Terrorist Attack in the Seven Isles of the Empire of Septema

28-02-2004, 20:23
At 1400 Hours today, a bomb was detonated in the public square below the Imperial Palace. It is believed that this was from a pro-democracy rebel group. The Glorious Imperator was only installed in office last month. This appears to be an attempt to assasinate him. He was out, and was due to arrive back around 1400. However, his car got a flat tire and was fortunately delayed.

We have discovered evidence that this group was supported by an unknown foreign nation. We hope to discover who this is, and ask for assistance from the international community.

The story behind the story (Please note you only know the below OOC.):

Glorious Imperator Eric J. Olsen sat in his conference room. He looked around at his advisors: Those in the military that he had firmly bought the loyalty of, the corprate interests that back him for his obvious favor of them. Also there were the directors of the directorates he had established.

"Our military is now strong. We must exercise it to keep it strong, just as we exercise our bodies." said the Imperator. "Ergo, we are going to conquer another country. They have to be smaller than us, preferably with a weaker economy, and preferably a democratic and/or communist nation. We need an excuse."

The Director of Intelligence and Security, Ralph Birgersgaard spoke. "The secret police could stage a terrorist attack, make it look like it was pro-democracy rebels with outside support. Make it look like they were trying to kill you. My men could procure some explosives not used in Septema."

"Any other comments?" said Olsen.

The Director of Military, General Robert Palme said, "The miltiary will be brought on alert when and if we exercise this plan."

Jack Baltzer, president of the country's main arms manufacturing firm, said, "We'll step up production. Easily explainable, since we just started selling things abroad, we would want to have a stockpile on hand to sell."

"So where should we do it?" commented one of the officers in the room.

The Imperator responded. "The public square, outside the palace. Shouldn't kill any more that fifty or sixty people."

"We could easily pull it off." said Birgersgaard. "The only question is when."

"A week from now. I'll be going out of the city on a trip to the beach. Arrange for me to have a flat tire on the way back, and schedule me to be back at around 1400. Detonate the bomb then."

Let us join up. We will send you humanitarian aid, and request you help us hunt down supporters of these terrorists, and the terrorists them selves. http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127127

Our small, weak military cannot be diverted any from our current crisis. They are all needed to defend us against these pro-democracy rebels.

We cannot offer help now, we need the altruism of other nations.

We pledge our support to your pro-democratic terrorists! You can expect more deaths to come!

The Phoenixius Council offers the use of their assassination squads to help root out, and kill the terrorist leaders.

In the conference room, the Imperator said, "Hmm... these people will make the perfect scapegoats. Mobilize the military towards their country. "Yes, Glorious Imperator." said General Palme. He pressed the touchscreen embedded in the table a few times. "It is done."

"Our surveys of the population indicate that a large segment of the population was made fearful of these supposed rebels. Blow up a schoolbus of children, and most of the country shall be opposed to any real rebels." said Ralph Birgersgaard.

"Do it. But only one. One and only one. We can't risk this being discovered." said Olsen.

Thank you for your support, Phoenixius. Your squads may enter Septema.

At the country's main military base, 7500 troops were mobilized. Each had on their back a standard backpack filled with the standard field kit. Also, each had in their bag a sniper rifle, an assualt rifle, a pistol, and a submachinegun. The military doctrine of Septema emphasized long-distance, accurate combat. They would try to keep the enemy forces at the absolute farthest distane possible for their sniper rifles. The pistol was a sidearm, plain and simple. The assault rifles were for combat under 600 meters, but were still extremely accruate. The submachineguns were for combat in buildings.

They walked onto cargo ships. Escorting them were ten of the nation's twenty Dauntless class patrol craft. The other ten were staying behind to help "fight" the "terrorists" and to safeguard the nation's borders. 2,500 troops were staying behind alongside them.

The ships set sail for the nation of Terror of the World.

*The assassin squads move in, sneaking behind a handy shed. Intel photos, beamed down to them gave the location of each guard. Moving quietly, the squads managed to kill most of the guards patrolling the area. Within sight of the main building the units clambered onto the roof and waited.*

OOC: Remember, we don't know where the terrorists are IC, just like you don't... because there are none. However, I would suggest you bring your squads to the capital to help us investigate.

Those who fight for democracy are not terrorists, but heroes.
The DSRO fully supports the 'rebel' group. If we could only send assistance...

OOC: Sorry, its was for another post where my assassination squads were active.

*The assassination squads Psi, Chi, and Phi enter the capital. They meet up with their contact for the Septema military, and are lead to their billet. There they await orders from the Septema government on the location of their first mission.*

"To be quite honest, we don't know where these rebels are. We did not even know they existed until after the attack." said Ralph Birgersgaard. "And the situation is worsening. Today, they blew up a schoolbus full of children. The oldest was seven."

*Spectre squads Psi, Chi, and Phi begin their investigation into the location of the rebels. Their work is hard, as they can find hardly any information of the rebels at all. The only information they have so far gotten on the rebels is that given by the Septema government.*
