Genevican scientists have compared the current measurement of fish stocks in this portion of the Pacific with figures from two decades ago, and the condition is alarming.
Fish stocks have dropped in number 88%, especially those species targeted by commercial fishing vessels.
Genevica, as an airborne nation, has only the ocean for a major source of food. Our government is hectic trying to work out a closed ecosystem as trawler technology is nearly thirty years old, but until that research is made by us or another country, it is VITAL that some countries in the Pacific should switch to aquaculture instead of nonsustainable fishing. Our aquaculture ventures currently supply three quarters of our most basic food needs, and we've gone from daily trawling to biweekly, but the support of other nations in the region would be most appreciated.
