Brunei State Broadcasting:

"This afternoon, an historic moment in our nation's history will be reached. The Sultan has declared that while we have been able to maintain our independence and our economy has been successful, we lack the resources and ability to defend ourselves against a foreign aggressor or even to have influence on the international stage.

The Sultan in all his wisdom will therefore handover his role as Prime Minister for the first time since British independence, to a citizen of United Elias who has been mutually agreed by both governments. It is hoped that being under a United Elias protectorate and in a sense control, our nation will become more prosperous and more powerful. However the Sultan will remain as Head of State and under the agreement worked out, Royal Brunei will be able to return to full independence at any time the Royal family so wishes.

The transfer of power will take place later today at a ceremony in the grounds of the Sultan's main palace in Bandar Seri Begawan in the presence of all Bruniean Ministers, the Sultan and the Vice-President of United Elias."

OOC: UE once this is over you can assume control of my nation, however i will keep Royal Brunei in vacation mode in case I decide to come back and be independent again. Anyway feel free to do anything you want within reason. i.e. remember the Sultan is still around etc. Also try not ot get Brunei invaded etc. I’m trusting you.

Elias State News:

Good Morning, following several weekd of negotiation with Royal Brunei, teh transition of power from teh Royal family to teh Elias govenrment has been agreed and is obviously mutually beneficial. We now know that teh Vice President's aircraft 'Eagle 2' has been seen approaching Begawan International Airport in Brunei. With him is the person named as teh country's new Prime Minister Issam Zabalawi, who is a muslim which is seen as an important public relations factor given that Brunei is an Islamic State. Zabalawi has served in many positions of public office in United Elias including several ambassadroships and being Minister of Internal Affairs for nearly five years. By definition teh Prime Minister of Brunei is currently teh Sultan and he will transfer power officially at a ceremony in the capital later this afternoon. After the cerwemony is completed, the new Prime Minister will take office and teh Vice President of United Elias will visit troops from the 1st Airborne Division that have been conducting jungle training with teh Bruneian military.

The Vice President and the future Prime Minsiter fo Brunei chat in the large executive suite of the 777-200LR as the wheels touchdown on a hot but humid runway in Royal Brunei. They look out of the windows of the airfraft to see military and police vehciles escorting them towards them towards the terminal buidling, where doubtless, transportation would be waiting.

Outside the grandpalace on teh beautiful and large lawns, soldiers in ceremonial white uniform were in formation as the motorcade entered the gates, Elias flags fluttering from the Cadillac limousines. Once outside the canopy of the main entrance, the cars stopped and guards opened the doors.

A fanfare signalled the arrival of the Vice President and Future Prime Minister. Exactly on cue, the Sultan in his full military regalia appeared at the doors flanked by his Generals and he marhced towards the cars to greet the visitors.

He then shook hands with them, offered a few words of greeting before escorting them back into the palace.

Five miniutes later the men were arranged around a beautifully appointed meeting room and the Bruneian Attorney General begain to explain.

"Your Royal Highness, Mr Vice President, Your Excellencies, today we are here to sign and ratify the treaty of power transition as agreed by our governments. I have distributed copies of the final draft to each of you for final approval and providing there are no queries or technicalities, youcan sign it and its contents will immediately be in effect."

The delagtes reviewed the extensive document for about half an hour before the Vice President signed with his Gold pen after appplying the Seal Of United Elias. The new Prime Minister of Brunei then signed his own document, and the deal was done.

"Looks like we have a deal."
