Roma Domani

OOC: Ok...quick explanation. This is primarily to introduce Roma Domani to the scene and partially to have an open discussion on how R.D. will be run (if you're interested to know). This is modeled a little after Mussolini's march on Rome, followed by Generalissimo Verdicci's speech.
IC: The morning of February 25, 2004 dawned bright and chilly. A restless group of men huddled within the makeshift barracks they had built outside of Milano. They were awaiting Antonio Verdicci's call to action. The republic wasn't functioning as they wanted it to. In fact, the republic wasn't functioning at all.
The group was more or less made up of radical Communists and moderate Social Democrats. Verdicci claimed to be all and none. He said his views would allign with the views of the people, and no one else. But, he had, of yet, made no claims for democracy.
It was around ten in the morning when the door burst open and a soldier wearing an olive-green uniform stepped through waiving a red flag in the air.
"Revolution, Comrades! Verdicci has ordered the seizure of the capitol! Forward, Comrades! To arms! To arms!"
A great cheer went through the group. Boots thudded across the floor as the men grabbed their guns, their rifles, and whatever weapons they had.
As they stepped out the door, they were awestruck. There, atop a hill and framed by the sunlight was a stunning figure. It was the physical incarnation of Mars himself. A silhouette of a man in a military uniform holding a red flag emblazoned with a black cross and gold eagle stood defiantly atop the the hill. He called out to the crowd, and his voice brought great pride to the people.
"My brethren, my brothers, my Comrades, today marks a glorious day. General Ardulce has sworn allegiance to us and our cause, and vows that the capitol will be taken with ease! The Republic will fall and a new republic will be formed. The Capitalists who have made this country poor will pay for their crimes and it will become known that we, though yet without name, will bring back the glory that was Rome. Mussolini failed in this endeavor, for he allied with evil. Let us never forget the truest form that evil can take--one world government. And we know what organization seeks such government.
"To arms, Comrades, to arms! Let us go now and seek our fortunes in the annals of history, and Roma Domani's future."
And so, the great throng moved through villages and towns, gathering supporters. By the time they reached the capitol, their numbers had grown to over 10,000. But the news was already wide-spread in the capitol. The main road to the President's Mansion was lined with soldiers, all crying out the glory of Rome.
At 2:30PM, February 25, 2004, Antonio Verdicci stormed into the President's office and had him arrested. Soldiers were already rounding up the members of Parliament. With this news in hand, Verdicci stepped onto the balcony of his new home. A great crowd of people stood below, straining to hear his words.
"My Comrades, listen to my words and understand them. Today is a glorious day, for the Republic is dead! Let us round up the Capitalists and pay them for their crimes. They so do love to be paid. Did you know, if a man has one billion dollars after all expenses and spends five-hundred dollars a day on whatever he pleases, it will take him five-thousand years to spend every penny? How many of you are starving?"
There was support for this statement from among the crowd.
"How many of you are impoverished?"
There was greater support.
"How many of you wish for equal-distribution of bread, land, and wealth?"
There was a great cheering that took several minutes to quiet.
"Let it be known that the people have voiced their support for Generalissimo Verdicci and the Socialist government. Let it be known that Roma Domani will now be run, in every facet, by the people. Let it be known that the Republic is now, truly, a People's Republic."
OOC: Feel free to respond how you will.
