Earlier this week, Former Emir of Olavia Sir. Robert Hun died of cardiac arrest at the age of 76. Over the last decade, the shrewd political actions of Emir Hun turned the once republican government in Olavia into a practical dictatorship, and in the last few years, Olavia has been considered an absolutist state. Emir Hun had declared that his heir should be his first son, Matthew Hun. However, upon his death, the military stormed the Olavian capital, and within hours managed to assume control of the government. As of a day ago, the newly declared Olavian Head of State, Commander Karl Oden, has assumed power and is starting to completely change the system of government. The heir to the throne, Matthew Hun, has been safely escorted by Loyalist troops to the southern portion of Olavia, which is considered the main loyalist stronghold.
Meanwhile, in the Northern half of Olavia, several leaders of the Pre-Hun Senate are gathering support from much of the lower class. This movement seeks to reinstate a Republican government.
The Military state has declared that all the Republican and Loyalist leaders be put to death, but the Loyalist stronghold seems to be ignoring all commands of Oden and his advisors.
The Olavian Army, formerly 37 million strong, has split off into seperate groups. Most troops decided to go with the Military government, with 22 million siding with Oden. 13 million have remained loyal to Hun. The Republic has a measly 2 million of the old army, although it is by far the most popular choice among Olavia's vast lower class, giving the Republicans the potential to raise a large (if poorly trained) army.
