Kilean's Storefront!!! (realistic, actually)

<OOC>- I've seen a lot of storefronts, and for the most part I dislike them. So, I decided to make a storefront just like in the real world!<OOC>

KILEAN STOREFRONT:

T-72 Aust.K MBT:

http://operationcitadel.net/~matthias/nationstates/img/austk.png

Kilean’s standard battle tank is the T-72 aust.K- these are T-72's refitted with Kilean-made electronics and optics. With reactive armor and better antipersonell and nightvision systems, the aust.K has a pretty commanding advantage over the regular T-72.

The aust.K has fire-on move capability, world-standard electronics- including laser rangefinders and a new fire-control computer system- excellent optical sights, full horizontal&vertical gun stabilization, top of the line nightvision and IR systems and a cutting-edge radio suite. Composite armor inserts, a newer, more powerful engine, and a better quality of worksmanship and materials over the soviet-built versions all contribute to a very capable MBT. Although called obsolete by many, most of the changes to the T-72 aust.k are internal, and although it may not look it, in fact, this is a highly cost-effective and capable tank.

This isn't a tank made in inefficent state factories by workers that don't care. It's a solid, dependable design of excellent manufacture quality with fully modern electronics and fire control.

<OOC: Okay, looks like a storefront there, right? But here is the catch! Just like in real life, I'll only sell to countries that I am somewhat allied with, and guess what- the prices will change depending on who you are! My close ally who'se sent men to fight and die on my soil could get these FREE! But the po-dunk dictatorship that I sorta backed once in an RP? He'll get downgraded models for full price! Look at US foriegn military sales- we mostly sell weapons to make a political point- i.e. we want to back this country- it's never for profit, like storefronts. Anyways, more stuff (besides the pimped-out T-72) to follow<OOC>

EDIT: I've decided to be a bit more lenient. I'll have to overview your government type before selling to you, but if you're in a situation where kilean would want to help you out (menaced by communists, etc) we could give you the tanks at a very low price.

.....I just sort of put this here to impress you, there isn't any way you can buy this. Ever.

Oh, yeah, right- like I'm gonna sell you a strategic bomber. Sure, yeah, I'll give a nuclear delivery system to anybody who can pony up the money! THAT seems like a good idea!

The Falkon is the Kilean-made version of the Israeli "Lavi" tactical fighter- a project that was cancelled in the late 80's. Made in Kilean, the Lavi is a light, manuverable, advanced tactical fighter. It's bested the Mig-21 for manuverability in dogfights over the Kilean-Dibujante border, and is an excellent dogfighter, mid-range air combatant, and strike jet.

Specs are, as is the norm with Kilean military equipment, secret, but will be revealed upon demand to any interested buyer.

The Falkons are in-flight refuelling capable, and can use all western bloc and most soviet weapons on their pylons.

http://mercury.operationcitadel.net/~matthias/nationstates/img/cougar.jpg

Type: Heavy MBT
Designation: Pcz Mk. IV Cougar.
Weight: 81 tons

Engine: A large, powerful turbine engine propels the Cougar. Although a break from previous tank engines Kilean has used, the turbine (made by Ostendt Motorfabrik Gmbh) because only it’s sheer power could propell the massive bulk of the Cougar. It is a more advanced and efficient model than the M-1 Abram’s 1960’s tech turbine engine. However, the power requirements basically nullify the efficiency, giving the Cougar terrible mileage- .4 miles to the gallon. The turbine engine-through an advanced automatic transmission that gives the Cougar great poor-terrain ability- drives the Cougars wide treads, needed to insure that it doesn’t bog down in muddy terrain. Although it can make some 40mph on roadways or hard-packed ground, it can only really hope for a 30mph speed on any sort of rough terrain, and even that carries a dangerous threat of jumping tracks very easily.

Crew: 4- commander, gunner, driver, radioman

Armor: Armor is where the Cougar really shines. The front glacis plate, side panels, and turret frontal armor have depleted uranium inserts sandwiched between armor-grade steel plating to the outside, and deforming composite-based anti spalling armor within. The main body frame is reinforced in places with tungsten alloy/composite struts, and the entire interior of the tank is lined with Kevlar anti-spalling fabric sheets. The top and side armor is designed to “pop outwards” in case of a catastrophic hit to the front of the tank- similar to how the hood deforms to absorb impact in many modern cars- and the ammo bays are designed to blow out backwards. In addition, the crew hatches are fitted with explosive bolts to allow rapid crew escape if the tank is hit. A sophisticated firefighting system is also included, along with anti-gas filters and lead-foamed inserts (an idea copied from the soviet T-72) that give the Cougar the excellent NBC protection standard in all Kilean tanks. This is all in addition to good old-fashioned armor, which the Cougar has in spades, angled to greatest effect.

Armament: The cougar is armed with a 120mm Kilean Waffenwerke smoothbore long-barreled cannon. High muzzle velocity is the main killer with this fearsome weapon. The gun is auto-stabilized for full fire-on-move ability, and is tied in to the commander’s laser/IR range finding& targeting system. Combat load is some 85 rounds, usually an even mixture of APFSDS, HEAT, HE. Secondary armament consists of an MG-87 mounted on the drivers hatch, and a 14mm heavy machinegun mounted on the commanders coupla

Electronics: The Cougar is equipped with the standard KLM radio suite, for full integration with all Kilean units. In addition, it sports a reduced, local version of the Etronian BattleLAN. This system allows tanks to have access to data on their platoon mates- fuel levels, ammunition, battle damage, etc. Night vision/IR is available for all crew members. The gun is aimed using a computer controlled laser-range finding system. There is also a milimeter-wave radar, although this is never really used for aiming the main gun, as it is mostly used by the “firework” system.

The “firework’ antimissile system is similar to the dazzler systems mounted on US helicopters. It appears as a small dome on top of the turret. It uses milimeter-wave radar to detect incoming antitank missiles, and directs a medium-powered laser to “dazzle” the seeker heads of the missiles, disrupting their lock. It is somewhat effective, although by no means a foolproof countermeasure. It is high-upkeep, and it is nowhere near as effective in foggy or rainy weather. It is also useless against non-optical/IR or unguided antitank missiles.

The Cougar has entered into service with some armored units of the “first four”, but is a long ways from any sort of significant operational capacity. It may, in the end, not totally replace the T-72aust.k, due to its expense, high-upkeep systems, and poor fuel efficiency.

The nation of Kay Son is interested in buying 4 Falkons and 2 tanks you featured in the first page of your catalogue.

That's entirely reasonable. The cargo has been loaded aboard the next chartered frieghter to Kay Son.

85 Million USD for the whole order.

Yeah, a couple hundred. No way in hell am I selling with them.

But...uuh....is that sarcasam, or did you not read the first post? This storefront is a realistic one. That is to say, I only sell export versions of standard equipment like tactical fighters, tanks, etc.

Any nation that just sells nukes is being idiotic. You may give a closely-allied nation assistance but selling them is not only in gross violation of international law, it's also foolhardy in the extreme.

I am NOT going to sell some nation that just walks in nukes. I am not going to sell a close ally nukes. I am not going to sell ANYBODY nukes.

Unless it was sarcastic, and in that case, it's pretty funny.

ummm hmm.... can i have "assistance", a nuke shall suffice... basically, im a russian, i want more nukes.....
Kilean

No. There is maybe one nation I would consider giving nuclear assistance to.

Suprise, you are not it!

No please go away.

ok..... well then to the terrorist networks to buy back all of the russian nukes that are there....

Greetings and Salutations from the Non-Aligned Farmers and Workers of the Peoples Republic of Not quite Belfast.

We would be interested in aquiring 2 of the heavier cougar tanks for our DEFENCE force. We are a peaceful proletariat not aligned with our somewhat beffudled socialist comrades. We await your decision.

OOC: I would also point out/ask why your aust.k variation lacks definitve sloping to the front glacias plates which makes the tank unsuitable for open engagements.
Kilean
24-02-2004, 08:26
Oh, it does have sloping, it just isn't visible from the side view. The fenders hide it.
24-02-2004, 08:28
OOC: ah i see sorry i thought you had cut away the front oh don't worry thanks for clearing it up for me any way :P so about those tanks. ANd i agree completely about the whole realism issue for Mod tech weaponary. Tanks sporting rail guns which in real life take up the whole weapons system of a picket cruiser. Glad to see some bit of thought going into things.

very well said...I must compliment you on that, impressive reasoning. I've made 4 storefronts and never sold a nuke, but I never came up with a reason like that, good. of course I just tell them to bug off...but whatever.

The president of Adderton sends his kind regards to his fellow leaders. He is also wonderin' if he could buy three T-72 Aust.K MBT. The money will be wired electronically with additonal monies (we can only pay half the sum) made up in trade benifits (no tarrifs on imports from your country and half price on all exports for the next 20 years [2 days RL]).

The President of Adderton would like to convey his thanks and is interested in buying two of your planes. He is willing to drop all tarrifs on Kilean goods in exchange for a reduced price. As for our nation, we are interested in buying 4 more planes.

If the tariffs are dropped, then kilean would sell the four fighters for a total price of 60 million thalers (about 55 million USD).

The Falkons will be delivered maintained by Kilean Luftwerk personell, or qualified private contractors.

After much discussion with my collegue, the offer is amended to all tarrifs of Kilean goods to Adderton will be dropped. Tarriffs to the Republic of Kay Son from your country will be dropped to half. This offer will be exchanged if you drop to 40 million. (Even though our nation is not as ...colorfull...as our ally, our main specialty is medical research. Perhaps further exchange upon that matter can be added to that deal if you like).
Kilean
25-02-2004, 08:13
Hm......Deal. We'll drop to 40 million, but we won't fund the matinence. You will, however, be allowed to hire Kilean Luftwerke contractors at any time. (Kilean keeps a tight hold on matinence of all it's equipment sold abroad)

Kilean is actually in need of a good deal of medical drugs, as we are currently engaged in a full-scale war. Painkillers, antibiotics, atropene (uuh...just......in case), etc. Would be very helpful *wink wink*
Kay Son
25-02-2004, 08:30
You know a deal could be reached there, my friend. You see- due to the blossoming of our new found contact with other countries, there has been a motion within the Health & Human Services Department on expanding our knowledge about the outside world. I could commission a sub-division of our Health & Human Services Department to set up shop within your country to deal with whatever problem that you might encounter. This sub-division would, of course, be under the aegis of the UN Charter that recently got passed, and would have to be marked in a way to show our non-combatant status in your...disagreement with other nations. The only thing that might...disrupt such notions is the clause that you have attached on your mechanics. Perhaps my nation could expand the idea of a sub-division to an actual division of that department working within your nation, specifically designed for your needs. This would include mobile surgeon hospitals, aid stations, base hospitals for if your soldiers really get sick, and innoculation programs in the case of a biological weapon. But that of course is a simple speculation. We are happy to just stick with the sub-division if you like...
Kilean
25-02-2004, 09:06
Hm.....this sounds very good. Medical assitance would be wonderful, and the rights of neutrals would be respected.

Our funding of Luftwerk mechanics is pure coincidence.
Kay Son
25-02-2004, 09:12
Indeed. In lieu of such generousity, may our Health & Human Services Department be allowed to establish it's first international division in Kilean? Would your government be interested in partial administration of such a division?
