(ooc:Not wanting to let President Igomo's African Crusader reputation wane by our inaction, I'm just here to lament Lusaka's inability to become involved since Tanzania is part of The United African Republic of Lusaka, and I don't think SC wants 150,000 elite troops backed up by three million militiamen, two thousand battletanks, and three hundred jet aircraft taking issue.. but if this weren't the case, you can bet Igomo would be lodging protests and loading 130mm artillery pieces! Uhm.. carry on.)

(ooc:Oh, pretty much any thread I've been in since the nation was founded could have reference to our geography, I dunno, but I'm not actually contesting your claim, just (out of boredom) explaining Igomo's uncharacteristic inaction over the situation. Normally Lusaka would be rushing to condemn you for invading an African nation, but I can't really, since.. parallel universe, or something. Sorry, didn't mean to derail things. [steps out])

Roycelandia recognises Lusaka's claim to Tanzania, and not Sniper Country's. Sorry. Having said that, if you want to invade Lusaka, we won't stop you... :D

Chellis will be updating the RL Nations thread in the next few days, and I think he'll be including most of the Southern African Nations Claims...

(At least, I hope he will be...)

We also uphold Lusaka's claim to Tanzania, and we will send a tank squadron and an Uhlans brigade to help him out if you invade him.

I know you never said you were... but Roycelandia and Lusaka don't always get on especially well, so if anyone invaded them we certainly wouldn't try and stop them (unless there was a political or other benefit...)

ooc:for the record, I really don't care. Like I say, multiverse. I think SC controls part of South Africa already, which isn't the case in our little world, so.. carry on, really.

"... although the Prime Minister remains thoroughly embarrassed by the incident.

In other news, the Roycelandian Government has decided to enter into talks with the Government of Lesotho regarding the possibility of the area becoming a Protectorate of the Roycelandian Empire. Roycelandia already has an extensive presence in Southern Africa, and the benefits of becoming a Roycelandian Protectorate must surely be obvious to the Lesothan Government.

In finance news, shares in Imperial Mining climbed today after it was discovered that Dirt can be sold to desert nations to aid in Agriculture..."

Is this open to all? If so here my reply is below. If not, please forgive my mistake.

Wait a minute here. As the sole neighbor to lesotho we will not allow their annexation by any nation other than ours, unless we can have a say in it.

We in the FWS (We only actually control South Africa) but we assert our claims to Namibia and Rhodesia (Now Zimbabwe) as well. Perhaps someday we may take those nations. We also have claims on Swaziland and Lesotho. Therefore we will not allow the ratification of any treaty between Lesotho and an outside power unless we can first approve and are fairly compensated... We will be fair and reasonable though.

[Um I think you are gravely mistaken. I am South Africa. As well as Somalia and Tanzania. And this isn't closed, if you want to get in you can, but everything has to be in News Report format. Much as everyone else here has done.]

I am south africa / rhodesia (hoping to get Nyasaland as well)... Fine, we both can't be south africa. I am a newly created island nation off the eastern coast of south africa. It looks idential in geography. Created by volcanoes over a 2 year period. Don't ask me how it has great farm land.

"FallCorp. the Governing body in FallschrimmJager issued a statement offering the use of the ICF(International Correctional Facilities) to house POWs and other detainees during this conflict(at a discounted rate).
Towards both sides, this will allow outside humanitarian bodies to ensure ethical treatment of prisoners, while insuring that escape is completely impossible. An AlcatrazII class transport is on it's way to the African coast.
Also FallCorp. is dispatching GERT(Global Emergency Response Teams) to the area to assist civilians with medical/food/ and relocation needs(as always GERT responders are free of charge).
More news on this and other stories at ten after the hour."

"... but the Minister for Improbable Events dismissed the claim as being the work of people who'd been drinking too much.

In more important news, however, the Government of Lesotho has officially asked the Imperial Government to assume control of the Defence Needs of the Tiny Nation, effectively turning it into a Roycelandian Protectorate.

Troops have already been deployed to Lesotho, with the 42nd Imperial Guards unit being welcomed by cheering crowds earlier this afternoon.

Some resistance, however, from the Sniper Country Embassy, which has denounced the Roycelandian Arrival and threatened to fire upon any Roycelandian troops which approach the Embassy. At the moment this is being treated as the usual sabre-rattling by a dissatisfied Government, but the Imperial Defence Bureau is not taking any chances at this early stage and hasn't ruled out the possibility of further deployments if there are any problems in Lesotho.

Political Analysts have yet to formulate views on the long-term impact of Roycelandia's establishment of a protectorate in Lesotho, but the Port Imperial Stock Exchange jumped over 10% on arrival of the news, with Imperial Mining, Imperial Trading Company, and Telecom Roycelandia leading the charge.

In other news, the latest Kenya Smith film, Kenya Smith & The Treasure of The Pharoah opens in Cinemas across the Empire this Friday..."

"This is an update to an earlier ran story. Regarding the current Lesotho situation and the rising tensions between Roycelandia and Sniper Country.
With the placing of two UH-60 choppers on the SC embassy grounds makes it fairly apparent they are preparing for a breakdown in diplomacy.
With fighter planes on patrol and armed forces at hightened state of alert it seems things could get very worse before they get better, let's go to Chad Holbroke who is standing by live in one of the FallCorp GERT UH-60s(a popular model it seems) which have lifted off from the Alcatraz transport vessel to carry the first group of PJs into Tanzania.
"Thanks Harv, This Chad Holbroke with GNN reporting from just outside Tanzania airspace I am sitting next to trained ParaRescue Fallcorp field rep. Daniella Thompson, miss Thompson what is the purpose of this insertion?"
"Danny, Chad all the boys up here call me Danny....Chad we trained in what can essentially be called 'Battle Field Triage' we go into to potentially dangerous situations assess the said danger before actual doctors are placed in harms way, and we also create a repoire with local inhabitants, so they know the FallCorp Uniform, is the Uniform of friends."
"Well Danny I noticed this chopper is unarmed, and I dont see any rifles for you all to jump with how about that? You enter into these types of situations unarmed?"
"I am glad you asked that Chad,
FallCorp, does not activly engage in any type of military operation save for Logistics support of its allies and those who pay for the service.
No Chad none of our insertion choppers are armed, we arnt here to fight, we are here to save lives. As for me and my team...we all carry side arms, the standard issue 40cal sigsauer, and two clips on our belts. We only carry those so we can facilitate a quick retreat to a safe extraction point should the need arise."

"It seems the pilot is radioing for clearence to land."
"Yes he is Chad, however, it is only a courtesy, regardless of the response we will at least attempt insertion."

"This Harv Cromwell for GNN sorry but we lost our feed, we will try to pick it up later....Now for the sports.:"

"... was very sore afterwards, but quipped that 'One day we'll just look back on this and laugh.'

This just in: The security situation in Lesotho has deteriorated dramatically after an incident at the Sniper Country's Embassy in the Capital City.

An angry mob, complete with burning torches, pitchforks, and small arms, has been staging a loud and noisy protest outside the Sniper Country Embassy. We cross now live to Tom Catson, reporting from Maseru:

Image of a youngish man wearing Body Armour and a Pith Helmet standing near a rather agitated mob of local citizens- burning torches, pitchforks, and all

"The Roycelandian arrival in Lesotho hasn't been entirely without incident- there have been isolated outbreaks of civil unrest in the guise of oppurtunistic looting, but thus far the vast majority of the country is only too happy to see some stability in the form of Roycelandian troops and aid workers.

In fact, this angry mob is protesting the presence of Sniper Country in Lesotho, claiming that they are up to no good and demanding they recognise Lesotho's status as a Roycelandian Protectorate and leave immediately.

Thus far, the demonstration has been very loud and noisy, with signs of increasing agitation, and several dozen Imperial Guard have arrived on the scene."

Two trucks, each with about 25 soldiers, arrive and the red-coated Imperial Guard clamber out and shoulder rifles, bayonets fixed. One of them, obviously an officer, begins to read the Riot Act

"...And therefore you are required by order and in the name of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Royce I to peaceably disperse from this location and return to your homes or places of business within one hour, or else you will be guilty of an offence carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment. Long Live The Emperor!" the Officer concludes, whilst the Imperial Guard are seen to load their Lee-Enfield Mk III rifles.

"There you have it, folks- The Riot Act has been read and the Mob doesn't look like they're paying even the slightest bit of..."

The sound of automatic weapons fire, followed immediately by the view of some local militants with AK-47s firing wildly into the air. At the same moment, several Imperial Guard raise their rifles, trying to identify the shooters in the crowd.

"Load Rubber Bullets!" The officer yells as the Mob continues chanting Anti-Sniper Country sentiments.

"Looks like the Imperial Guard have their work cut out for them..."

"Thanks, Tom. We'll stay with the story and keep you informed of any developments. This is the RBC World Service, and the time is 3:45PM..."

"...but compalained that 'It just wasn't cricket.'

Breaking news from Lesotho, where an Angry Mob has opened fired on the Sniper Country Embassy.

Re-crossing Live to Tom Catson- Tom?"

Tom Catson is standing in what is clearly a war zone- gunfire, injured people, etc

"Thanks everyone. Sniper Country embassy guards have moments ago opened fire on the Mob, killing several and agitating them further. I've been told that... wait a minute..."

A burst of MG fire from somewhere near the embassy catches two Imperial Guard full in the chest, and they go down in a heap, muscle reflex firing the triggers on their rifles

"RETURN FIRE!" The officer is heard to yell, and the camera gets a good shot of a group of Imperial Guard Volley Firing into the embassy and the crowd.

"Ths can't be good, folks... We're still waiting from official word from the IDB, but..."

an almighty explosion throws the cameraman off his feet

"Ladies and gentlemen, someone has just fired an RPG at the Sniper Country Embassy. It looks like..."

a Red-coated soldier hauls Tom off screen "That's enough, mate. It's not safe for you to be here. Get clear of this mess before anything else..."

Lee-Enfield rifle fire, and the sound of full auto fire. The camera crew and Tom run for cover...

"Well, I'm sure glad we aren't there in Lesotho at the moment. More news as it comes to hand, this is the RBC World Service."

"... as you can see, it's complete mayhem here in Maseru. These images speak far better than words ever could, so we'll leave it to Tim Deere, our cameraman, to show you what's going on...

Total chaos- Sniper Country Marines firing at Imperial Guard, Imperial Guard firing back from behind cars and our of doorways, the angry mob shooting at everyone.

An Imperial Guardsman bayonets an unsuspecting SC Marine, whilst another Imperial Guard catches a bullet right between the eyes.

The Angry Mob are firing at everything, and the sound of an Iroquois can be heard as the IRAF sends helicopters to break up the riot and control the shooting.

Gunfire- rifle, handgun, and automatic- can be heard, and everyone is keeping their head down, except for the soldiers.

"The Imperial Government has declared a State of Emergency in Lesotho, and is deploying the Imperial Foreign Legion and more Imperial Guard there immediately. We'll keep you informed of the developments as they happpen."

More footage of the chaos in Lesotho... this time, a pair of IAe Spitfire turboprop fighters fly in low from the North, and fire off a brace of Tear Gas Rockets. The tear gas quickly envelops the rioting mob, causing several to collapse to the ground, whilst even more run around unable to see from the tear gas

"As you can see, the riot is getting well out of control, and the IRAF have been called in to break it up. More Imperial Guard are on the scene, and I'm told they are using live rounds on the crowd if it doesn't calm down."

One of the Spitfires returns to fire off another Tear Gas Rocket when several bursts of machine gun fire from the ground tear into the engine and cockpit, injuring the pilot seriously. He pulls the Eject lever just before the Spitfire slams into a building next to the SC Embassy, spraying the area and the mob with debris and aviation fuel.

"Oh dear, one of the Spitfires is down, and with smoke and tear gas enveloping everything it's getting very hard to see... stay tuned, and we'll keep you informed..."

What connection does this have o the Southern Africa map because I'm a little confused?

None... SC is in a different multiverse, so to speak. Lesotho is encircled by South Africa in RL, but since no-one owns SA in our version of Southern Africa... Ow! My head! :D
