The Ariete is conventional in layout, with the driver at the front right, a power-operated turret in the centre, the gunner on the right, the loader on the left, and the powerplant at the rear of the vehicle. The main smoothbore armarent has a thermal sleeve and fume extractor and uses the latest Galileo computerized fire-control system, the thermal vision night sight and laser rangefinder giving high single-shot kill probability, whether moving or stationary.
