Libertarian Police State Asks for Help (Open RP)
Three months ago our government was going into depression due to an ever increasing swelling of pro-socialist officials. This growing decline alerted all of the officers within the municipal police departments and military on the possible future of our republic falling into disrepair. After much discussion, heated talks, and emotional speeches, these officers chose to formally relieve the government of their duty. This action soon caused a massive protest within the city of Kay Son, which soon spread to Lin Bo and Chang Lai.
We were given no choice but to declare our nation a police state. Those that posed a risk to the stability of our nation had to be removed else their dissidence might spread. A great turmoil enveloped our nation.
Now, onto our third month of rule, we have come to a crux- whether or not to allow our people the natural right of involvement within the political sphere. While it is true that we do allow our people their civil rights, the expressing of dissidence does have the potential of infecting others to do the same. Such action directly opposes the very status that our nations now possess.
Therefore, with a great trepidation, we do plead to our fellow nations on assistance of returning the people’s sovereign right of governance. It is our belief that with foreign intervention that hopefully the law enforcement agencies, the military, and the people can strive for a better future.
Signed,
The Leaders of the Republic of Kay Son
Personally we have no qualms with a system run by the military providing they give the people civil rights and treat them well. It would seem that your nation has actually improved under the leadership of your officers.
Of course, should the level of civil freedom reduce we may look into possible assistance but for the time being everything seems to be running well...
I suppose it may also depend on how many of the population actually care about elections... many nations have trouble with voter turnouts. If only the interlectual minority want democracy then I can hardly see a point in assisting the minority of the population change a government that is working perfectly fine.
None the less we see this as something your nation should workout for yourselves. We don't see any problems and as such we have an embassy within your nation (I do don't I? I think you applied for it in my thread) and we are fairly happy with things from here.
Good luck in working this out.

Libertarian police state? Isn't that an oximoron?

Yeah, those are my thoughts...could someone please define for me a libertarian police state? That sounds rather contradictory.
Private Communiqué to Kay Son
Our advice is that if doubt remains, then maintain martial law. It is better to give the people no political power than to let the country fall into anarchy, where chaos will reign supreme. Our government has a similar policy, and will be glad to supply assistance if needed. Even if you decide to give political power to our populace, we will still be happy to provide additional security.
The Leaders of the Republic of Kay Son thanks all responders to their message. We shall strive to better our citizen's lot even though in some measures that we take will give the slight oppertunity for dissidence to operate.
On another matter, there is a slight irrataion by growing number of dissidents whom seek an anarchaic government. Do we allow them to continue as their civil right to do so?

Private Communique' To KaySon Government:
Brothers of the International Community...
Where there are people there will always be the need for leadership. This leadership can take many forms, from Kings to Dictators, Presidents to Prime-Ministers, et cetera et cetera ad nauseum. Whatever name you put on it; someone or a group of someones ultimately must control the populace lest they fall victim to their own ignorance. The People's Republic of Greater Burzum is no different. Our people as a whole are generally well educated yet lack the ability to control themselves beyond the yoke of reason. It has been my experience as Sovereign Emperor, that you must maintain a small degree of civil unrest in order to keep the peace. Without strife the people would organise and overthrow any attempts made to control them, even if these attempts were done so in the name of the greater good. Shower them with civil rights and while you do this take their political freedoms from them. Let not the left hand know what the right hand is doing. Politics is not for the faint of heart brothers, be well aware of that. You cannot and will not please all of your people, but you do not have to...grant and take away, grant and take away, keep things changing yet covered in a thick layer of whitewash so that only the select few know what is truely going on, and make sure that when they are ready to speak out that noone will hear them. That is our recommendation to you. If you would like to arrange a meeting to discuss the implementation of such a government please feel free to contact me regarding this matter in the future.

The Leaders of the Republic of Kay Son are willing to send a trusted officer to find out more information about such a method. However, the leaders of the Republic of Kay Son would like to stress that the visit is purely an educational one.

Certainly...We would not be rash enough to consider such a visit anything otherwise. It is currently 9:31 am Burzic time...if it is quite possible for you to make the trip we will be happy to accomodate you between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm Burzic time...8.5 hours from now. Be sure to have your people contact our military with an E.T.A. on your arrival by air lest you fall victim to one of our "intruder bane" alarms. Your presence is most anticipated and welcomed.

The Leaders of the Republic of Kay Son would like to inform you that their representative will be flying in a Luxornburg plane due to the long range capacity that their planes have. (The Republican Air Force is currently being inspected for future financial improvement)

Libertarian police state? Isn't that an oximoron?
The idea is that individuals are free to act in whatever manner they please until they infringe upon the rights of someone else. When that occurs, the state clamps down swiftly, harshly, and with little mercy.
The Leaders of the Republic of Kay Son would like to note that none of the detainees have been treated badly or whose civil rights have been "ignored". Each one has been treated justly and is given an attorney when their trial is held.
Sadly, the agreement as negotiated with the National Socialist Front failed due to their lack of funding towards the municipal police departments. According to Clause 9 of the agreement, the Kay Son Republican Army revoked the National Socialist Front's power and have temporary banned that political party until it can properly recognize the vital use of law enforcement. Other political parties are allowed to exist within the People's Republic of Kay Son with the stipulation that the people must have the right to exist without being menaced by criminal activity. Currently the leadership of the PRK is a collection of mlitary leaders and other political parties under the title of the Junta with budget yet again under strict inspection.
