The Gloves Are Off: New RoE for Anti-Smuggling Patrols

Shildonia
02-03-2004, 02:00
Recently, there has been a spate of incidents where large smuggler vessels have sat just outside Shildonian Territorial Waters and launched high speed boats to attempt to land drugs on Shildonia. Most of these speed-boats were intercepted and their crews arrested, or were sunk by helicopters before reaching the coast.
However, the larger "command" vessels have so far escaped repurcusions by remaining in international waters. From 0100 Zulu, the Rules of Engagement for Shildonian anti-smuggling patrols will be altered. From that time onwards, Shildonian military units will have the authority to fire on vessels in international waters if they have launched smaller vessels suspected of carrying prohibited substances into Shildonian waters.
Radar coverage from Nimrods will enable the anti-smuggling patrols to attack the so-called "command" vessels without minimal risk to other vessels in the area. We will no longer permit criminals the ability to hide behind a technicality and evade the law.
