The Tritius has been designed for modern naval warfare, as a stable helicopter launch platform, and as a reasonable defensive ship.
The engines exhaust between the hulls as a method of reducing the thermal signature of the ship. Low noise and radar signatures are achieved using commercially available materials and services.
The advantages of a trimaran hullform over conventional mono-hulls are thought to be: reduced costs, reduced signature, significantly less drag increased speed, increased length, giving greater stability, and more room for the upper deck, which could be used for the flight deck as well as hangars for helicopters and extra armaments.

The Dominion hereby requests the rights to manufacture the Tritius-class under licence at the VanDoos Shipyards. Every ship produced at VanDoos would be destined for the Dominion Navy, and in exchange, we would be willing to give you production rights to both our Ducted Superconducting Electromagnetic Propulsion systems and our supercavitating torpedoes, as well as whatever you consider to be a fair monetary compensation.

Kotterdam, thats seems fair. Once we use the designs for the electromagnetic propulsion to upgrade the engines on the Tritius, then we will send the plans for those as well.

I have taken the liberty of drafting the specifications for the Dominion-built variant of the Tritius-class. You may notice a number of modifications beyond simply adding DSEMP drives and torpedo tubes capable of handling the Silverfish SCSG torpedo.

For one, we have added a pair of Hailstorm CIWS emplacements, weapons that use our new Semi-Guided 20mm Cannon shell, a technology we will share with Phoenixius only on the understanding that it will not be included on any ships intended for export. As well, we have included a single F-37A Shalakh ASTOVL Fighter for use in engaging threat force helicopters, as well as extending the frigate's reach with its ability to carry the Harpoon missile.

Finally, we added a suite of domestically produced electronics, a towed torpedo decoy, and a Prairie/Masker (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/systems/prairie.htm) Sonar Countermeasure Unit. Since the DSEMP drive has no moving parts whatsoever, it produces little to no cavitation noises. Therefore the primary threat as far as detection by passive sonar is concerned are plant noises. With the addition of Prairie/Masker, the Tritius becomes as close to utterly silent as a warship underway could possibly be, forming almost a hole in the water. Detection via passive sonar is near impossible.

Where could Krulltor purchace the Dominion-built variant of the Tritius-class?

The Dominion of Kotterdam hereby grants full production rights to the Tritius-D Dominion version of the Tritius Trimaran Guided Missile Frigate to Phoenixius, and cedes all export rights to the design on the condition that no export-model Tritius-D frigates are equipped with the new Hailstorm CIWS without Dominion approval, as the semi-guided cannon is still considered sensitive technology. Export variants would carry conventional 20mm CIWS emplacements.

The Dominion, however, can provide you with export-model F-37E Shalakh ASTOVL fighters, and SH-71A Sea Python ASW Helicopters to fill out the vessel's aircraft complement.

OOC-Yep, a lot of people have used that design. NG and I made a frigate out of it, decked out with pump-jets and MHD assistance, but ours had more torps and missiles. But you've done a good job with it.

With the colaboration with VanDoos Shipyards in Kotterdam, the basic Tritius class has been improved. Various systems have been revamped, such as the drive system. Various weapon emplacements have also been re-designed.

Options: In order to improve the stealth of the ship, the second generation stealth system, Athena, can be fitted to the Tritius-D. This will add an extra $2mil to the cost.
