

So please- let's keep things sensible :D

No I am not offering support, so much as MUTUAL SUPPORT. Amazingly, not every alliance involves a major power with its puppets.

The idea is that if you get enough small countries together, together they become greater than the sum of their parts.

The R.O.C expresses interest in becoming an associate member of the February League to support in it's establishment and defence.

ATA is right in a way. The New Nations Alliance (NNA) was an alliance made with similar intentions and ideals.

Principally, we felt that new nations need to come together and support one another, and through our collective strength we can overcome any odds, even stronger nations.

The NNA is based upon equal representation with larger nations having an equal say with smaller nations. In December, a small group of us (when we were newbs) began the alliance which had swelled to include over two dozen nations founded primarily between December 2003 and February 2004 as well as numerous allied groups.

The NNA welcomes the February League and wishes it only success and prosperity. If O&I requires any assistance please feel free to ask.

OOC: I must agree that this is a very good idea. After the recent argument with Foe Hammer about their "declared" right to all RL Boeing designs, I've come to feel that several older nations are allowed to be bullies and condensending just because of their size.

Now, I might invite you to join in a historical war character Rp (1870 tech) that I am planing and allow other members of this orginization to join if they so desire.

This is as much to demonstrate your Rping skill and to illustrate the usefulness of tactics. (You can't throw planes and tanks around in mass squadrons and threaten to use WMD which are common newb problems.)

The Dominion would like to express its support of the February League, as well as congradulating Oshima and Izu in general and Prince Antoku in particular on their wisdom in proposing this solution. Welcome to the international community. You will do well here.

Cawhaba- I would be interested in this 1870 tech RP, (O&I started off in a samurai culture region :) ), and yes, I reckon it would help to separate the Rp-ers from the nOObs! So what's the setting- Franco-Prussian war??

OOC: This isn't a bad idea.
I remember, February last year, I and some other n00bs started up an alliance of n00bs.
But we carried on, becoming one of the most famous alliances in NS history.
And the name?
The name, was The GDODAD...

(Actually, this is a puppet of the nation Alcona and Hubris)

No the Cawhabaian War of Rule of 1867.

Basiclly an offshoot of the Austro-Prussian war of 1866 (obscure reference) when Hamburg was over run by the Prussians and lost it's independence. Cawhaba's last King was their ally and he died in a small naval battle with Prussia.

This has left a problem in the inheritance as the next 'ruler' is only eight, female, and some claim illigitamate. At the same time the Queen Dowager has a child in the womb (Lady Macbeth here). There are also several more cousins to the late ruler who feel that the "Baseborn B***" children should never wear the crown, they should. And just to make life intresting, there is a republican group afoot who thinks the monarchy should just be replaced.

(I should note that historically, that the daughter of the winner marries the Duke of Alcona...which explains why Cawhaba joins the Dual Duchy. I made the puppet to avoid Backhanded Bear Traps...)

I like the sound of that Cawhaba! I'm interested...

As to the League: I've been contacted by a January nation who is keen to be involved (which is fine with me- hey, no one here wants discrimination!)

At the moment, the League is certainly generating some favourable responses, in the main; now I reckon it's time to start sorting things out a bit more.

So right now I'm looking for other interested nations who would like to join! Let's get a firm membership :)

Ultimately, if this is succesful (and that's a big IF at this stage) we may want to develop things ( aforum perhaps???). If so, I'll need help organising that sort of thing.

Hea all, I TM'd Oshima and Izu and I was allowed associate member status. But anyhow, it looks like we have enough members here so that it would be worth our while to get a message board up and running. I'll go and do that now, I'll post the link later, but come on people - let's make the February Alliance one to remember!

Which is good news- the more, the merrier.

And just to reiterate, although primarily an alliance suitable for new nations, we will not turn away slightly older states, especially ones who agree with the concept :D

That's the link to the message boards! The proposal to join is still open for all February nations and I'd say the early March ones (no later than March 6, the end of the first week). So, about the boards - all members are encouraged to join, it's free and quick - but if you're not an approved member, don't join or you'll be banned.

One more thing: If you're having a problem joining, please send me a TM and/or post it here and I'll help you out.

I have realized that within some of the proceedings, a requirement was set that allowed only nations that were founded on or before March 6th. I am sad to say that my nation was unable to fall within those guidelines, having been founded on March 9th. We are very sorry for our clerical error in not catching this the first time around. We still hope to join the February Alliance if you are willing to bend the rules a bit, but if you refuse our petition, the government of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka fully understand and wish you, the Alliance, and its member nations the best of wishes in your future endeavors.

To Monte Ozarka: I was most interested to here of your application.

As to the March 6th rule, O&I is willing to overlook the requirement in your case, subject to consultation with my colleague Majesto.

Ever hear of strength in numbers? If done correctly (and it probably won't be...but) a large group of young nations could become very powerful.

First, Monte Ozarka, I could see no reason why you couldn't be allowed to join. You are now a full member and are free to go and join the message boards.

Secondly, Steel Butterfly. What would make you say that this isn't being done right? This alliance was well thought out by Oshima & Izu and myself, don't worry about us, we'll do fine.

Thirdly, we're still looking for new members. Join up, and let's show the world that new nations can still be poweful.

Hey, my nation is just a few hours old. I would like to join your alliance.

I'd kind of like to get involved with NS roleplay a bit more. I'm not a new nation (just resurrected because I was busy for a few weeks :-P) so I don't think I actually qualify, but I'm wondering if anyone has anywhere else I could go for support? I've never really been a roleplay person either, so I'm feeling too shy to just jump into things.

The government of the Dominion of Upper Cet Kola Ytovia is currently debating the merits of joining this alliance. Our nation began as a collection of refugees from many different nations, so we place a high value on our independence. However, we also recognize that we are still a small nation in a world were countries with 2 billion+ populations and vast militaries abound, not to mention terrorists and the occasional rogue state with an itchy trigger finger.

This alliance is particularly interesting, as our allies would be of similar size and thus our relationships would be based upon mutual interest rather than domination by a much larger power. Still, we really like our independence. We will continue to debate the issue, and let you know of our decision.

OOC: Yeah, I'm, like, RP-ing a democracy here, so a bit of schitzophrenia and unwilling to upset my status quo is involved here. :P

Lyrica: I don't think so, you're not a new nation... But I'd just jump into RPing. You have a very large population and could probably fight almost anyone around here. When I first came to NS, I was shy too - but after a couple of posts, you'll get used to it. However, if you'd like to become an associate member, I'll talk to Oshima & Izu, my colleauge. I'll TM you some time tomorrow.

Drexel Hill & Ubumedu: You two nations do know that you fall outside of the March 6th cut off date. I'd be fine with letting you two nations in, but I will need to ask my colleauge Oshima & Izu. I'll send TMs some time tomorrow.

Upper Cet Kola Ytovia: This alliance is made up of members like you, all of us are fairly new nations that want to RP, but really can't because of our sizes. I'm the oldest member - Jan. 27, all of the other members are February and early March. The alliance is currently drawing up a charter that specifically lays out what the alliance can and cannot do. We have no intention to take away the power of your nation, only add to it. You have nothing to lose by joining.

Resolution in support for joining in the February League has passed all three houses of the Lagukrof. Fure Calere Damog Atenkruf conveys the will of the people of Upper Cet Kola Ytovia by tendering an application to join the alliance.

(Notes: Lagukrof = the legislature. Fure Calere = highest ranking member of the Calere, i.e. the executive branch, and thus serves as head of state. "Damog Atenkruf" is a Native Ytovian name.)

I seem to have avoided that then - I've been involved in an interesting and intelligent RP since a few days after I joined. Lucky me. :)

Evil-Catzegovina, while I accept your point, the March 6th requirement has in practice been waived for younger nations seeking membership. A quick look at our member list will reveal that we are in fact prepared to consider all young nations.

I would also like to add (for the benefit of anyone remotely interested) that whilst I, like Nimzonia, managed to avoid such nations, I have a very strong impression that some new players are not so fortunate; however infrequent that might be, I felt strongly enough about it to try to do something constructive...

Greetings from the Community of Bariloche to Oshima and Izu and Majesto:

The government of Bariloche would like to express its admiration for the ideals presented by the February League and would like to enter the alliance in the same way _taiwan has, and help in the defense of the young nations.

We are members of the Legion of Defense, as the R.O.C. is too, and would like to be the link between these alliances. We think the February League would benefit greatly from having close diplomatic realtions with the LoD.

We think that what might be wrong with this alliance is that it should accept all new nations from here on, and maybe either let go the older nations or keep them only as Protectors, similar to the LoD (which sorrily didn't adquire any new Protectorates, and it's failing in its main reason to exist).

Anyhow, we have been taking in all new nations, but it was just an idea that since we were the February Alliance, it would be stupid to have a large number of March nations. But still, we have been accepting everyone who's asked to be admitted. You are welcomed into the alliance as an associate member, please feel free to join the boards. I will talk to O&I about waving the age requirement all together.

Attention all prospective and current members:

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Majesto, an Administrative Councilman of the February Alliance. Myself and Oshima and Izu have developed a time frame to get the alliance official. I just want to get this out into the open so that anyone will be able to join if they want. Here it is:

1. Open membership will end this Saturday at eight o' clock Eastern Time. After that, you'll need to petition the assembly for membership. For now, feel free to post below for membership.

2. On Saturday evening, I'll cross check the member list against the forum member list so that all people will be members of the "General Assembly."

3. The member nations of the alliance will be ratifying the treaty from Monday into Tuesday.

4. On Wednesday, we will officially be an alliance.

This is an OOC post:

A couple of suggestions: First, time settings should be given in the GMT +/- # format, in this case GMT-4 (I think, if daylight saving times aren't fooling me); and second, the situation of Associate members (_taiwan and myself for now) should be clarified, will we have diplomatic and political participation? or are we just resources? along other questions that I'll post in the forums later.

As Director of Foriegn Affairs for the Unforgiven, I would like to indicate our full and complete support for the February Alliance (OOC/hard to do otherwise, since O&I is a regionmate/OOC).

I would like to also request that the entire region be considered _honorary_ members of your alliance (OOC/might add a bit to the size haha/OOC). We would also like to offer our region as a home for any nations of the FebAll who wish to join! Mi casa es su casa.

Glad to see so many young nations working to become an integral part of the world!

First: That was just a guide. It's not like if someone posts at 8:15 I'll say no. It was just a time frame to help make the alliance official.

Associate members as of now have no vote in the assembly, but a say. I believe that it is similar to LOD protector status, but I'm not entirly sure how they work. If you wish to propose something, add it into the membership charter thread in the forum (under suggestions).

Itakeitall, I have sent you a TM with a question. We appreciate your support, but since O&I is a member, your region doesn't need honorary status, if any more February nations from your region wish to join, send them here.
