OOC: Having no horse in this game and using this method to get to General only because it's so damned slow, I'll try a prediction on all other replies to this post.
3 people will chime in with a question on how a five-day nation can have half a billion dollars spare out of the military section of the GDP, of which one will provide the link (freely available in the tech forum stickies) to where you can find your GDP. One person of this group (I'm voting different) will comment on how it'd take all your money even if you could, your pop couldn't provide support, it'd be a sitting duck, etc.
One person will point out that a carrier that's only a half billion would be a sitting duck anyway, on the modern field.
Two people will tell you to join their region/alliance without giving you a reason.
One other person will give you a reason that defies logic.
Two people will try to sell it to you.
One person will call them a godmod.
You will bump twice more.
