Power Games in Noitan Teppup (Serious RP, Open)

Noitan Teppup
01-03-2004, 03:26
Breif Explaination (OOC): I'm starting a huge powergame, in which other nations can participate... many factions and a chance for nations to affect a nation so that it may help them out and look favourably towards them...

Basically Noitan Teppup is going into another election and the bets are on for who will win...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v258/Iuthia/Maps/NoitanTeppup.jpg

A little information about Noitan Teppup first. This nation has been run by a form of democracy which places one man in charge of the nation, usually backed by a series of underlings who will inevitably get positions in government if they back him up.

This one man gets a lot of power and makes all the important decisions, including the decision to go to war. However, it is still a democracy and should something go horribly wrong the leader will not only lose his position at the top… but possibly his life, political assassinations are not unknown, though they are highly illegal and expensive.

Otherwise anyone can run for leadership, providing they have the starting cash and the popularity to make it through the elimination rounds. Once the runners have been established and they had enough popularity to make it through they are officially in the running for leadership.

Convicts, foreigners and mentally unstable are not allowed to run for leadership… they is also a age limit and “Senility” is counted as mentally unstable too, meaning you can’t be too old or too young.

They can be endorsed by anyone and they often are… it is not unknown for communities to place their runners in by whipping round to pay for costs, charities are started and corporations relied on. The only mandatory costs are to get into the list of official Runners. Once you are running for leadership the cost is up to the runner… if they want to spend money on publicity then they can, baring in mind that if they don’t they will not keep up in popularity.

Once elected leader you then set up your own advisers and government. Though a permanent staff is often in place prior to their election, they can change them at will but often don’t because they are experienced. The idea being that you have people to carry out your will once you are in. Once in your term is 5 years before the next election.

Possible Factions of Noitan Teppup:

Legitimate Political Runners in the Elections:

The Traditionalist “Bob Jules” – Bob Jules is the current leader of Noitan Teppup and in this election he is defending his position for the fifth time. He has kept taxes low and assists corporations as much as possible, who in turn have spent money to keep him in power using expensive campaigns to keep him popular… or at least in office. He is highly pro-business and as such no assignation attempts have been made, at least not professional ones.

It is public knowledge that he banned strikes and worker unions from Noitan Teppup, creating a minor terror problem within the nation. However due to these two rulings the corporations use their power over workers to keep him in power… it shouldn’t be public knowledge but it’s pretty hard for it not to be.

Under his rule the economy of Noitan Teppup has been well above expectations, more people have more money… though it is mostly owned by a social elite. There are many poor people in Noitan Teppup.

He is tough on crime despite the fact that his rulings have slowly increased the amount of crime. He is also more for punishment then rehabilitation, which has resulted in prisons being very good at training better criminals, but executing the “really” bad ones.

He is also seen as acceptable by the tougher Catholics in Noitan Teppup who like his tough approach to keeping morals at a high standard… banning abortion, same sex marriages, homosexual adoption and “inciting hatred” mostly aimed to stop people criticising the church.

However, one of his latest ideals was to reduce funding to the military so that he may reduce taxes further, thus enraging military leaders of Noitan Teppup… he also seems to be gearing up for some new policies to make it harder to run for leadership, however this has been met with opposition.

The Socialist “Darren Markson” – Darren Markson has been running behind Bob for some time now, sometimes getting closer then others but never quite managing to beat Bob in the final elections. At times when it looked like Darren may have won there have been attempts on his life by various hit men and others… thankfully Darren is a bit of a survivalist and has learnt how to keep his guard up against such attacks.

Darren’s main agenda seems to be about giving power back to “the working man”. He wishes to bring back workers right and legalise worker unions again. He also wants to increase taxes on the rich to increase public services and introduce programs to help build better communities…

He also seems to want to reduce military spending so that he can concentrate on improving the society.

Most companies are highly against Darren because of his socialist policies… he has pledged that he will not restrict companies any more then he has to, to allow the gap between rich and poor to be reduced. As such he faces a lot of opposition, but gets a lot of support from brave workers and communities.

The Environmentalist “Steve Baker” – Steve is a simple man who wants to increase the level of efficiency in Noitan Teppup by introducing more environment friendly policies and recycling. He doesn’t get involved in a lot of the other issues but he does try and keep the people happy with other policies that would improve the community as well as business practices…

Mostly he doesn’t get much support for his attempts, but he always manages to wrangle extra votes from people who aren’t quite sure who to vote for. Corporations oppose him but they don’t spend too much effort doing so because he’s always been a bit of a joke… always coming third.

The Newcomer “Mavis Jolson” – People aren’t sure what to make of Mavis Jolson, she’s the daughter of a rich and unfortunately dead tycoon and has inherited a large substantial sum of money… however during the elimination round she managed to not only get into running, but come close to Darren Markson’s popularity.

Her good education got her into a teaching career very quickly at the disappointment of her father who wanted her to become business women to follow after him. In a way she is a business woman in charge of her fathers business but she has handed it over to others to look after.

Her policies seem to have been what made her popular in Noitan Teppup, mostly insisting on a nicer society and understanding for everyone. She is very big on education for everyone in Noitan Teppup as she wants people to be more tolerant and generally nicer to everyone… this, she argues is only possible though teaching children at a young age.

She is also highly into reforming the prisons to rehabilitate criminals, as well as remove a lot of the laws protecting religion and allowing more civil freedoms… she hasn’t had much opposition so far because she caught everyone by surprise… she has been dubbed “the fluffy candidate”.

Illegitimate Factions for running the nation:

The Rebels – Due to the harsh rule enforced over Noitan Teppup for over twenty years by Bob Jules. Basically as workers rights dissolved and unions banned it became clear to a lot of ordinary people that Bob Jules is slowly turning the nation into a dictatorship ruled by the corporations. They have seen the divide between rich and poor get worse and worse to the point where a lot of the nation is in poverty, barely earning enough to live… if they are unhappy with working conditions or don’t think in a certain way they do not get employment and vagrancy is becoming an offence.

Discontent with the Bob Jules is the running current in Noitan Teppup and as such there are a lot of sympathisers for the rebels. The rebels themselves are often made up of the un-employed people, but sometimes with people who know the system too… overall it is uncertain how many people are rebels and how many people aren’t but it is pretty clear that they could easily supplement their numbers with the down trodden people of Noitan Teppup…

A lot of the rebels are cowards, writing anti-government scribes on the walls, committing petty acts of vandalism… but there is a very small faction of rebels who are brave, who dare to do more against their oppressors… however this faction have to be careful due to the strong police forces trying to keep them at bay… the bravest don’t last long without being smart and organised and most of them aren’t.

There are many rebel factions in Noitan Teppup and they usually come from various backgrounds. Some of them are mildly educated, used to be in charge of something before being dragged under by events… these ones often dream of creating a communist nation for the people run by the people… however they are dreamers, very few of them are willing to do what it takes.

Then there are criminals, “anarchists” to coin a phrase… they are against the system that locked them up, they don’t always have a plan but they want to change things so they aren’t locked up, they use the discontent to help them man power so they can “stick it to the man”… overall these are the most militant rebels, but they are rather poor at organising… the ones that do organise are rare but potent, but without morals.

Overall the rebels are not organised too much… they sometimes rise up and they some times cause damage. Recently activity has increased but little information is known.

The Military – The military in Noitan Teppup is ordered around by the minister of defence who tells the General what the leadership wants, followed by the general telling them how to achieve it. This has been a pretty good symbiotic relationship between the Minister of Defence, Charles Glodson and the General, Pete Kirov. However due to the latest set of cuts followed by some minor embarrassments their relationship is slowly falling apart… General Kirov had once been complacent over the limitations that Minister Glodson imposed on him; what’s more General Kirov had ignored some of the orders until recently. Now he is being very compliant. The assumption is that the General is interested in keeping his job and will fold to the Minister of Defence to keep his position.

General Kirov is a very stubborn man at heart, he also believes himself to be one of the best generals around with a very good knack for knowing what the grunts want so they are more efficient and loyal. He is respected by most of the military and they suspect that a statue will be built of him when he eventually passes away.

However, he has been hiding various training missions and preparations behind the leaderships back… this is something he has gotten in trouble with before and he’s no longer doing it now, as far as most people know.

Now the elections draw near as the two month campaign begins…

OOC: If you haven’t guessed this is the start of a rather large RP I’m starting because I’m bored… it’s pretty much open but I must stress some ground rules before posting.

Firstly, keep OOC posts to a minimum. You can ask questions, tag the thread and post secret actions if you don’t want to use the words “Secret Actions” above them. You may not flame, but you may post criticism and praise if you think it will be productive. If I ask you to step out of the thread I would like it if you did, this is meant to be fairly serious but fun too.

Secondly, if you are going to do something IC then you have to explain everything in some detail. You can’t support rebels without knowing about them, I’ve made all information limited because you are meant to “learn” about them using IC actions. I will react IC to bad RP makes the fatal mistake of trying to fund something they don’t know about. If you try to sneak in you have to explain how… ect.

You will only get one warning if I feel your actions are going too far ahead or are missing information that is vital… after that I will IC react to it. I want it to be at least within the realms of reality.

Your actions can and will affect the outcome of this thread… I will be assigning worth of each post for each factions chances of taking over… if you help a certain factor they may look favourably on you, though remember this isn’t certain because they may be using you too… if you support an illegitimate faction you may have issues with the main nation if you are found out.

Finally, try to have fun, I know I’m being harsh in places but it would be nice to see a good strong RP in which careful thought and understanding can help you seize power in another nation… it’s a huge power game and I can play it with or without others.

[NTTV News Report]

Hello and welcome to the six o’clock news with me, Nick Revera.

Today the marks the start of the campaign for the leadership of Noitan Teppup and as usual all four candidates have made a furious start on the campaign trail.

To remind us of the four candidates in the running this election is Diane with an in depth report.

Thanks Nick…

The first candidate for the leadership is Bob Jules, who is defending his position as leader of Noitan Teppup for the forth time in his twenty year benevolent rule. His policies are to keep Noitan Teppup strong in the face of the international community by having a world class economy as well as to uphold the traditional values of this fair nation. So far he leads the polls with a strong 45% of the nation behind him.

The second candidate for leadership is Darren Davis, the communistic son of John Davison, a successful oil tycoon. This is the third time Darren has challenged Bob for leadership and he’s hoping for a better campaign then last year. Darren’s main policy is to increase taxes to provide a better public service for our nation and to improve communities. He is against the tough court system of Noitan Teppup and instead supports rehabilitation of paedophiles and other criminals. So far he is second in the poles with a reasonable 25% of the nation behind him.

The third candidate is a newcomer called Mavis Jolson, a teacher from Tynel Island. Her father was a well known Rail Tycoon before he passed away several years ago. This is the first time she has tried for leadership and so far she has performed well in the polls. Her main policy seems to be based around an increase of taxation so that all may enjoy a good education system to reduce intolerance, however she is against many of the laws banning abortion and may face tough opposition from religious leaders. So far she is Third in the poles with a fair 15% of the nation behind her.

And finally, Steve Barker. Steve is challenging Bob for the fourth time and is hoping not to come in last place again, for the fourth time. Steve’s main policy seems to be based around the idea of environmentalism and increased efficiency no matter the cost to our nation. He too feels that increasing taxation will benefit our people in the long run. He is currently running last at 10% of the nation… leaving 5% unsure who to follow…

However, at this point it’s anyone’s game. Over to you Nick.

Thanks Diane.

Well there you have it, after the break we will be looking into the hard work each of these candidates are putting in and how they are being perceived by the populace. We’ll also be looking into the recent terrorist actions taken against our nation in the run up to the elections…

[Meanwhile, in a tenement block somewhere...]

Dan and Tom had been pretty lucky all things considering, their education was being sponsored by Galspan, who in turn wanted to offer them reasonably well paid jobs for the training they gave them, it was the perfect deal.

All they had to do is pass their courses in Marketing, English and Engineering and they would have jobs with good prospects… of course, they couldn’t have any other courses without paying for them and well… they didn’t have the money for any of the more interesting courses.

However, they did have access to the library, which meant they could read about other things. Other things came in a glorious Technicolor, information could be found about anything and it was all open to them. Including books about communism…

They weren’t interested in finding about communists before they saw a report about them on television… mostly it was going on about Stalin and Lenin, how their systems were inherently flawed, how their rules killed millions of Russians… it all seemed so odd, like the report was only telling part of the story.

So they looked it up, a lot of the books used the same examples of “communism”… explaining how it’s dangerous and ends up in dictatorship. Then they found some of the older ones, from other nations explaining the actual ideals of the system… And like all young impressionable lads, they saw rebellion against the system… something to believe in.

Though they had to work on with their college work to get that job… they didn’t want to end up in a low paid job, they had seen the looks on those people who did and they didn’t like them. However, they did find some others who agreed, who passed them on to others with stronger views. It became exciting as they met more and more people who saw the world differently… a world that could be fair.

Now they worked on their course work in their crummy apartment, it is pretty much the same as any other student’s apartment really. It had a simple couch with the occasional miscellaneous stain, a rather low grade colour television with a VCR so they could watch porn, a floor littered with anything from crisp packets to beer cans as well as various anarchist posters one the walls. Of course, they has all the mod cons like bathroom and bedrooms, but overall it was a normal place… with exception to the closet.

The closet had something they shouldn’t have… but they were looking after it for a friend, they didn’t ask why or even what it was but they couldn’t take it out or do anything with it. It was in a box, along with other items like it, items for being another person, someone important. Sometimes it made them nervous… but they wouldn’t get caught, no one cares about them, that are why they look after it.

So they sat and did they work… later they would go out and meet some friends and talk about what they could do to help.

--Secret Action--

The Rodasnian governemnt has begun secretly channeling funds to the Socialist canditate, Darren Markson, in order to help his campaign and improve worker's rights in Noitan Teppup. This will be done under the cover of a small Rodasnian import company which has set up shop in one of the major port cities of Noitan Teppup. Total sum thus far: $450,000.00

Secretly, Rodasnian spies are entering the country disguised as tourists and immigrants and are attempting to influence polls by strongarming and bribing local officals.

OOC: Very well, I will assume your cover organisation will use very careful handling of money to get the money from the organisation to his campaign fund, the chances are that you will have picked up contacts along the way from his own underling who are not fully aware of what is going on for the time being but are carefully handling their own side of the transfer.

Meanwhile your spies are successful in entering the nation and are given offical tourist identification paper they are told they must have on them at all times.

You feel you may need to aqquire official papers to be recognised as being a citizen in Notian Teppup, however these papers are not required to be carried about any more because it was un-workable (even though the law still exists) but they are required for buying large things such as cars and the such, if you are being offical about buying it at any rate.

As for bribery, you may have to RP some more detail into how you are going about it as it's not like you can just walk up to an official and bribe them... either take some time finding out the right pressure points to bribe or be less thorough... you get the idea.

You also learn that there is a strong current of discontent in the nations working class, though you do not learn much about it specifically unless you want to look into it...

In The Emperor's Imperial Office....

It is around 18:25 VLZ. The Emperor sits silently looking at photo of his family. He yearns to be with them at his home, The Imperial Palace, but he has important business to attend to. Many documents are spread out before him. He is bent over examining these carefully with a “busy” look on his face. He murmurs as he looks at the clock again.”18:50 already?”, he thinks to himself. Deciding that he needs some time for himself and his family, he stands up out of his chair and begins to place all the papers into a leather briefcase. He walks over to his closet and takes out his coat, decorated with more medals than any soldier could imagine to have, he looks upon it proudly. He puts his hat on and takes out a pair of leather gloves from the coat's pocket. He soon walks out of his office and looks to his secretary, “Sgt. Pulchny, I am leaving a bit early tonight”. She looks at him and just smiles, “Sir, you always seem to work long into the night, you deserve a night to yourself.”.”I suppose I do, would you call my driver for me please?”. With that he walks down the two flights of stairs and his driver is already there to pick him up.

As he is about to get into the limo, he sees Colonel Beaucrest coming his way. “Ahh, Colonel, I am glad you could make it!”. The Colonel begins to blush at his tardiness. “Sorry General, but I had some other affairs to attend to.”. “No matter” says the Emperor, “Accompany me to my home?” “A pleasure Sir”. In the security of his limo, the Emperor explains why he summoned the Colonel. “Colonel Beaucrest, you are aware of the elections in Noitan Teppup, correct?” “Yes Sir, I am, but why have you summoned me for this?” “I'd like someone to keep a watch on this election, and you, having just completing your last assignment, look to be a good candidate to do this.” “General, no offense meant, but I am a military man, not a diplomat, maybe you should consi...” “Nonsense!!!” The Emperor erupted “ You are as capable as any other man or else I would have not asked you! Now I need a military man, as I can trust there discipline and loyalty much more than some power-hungry diplomat.” explained The Emperor “You will have full access to intelligence files and equipment. I will inform Minister Frischoers of your appointment.” “As you wish, General”. “Good, now Colonel, would you like to join me for dinner? I have much to talk about with you about your last and upcoming assignment.” “General, of course I will join you and your family at dinner, it will be the up most honor”.

With that the limo soon pulled up to the Imperial Palace, where the General and his Colonel strode side by side up the marble steps into the main hall....

[NTTV News Report]

Hello and welcome to back to the six o’clock news with me, Nick Revera.

As the election campaigns kick off today, NTTV will be giving you the latest on the political news, now for a look into the hard work each candidate is putting into this campaign.

First over to John Forte with the Bob Jules Campaigners...

Thanks Nick,

Well here we are with the Bob Jules Campaign trail and already we have travelled a long distence from the capitol of Noitan Teppup, Kradon on Ferrum Island and we are heading towards Khatak Island for some hand shakes and a speach in the cityhall of Quitali.

Oh, and there's our current leader now, Bob Jules, what are your plans for today?

Well, we are currently travelling down to Quitali for a speach which we know will rally the people further behind their leader, I'm hoping to take a few questions and answer some of the fears on our peoples minds.

Those would be the fears of increased rebel activity in Khatak island?

Yes they would, due to the large forrest coverage in the area as well as the distance away from the main capitol of Noitan Teppup the area has become a good spot for wanted terrorist to hide our from our anti-terror forces... however we are doing a great deal to combat this problem... now if you don't mind I've got to prepare on my speach, thanks.

And there he goes, our benevolent leader. Back to you Nick.

Thanks John. Meanwhile Yavon Dale has been keeping up with the people working on Darran Davis's campaign, lets see how they are doing.

Well, it would seem that I'm outside today in the glorious sun with the Davis Campaigners and we seem to be sticking to Tynel Island for the moment, visiting various factories and workshops. Tynel Island being the more industrial island of the three thanks to it's good mining industries.

However, I have noticed that the worker seem to be rather unsettled by Darrens presence on the shop floor... they don't seem to anxious to talk to him maybe because they don't like his taxation policies or views on the justice system...

None the less it has been a busy day for Davis and we've been all over this place with some disapointing results for Davis.

Back to you Nick.

Thanks Yavon. We'll be back later for the coverage of the Mavis Jolson and Steve Barker campaigns after the break.

Two uniformed men were sitting in the corner of a bar on Ferrum Island, it wasn't a bad place in all, it played country music in the background and served good beer, but the most important thing was that it was local, everyone knew to keep to themselves and to their own business and these two men were not the exception.

On their table were several empty glasses, a slighly use ash tray and a couple of half-full beer glasses. If the locals paid attention to others they would have noticed the two had been there for a while, but few people wanted to remember in a place like this, notes were not kept.

One of the uniformed men had an impressive amount of scars on his face, which without the scar would have looked "grizzled" anyways. His age was hard to work out, but his grey shot crop hair suggested he may be 40-50 years old.

The other man however was alot more well kept. This man was bolding in places, but he still had the dignity not to wear a wig or toupe. His face wasn't scarred like the other man, but it did suggest experience.

"What did you say this stuff was again?" The balding man asked in a rough voice, he was used to some of the stronger stuff, but he didn't drink that in pints...

"It's called Jutv, it's an import from some country whose name I can't remember, I just remember that they are good with beers..." The scarred man replied, they weren't drunk yet... but he reckoned it was only a matter of time, so he moved on to the reason they were here.

"Ok Major, how many loyal men do you think we have now?" He ask in a more serious voice.

"Well, maybe enough for a Division, but we reckon we'll have more once everything has started..."

"Yes... they will won't they, afterall they don't won't to risk their career on something unless they are sure we can pull it off. You think the others won't act against us?"

"They trust you more then that desktop dictator sir, they know he's been cutting their wages and making their mates redundent... they won't be trying very hard to stop us if they are asked."

"Yes, we can trust in that much at least, well have to be very professional in this, not to mention fast... but that shouldn't be a problem, they are good at professional."

"That's right sir, Jules should have been more supportive towards us... we've kept his ass in power for this long without so much as a revolution, but nations would have been up in arms if their leadership did what he does..."

"There will be a revolution alright, we'll make sure of it..."

"Of course sir... ha, of course."

They both looked down into their pints and looked across to a pool table which had just been finished with. "Fancy a game?"

"Why not General, why not..."

[NTTV News Report]

Hello and welcome to back to the six o’clock news with me, Nick Revera.

A quick recap on todays news; the nation election campaign has opened today with all four candidates getting off to a good start on their poll figures.

As of today their figure currently stand at:

* Bob Jules - 45% (Current Leader)
* Darran Davis - 25% (Socialist)
* Mavis Jolson - 15% (New Enterant)
* Steve Baker - 10% (Environmentalist)
* Unsure - 5%

Now over to Mark Hamwits, our embedded reported with the Mavis Jolson campaign trail.

Thanks Nick,

I'm here with the Mavis Jolson group at the Heartwell School on Tynel Island where Mavis and here team are talking to teachers and students alike about the importance of democracy.

So far it would seem that Mavis Jolson has carefully harness the power of the education system and they are one her side today as she promises them alot more funding in the future.

My of the other candidates have dubbed Mavis Jolson as "the fluffy one" because of her stances towards crime, foriegn affairs and religious intolerance, should she get in power she says she will concentrate on making communities more friendly and work hard to improve the nations intelligence.

Eitherway it would seem that she is the candidate to watch, already ahead of Steve Barker in the polls and looking good to come in 2nd this year.

Thanks, back to you Nick.

Thankyou Mark, well now over to the Steve Barker campaign trail for the last part of this review with Jenny Kevinson.

Thanks Nick,

Well it would seem that Steve Baker is keeping to the basics today and has taken to the streets to meet and greet people in the hope to win a few votes and personally meet the man on the street.

Overwise there isn't much to say about the Steve Barker, he only has a small dedicated support base among environmentalists, however he has lost alot of ground to the Newcomer, Mavis Jolson... his support base is slowly being reduced by the fact that Mavis offer a much more realistic chance of winning then Steve as well as her policies which do not cost the companies last amounts in profit.

None the less it wouldn't be a campaign without Steve Baker, the man who has always passed the qualifier but otherwise has been last three years running and it's looking to be his fourth this year.

Back to you Nick.

Well there you have it folks, thats all four candidates and we will be keeping an eye on their progress... though not all at once next time. Stay tuned for other events of the day...

Dan had made a lot of progress with his Marketing Coursework that evening and he was now writing about the advantages of various information technologies working in conjunction. The work wasn't interesting but it had to be done if Dan would want to have a job in the future... things were tough nower days as jobs became a matter of those who worked in menial low paid job and those who were qualified to do complex jobs and thus paid well. Poverty was rife in Noitan Teppup and it was getting to people in a bad way... rebellion had been the latest outlet for their anger and it was getting more common.

The doorbell rang; Dan got up slowly and made his way to the door. Tom had already gone out with his latest love interest, leaving Dan to fend for himself and catch up with his work deficit. Ever since they had started looking after "packages" they had installed a peep hole in the door so that they can see if people at the front door. He checked now…

It was Randall, a man they recognised as a gopher for the “Rebels” if you could call them rebels; most of the rebellion in these parts was down to graffiti and vandalism, it was petty acts of crime which were hardly noticed by anyone as anything bigger would attract the wrong sort of attention. Of course, they promised more potent action as “one day the people will unite” they would chant… it was enough to excite Dan and Tom but in their hearts they could see it wasn’t going anywhere. Randall however seemed calm and reliable; it’s what made him a good in-between, taking the important messages and packages to the right people, always on time. He wasn’t a very descript sort of guy wearing his simple shirt and jacket with blue jeans… not the sort of man you could remember on a line up. He never spoke much which was rare with most “rebels”. Dan personally suspected that Randall knew more then he let on, perhaps he was a real revolutionary… someone who kept quiet and did his job without ever been found out. It is probably for the better that he doesn’t know much about him.

He let Randall in with a customary “Hello Randall” which was met with a quiet nod. He then took Randall to the package hidden in their closet.

“You may want to find a better hiding spot kid; like a loose floorboard or something… if the Feds find this you and your friend can forget getting a real job.” Randall stated, it wasn’t a voice full of malice or disappointment. Just a statement of a fact. Dan just nodded, Randall wouldn’t talk much if he tried to carry a conversation with him, he’d tried before and he wasn’t that sort of person.

“Keep your head down kid, after tonight things are going to heat up around this neighbourhood and you don’t look like the sort who could handle it… don’t take anymore packages, you hear?” Randall stated. Dan looked a pathetic as he thought about his future as a revolutionary…
“But…” he tried.

“They may start searching randomly and you don’t want to have anything illegal in here when they do. Good luck.” And with that he left… his words seemed kind cryptic but they made sense, if Randall was the guy he suspected he was he’d be right.

OCC: You're involved is with the rebel/terrorists but you can't actually RP rebel/terrorist factions unless they are outside of the nation, or attempt to get into the nation... getting into the nation isn't too complex but things can be done and this is a nation on edge, so it's advisable to be extra careful if you really want to try, such actions will face problems and will require detailed RP which may be quite demanding.

However, if you are supporting a rebel faction (they arn't united) you should attempt to contact then using RP, it's safe to assume you've got people in the nation and getting a few people for simple contact will not require RPing the enterance into the nation... however if you can RP the contact of whichever group you want then that would help.

Groups you are aware of currently, please note there are many more but these are randomly generated under the assumption that your men are only operating in a few areas:

> A group of students, young adults in low paid jobs and occasional unemployed people being supported by others. Their actions include graffiti, funding and recruiting for the cause... their plans are not currently known and you are not aware if anyone is on to them. Their connections are limited to some other groups but they know little.

> A small group of down-trodden unemployed men and homeless thugs. Their actions include vandalism, graffiti and theft. Sometimes they donate to other groups but mostly they are a group of angered citizens... their plans are not currently known and you are not aware if anyone is on to them. Their connections are limited to some other groups but they know little.

> "Burning Sun" A small group of men with hard to trace backgrounds, they don't seem to hold jobs and they get support from other groups which is hard to keep track of. Their actions are actual acts against the government (described in the other thread)... their plans are not currently known and you are not aware if anyone is on to them. Their connections are unknown but it is felt that they may have better connections.

Please note this is a pet project so I won't be RPing it often...

Meanwhile, times were tough for the Rebels over at Khatak Island. In previous weeks their raids were becoming increasingly hazardous as security was stepped up in the local industries... but that was only the begining of Jake's troubles.

Jake Panzer had been a soldier in Noitan Teppup's military for a small period of time before being made redundent as the government further cut military funding, his life had been in the military and while he messed up occasionally he wasn't a bad soldier, he took his lumps and did what was best for the team. Then, employed and without support, he became homeless and saw the poverty people were forced into... any job he could apply for would pay little, bearly enough to pay for rent and food, not only that but they could fire him without little notice, on a whim. Workers rights had long ago be sold by the corrupt leadership and now the wool had been taken from Jakes eyes...

A little after he fell in with people who, like him, saw the poverty, the life people would have to live if they didn't make it... and many never could make it with an education system which served only to train future labor. They had dreams and Jake had training. It didn't take long to connect the two and get something worked out.

They didn't have a name, but the government would simply call them "Terrorists", though Jake prefered "Rebel" or even "Freedom Fighter". He'd done his best not to kill innocents so far, but people would get in the way and do stupid things... killing occasionally had to happen to protect the cause.

In the past few days Jake had lost more friends then he has ever lost in a year... the efficiency of the hunts for his group had gone from poor to excellent without warning, yet he couldn't work out who it could be, he'd seen the Elite of Noitan Teppup and they were good but these guys, knew what they were doing, they had weapons he had never seen before and they seemed to know where Jake's group was going to hit.

Now he was hiding in the caves of the few mountians that Khatak Island held, they had enough suppies to last for a couple weeks, maybe let things settle down a little so they can think all the rebels were dead. Then Jake could move his group to another Island and start over.

It shouldn't be like this, Noitan Teppup's military was delapigated, rotten from within by lack of funding and government interferance... but these guys were beating his own Rebels in their own territory, ambushing them and leaving no survivors.

Jake simply sat in his private bunk towards the end of the cave systems... being in charge allowed him to have some private space, his lantern was off and he was surrounded in complete darkness. In the distance he could here the muffled sounds of his own people working in the distance.

Suddenly he heard gunfire echoing in the distance... quickly he bolted out of his bed and felt around for his rifle, he'd strapped a torch on to the weapon to help him get around armed.

The bastards dared to attack me here? He thought , slowly making his way towards the sounds of machinegun fire... the lights had been turned off, leaving only torch light to see by. They had long ago figured that they could easily hide in their own caves if they got rid of the light. Jake heard footsteps, so quickly he turned his light off... the gun fire stopped... he waited until he could see the lights of the antagonists, holding his rifle in preparation.

His current location was in a large cavern, it had been used to store dried good and had many enterances... howeer in the pitch black he should be able to see them coming with the lights they would have to use... night-vision doesn't work in the pitch black as it only enhances light, there was no light down here.

Light then seemed to come for all locations, he prepared his gun for one of the entances, now lit up by the far away light... it was followed by the tingle of metal being trown against the floor.

- FLASH - BANG -

Jake was dazed, he couldn't see and his vison would be totally shot in either case as the flash would probably blind him perminantly... he tried to surrender.

All they left were bodies... no captives.

The alleyway was dark, only little bits of light scraped its walls. From some street corner far off Juaner could here the sounds and anarchy of the city. A band was playing somewhere off in the distance, cars were buzzing by. A few people were shouting at each other, too. Over the arguing voices his associate laughed, lighting his cigar slowly.
“God, I’ve always hated these cities. Our people stink, they smell and sound of something awful. I don’t know what it is, but they got some bad stench about them. You know, I remember before the revolution these places were as poor as dirt. Now we all got a little life in us, but were still stinking-”
“Save it,” Juaner cut in. “Have you sent the message yet?”
“Yeah, I got one of my best boys on this. His name is Solra-”
“No names, remember?”
The other man stared for a second, then chuckling to himself he backed up against the wall.
“You government boys have been sneaking around too long. You’re losing your touch on reality.”
“I’m not in the mood for this,”
“Right, no names. But this man, he was Secret Police before the revolution. The last twelve years, all he’s done is mercenary jobs. Petty two-bit thief stuff. Heh, the guy almost pissed his pants when I told him he was gona get to do real work again.”
“Good,” Juaner grunted.
“You know, this Noitan Teppup place is changing fast. It looks like theirs gona be a military coup or something their soon-”
“My supervisors are well of the situation. Which is why we need to work fast and help get our slice of the pie. You’ve done good so far, keep me informed.”
Juaner started to slink off into the darkness of the alleyway. His partner stood there for a few seconds, watching him quizzically.
“They take their first few steps back into world politics and their already crawling to me for help.”
Sighing, he turned around and headed towards the street.

OOC: Before I acknowledge this post, you should pay attention to some of my preferences such as the requirement for some information like how you got into the nation... it's not hard to get into Noitan Teppup but it's important know know how.

Basically my problem here is: How do even suspect a military coup and how did you get into the nation? I expect people to say in their RP how they got into the nation, if it's illegally (i.e smuggled in on a boat or using your own boat) you will have to actually RP the enterance because it's illegal and has some risk. If it's legally then you don't have to RP the enterance, but you do have to mention that you did so because I need to know if you are on their system or not... as a tourist you will have to have papers and if you disapear people may take note.

The same goes for your communication via telegram. You don't know IC that I'm going to attempt a coup, you may suspect it but few military people will try and organise something without actually confirming the fact... whats more my General has no reason to trust you.

However, I'm not holding it against you, I'm just saying that I like to know where I stand and I like to have an understanding of how people are doing things... even if the explaination is breif, it's better then nothing.
