Rotovian National News Break

"Just hours ago a huge military mobilisation was authorised by Acting President Julia Aptiva. The target was the long disputed Island of Crete, which has fo rhte past fifty years acted as an autonmous province of the Allied States of Rotovia.

Two years ago the Island's Governor demanded he be awarded a seat in House of Represenatives, which was curtly denied citing he was not democratically elected.

However in recent months the territory has come under dispute with the Governor even building a private Navy. With national security becoming an increasing concern the Homeland Defence Fleet was mobilised around the island, enforcing a complete blockaide. It is believed a land force will be sent shortly to forcabley remove the governor. Who was ironically appointed by the Senate just 20 years ago.

Troops of the Imperial Guard and Imperial Foreign Legion have been placed on Deployment Alert, and are instructed to be ready to move on 24 hours notice.

The Foreign Legion's numbers have recently been swelled by inductees from Madagascar and Gabon, who are only too keen to be on the other side of the planet from the problems in their homeland.

All troops are carrying the latest in Imperial Armaments Lee-Enfield Mk III .303 Bolt Action rifles, with bayonet, and their skill is matched only by their opposition to Communism.

my forces are approtching of the coast of zakros, my fleet is 3 sheffield class destroyers and the support ship Sussex all troops will be ready to land when were of the coast, rotovia i await conformation that you requier help, also any forces near this area would be appreciated in a joint assult on the island at zakros

Force at Plaeohora will move north to Kastelli-kissamos after defences are completed at Plaeohora. Um,yes,my nation is militaristic and my military embraces a warrior code.They are well trained soldiers with high-technology equipment.And if you look at my battleship,it would take up to 4 others of equivalent class and firepower to destroy it.Of course,you would probably use mass numbers to overwhelm us.

My troops may be low profile but trust me,even a cobra like myself can poison the mighty elephant of Rotovia.

Anyway,I'm still neutral all the way.Besides,we are fellow members of the UN.We can mediate this conflict.

The FNS Nero is a Neptune class SSBN, converted to carry 72 "Scimitar" cruise missiles instead of ICBM's. As a class they were derived from a SSN designed, and so retain some hunter-killer capability. I will post the design shortly.

IC: 20 Miles North of Iraklio

Captain Johan Nathesen stared through the periscope trying to discern the coastline in the distance. Standing in the command centre of the Nero, he watched with patient eyes until the thin black line that represented land appeared in his view. He smiled slightly, having finally reached his destination.
Moving from the periscope, he called over to the Nav console to bring the sub to a halt. The soft hum that permiated through the hull suddenly quietened as his order was carried out, and slowly but surely the Nero drifted to a halt, maintaining a depth of about fifty feet below the calm surface.
Nathesen's orders were simple. Maintain a neutral vigil until a political decision was reached. The captain was a sucker for rules, and engaged a passive surveillance of the area. Retiring to his cabin, he ordered all weaponry to be armed, just in case.

The Dark Empire of CorpSac is fighting the Senate of Rotovia for placeing a Pupet in the presdant place and removeing the Real onee over the Elven Rights bill. the Senate has become foolish and power huggery.

CorpSac forces have started to work with local Commanders with tactical data. also provideing data on defecive and also CorpSac will be provideing stadard Milltary arms and Body armor that will surpply one divsion of Marines and one Divsion of infentary.

the convoy will be within island waters with in 3 days and will land at Plaeohora they will be escorted by 3 battleships, 2 crusers, 2 subs, 4 friagtes, 12 destroyers and an aircraft carrier.

Forces will intranch and will not move the other legion will arrive with in the next week.

OOC: Okay, time for some fun. Easy Green, Im assuming the fleet at Zakros comprises 3 Sheffield Class Destroyers and a Sussex class LPD. Im assuming this ships are identical to the original design in RL. If anything is wrong please message me.

The FNS Nero sat on the edge of the coastal shelf, 30 km off the coast near Iraklio, sitting on the surface of a high temperature current a hundred feet below the surface. Using the changing water density to hid its sonar signature and running in quiet mode with only passive sensors, the Nero was all but impossible to spot. The tension aboard the sub was palatable, especially in the command centre.

Johan went from console to console, staring at each screen, deciding on the best course of action. The rebels he was meant to be helping had suffered several defeats, and now was the time for a little payback...

"Aye, captain" replied the young warrant officer sitting at the comms. desk. "Three type 42 destroyers, batch....2, at a guess, AAW destroyers, and a Sussex class logistics vessel. Pretty standard outfit, nothing too sophisticated." Johan noded in agreement, his eyes looking at the schematics for the Sheffield class that had appeared onscreen. He turned and addressed the room.

"Men, we stand here ready to fire the Freethinker Navy's first shots in anger since the Secession war. Today, the town of Zarkos fell to enemy forces, we need to help our allies win it back. We are going to launch a cruise missiles barrage against the Easy Green battle group anchored off Zarkos harbour." His words were met with silence. Johan surveyed the faces before him. Silent, professional and without a visible trace of trepidation. Great men, Johan thought, and he felt proud.

"The group comprises three destroyers and a LPD. We plan to attack and hopefully sink them all. The Easy Green's have deployed another battle group, which will arrive in 48 hours. We have to succeed if our allies are to have a chance to regain the town before they arrive. It is time, at last, to prove why we are the best." The crewmen in the room, to a man, saluted the captain before returning to their consoles. Johan walked to the weapon stations.

"Target each ship with three Scimitars, I need garuanteed kills on all opponents, especially the LPL. Set waypoints to hug the coastal cliffs and mountains, I want the buggers to get the shock of their lives." The crewmen entered the data into his terminal. Outside on the top of the Nero's hull, two massive tube doors opened, revealing the rotary launchers for the Scimitars. Inside, Johan gave the final order.

"Fire!"

The submarine lurched slightly as twelve tubes were ejected from the launchers. Compressed air drove the encased missiles up to the surface, where the casins fell away and the Scimitar's own motors ignited and launched the missile into the heavens.

The Scimitars soon took up a primitive formation, grouping together as they hugged the terrain beneath them, taking full advantage of the mountainous enviroment to hide themselves among the ground clutter.

The troops in Zakros saw the missiles first, flying at supersonic speed above the ruins of the town. They clung low to the very end, heading towards the ships on their bow lines, rendering the CIWS of the Type 42's ineffective. The missiles put on a final burst of speed, before suddenly jumping into the sky above the vessels. A thousand feet into the air, the motors cut out, letting the Scimitars drop back to earth and heading towards the stationary ships below.

copral dwight looked at his blank sonar screen, it was almost hipnotising to him by now. all of a sudden radar to his right picked up 12 objcts moving in at high speed this was it it was time for action,

dwight felt the ship learch forward as he look at these 12 objects heading at him he couldnt get round how hed not seen them "damn these guys are good!!!"
essex london and liverpool all started to scatter all men abord preyin that those missiles didnt have their name on them.
All ships opened up with counter messures but still 6 missiles got through with a blinding flash the essex was hit twice the third missing by a few feet london and liverpool were surrounded by huge water spoutes as the missiles rained around them. One hit close enough to send liverpool into the ait she landed safely but had a slight list to one side.

all stations checked in on the london ok, liverpool reported she was takeing on water but could cope. essex however was silent, she was ablaze and listing to port the men were abandonibg her easy greeen was down to 2.

I assumed the two posts that displayed the arrival on the scene would cover travel time, though I guess in retrospect I should have clarified that. Sorry about the late entry.

The Nero is a SSBN, as opposed to a SSN, which I guess you are assuming it is. However, because Freethinker nuclear policy is based more on considered, rather than immediate, retaliation, SSBN's deployed on patrol are equipped with rotary launchers (each containing six criuse missiles) to replace the removed ICBMs. Thus, although the vessel only holds 24 torpedo-launched weapons, it carries 72 missiles in the ICBM launch system on the top of its hull. In RL, a similar modification is often made on Ohio class SSBNs.

The posts containing the Nero and Scimitar research threads are held on a private board at the moment, I will get it posted up ASAP.

Assuming retaliation, I guess the best bet would be the Lynx helicopters engaging the Nero, as the Sheffield class does not maintain any ASW weapons on the ship itself.

the task force intrepid is now in position of zakros, the force has been joined by 1 Swiftsure-class sub, 2 type 24 destroyers, 1 type 22 frigate and 1 landing ship. all forces have landed and due to the extra landing ship we have managed to get 5 cheiftain and 6 longbow mbts. the landing ship 1 typhoon sub and a type 24 destroyer are heading home to pick up supplys and extra logistics ships for the operation this will take 5rl days

John made a dash across the street to his left a building erupted with gun fire, behind him 2 commrads were cut down. this had been going on for hours one building was contolling the main square of sitia the forces just didnt have the fire power available to clear this threat.

with that he was cut short at the end of the street there was a thud and a building disintigrated.

again the commander was cut short by a destinct heavy rummble through the dust and rubble of the house a single longbow mbt energed leting lose a 120mm HE round at the offending building turning it to a burning mass in a flash of light and fire.

The Incorporated States of Katangara will not stand by and watch a small fledgling nation be crushed under the oppressive boots of a larger and more powerful one. Thusly, we are choosing to Commit the 101st, 102nd and 103rd Hawkers and 2 squadrons of Wolf's Head for covert operations.

These forces shall be deployed to the frontline Immediatly.

OOC: The ISk is a land locked state, and thus it has -no- navy. however, research on it's choppers has meant that long range fuel pods have bee developed, meaning a significant extension in range in exchange for carrying abilities.
theMilitary itself is almost completely Chopper based, useing it's modified Black Hawk's for deplyment, support and scouting in the field. each hawk fits a squad of 6 in it (when modified). each squad has been training together since Basic, and develop their own unique identities and abilities in Combat Situations.
The Wolf's Heads are our elite corps, consisting of 5 men per squadron, they are trained in covert tactics some might see as...slightly disagreeable. such as terrorism. this all leads back to Katangara's past of pissing off nations more powerful then itself :)
The Wolfheads will be deploying themselves on the mainland of Rotovia, picking out the 2 largest cities and inserting themselves into the population, attempting to gain jobs and blend in completely. this process takes about 3 months.

The choppers will take about a week and a half ot reach their destination, Kastelli, where they will more or less hit the ground running. their primary objective is to secure a landing area and an airstrip large enough to support a few Hercules Heavy Lifter Planes. (for the armor forces, dont'yknow)

which reminds me, could you let me know if there actually are any suitable areas for a Hercules to put down? if not is there any areas that could be cleared for 'em?

The thundering of chopper blades filled the air as the 101st, 102nd and 103rd Hawkers suited up and boarded their choppers for the long flight to Rotovia. Their AK-74's gleamed and their bandoliers where packed with ammo and water. Intelligence reported that they could be going upwards of a month without decent resupply.

Katangara International Airport, 1:00am, Incorporated States of Katangara

The 10 Wolf's heads all shook hands and embraced
eachother. they would be trickling into Rotovia's capital for the rest of the day, and would not see eachother for none of them knew how long before the code was given for them to meet and begin operations. traditionally that meant 2-3 months, although it could be sooner if the war effort is going badly. the first 2 moved to board their Plane.

Johnathon Rameshki sat in the darkness of his office and steepled his fingers. "Do you think i've done the right thing Susan?" he said to his empty room.
a female voice crackled through the speaker on his private phone.

The screens flickered in the dim half light as the Technicians poured over atlas' and the intelligence files on Rotovia. at last one technician sighed with triumph.

"Finally. i found out in the manual how to aim this satellite over long distances. we'll be getting a feed on Rotovia in about 3 hours, for a 12 hour window each day."
The only man in the room in Military Attire harumphed. "Better than nothing i suppose. we wont have another Prussia. ever again.


OOC: ok, im done now. just doing some story background on motives and stuff. the full story is way back when katangara was a fledgling nation they where accused of attempting an assasination on an extremely powerful nation. despite the then President's best efforts war came about. the ISK, using mainly recommisioned WW2 weaponry and vehicles snuck into the opposing country and razed one of thier cities to the ground. shortly afterwards the Opposing forces rolled into Katangara without opposition. the first shots on Katangarian soil where fired ni the City of Prussia, where 1/4 of the tank convy was cut off from the rest and slaughtered. once the other 3/4 made it around the river and back to the city the man in charge of the defence of Prussia made a bad call. The city was levelled from a safe distance and became a smoking pile of boulders.

After the attack by the free thinkers sub and the loss of one of our destroyers easy green have sent out the sub force of the fleet on the hunt.

The buzzing of helicopter blades filled the air as the 3 divisions, numbering 2000 men per division, flew into Kastelli. the choppers hit the ground at the regional airport and the soldiers inside fanned out quickly, securing the LZ as they had been trained. soon Kastelli was under the temporary control of the Katangarian Defence Forces.

"Command has suggested we go for a holiday in Zakros The weathers quite nice i hear, but the locals are unfriendly. intelligence places at least a division of Easy Green soldiers camped out there for the night. They've only just secured the town so my guess is they wont be ready for an air assault.
"Your squads will be roping down into the main street of the city, where we believe they have their command post set up. Alpha company will be in charge of securing the LZ, and Beta will beafter the command centre. your orders are to shoot any armed target that is -not- Katangarian. we dont know what the locals are like around there and whether or not their armed. if they've got any sense they'll keep their heads down."
Commander Griffin spat to the side. being a Career man, he had a low opinion of armed Cvis.
"101st, suit up. your airborne in 1 hour. be prepared for a long haul. do -not- skimp on anything. we dont want anyone dying."
The Commander surveyed the 101st as they stood to attention.
"Alright. Dismissed."

The choppers thudded over the small amount of land seperating Kastelli and Zakros. as they reached the hostile town they opened fire immediatly, twin miniguns firing off thousands of rounds at the troops gathered on the ground, sending them scattering for cover. many where killed, although it was hard to tell from this altitude.
the first 10 helicopters began hovering in the street, followed by10 on the command building. this was carried on until all 2000 men had been dropped.
*Alright boys. your on your own for 1 hour while the cavalry refuels and re-arms. good luck* Commander Griffin stated over the radio.
the squads scattered to their tasks enthusaistically, securing the large building they suspected as the command building and beginning the long task of clearing it out.

OOC: Easy green, its up to you to decide how many died in the initial strafing run and how prepared they'll be when the choppers come back in 1 hour. also whether we really assaulted the command building or just some large civilian building. my guuys are trained, but not elite.they will make mistakes and die like everyone else would.

This sounds like its gona be a good one nice start.
I will tell you now iv been on the island for a bit now iv had time enough time to bring in a task force as iv been here for so long.
anyway on to war...

Samson had been at his post now on EGS Intrepid for an hour the subs were out on the hunt and he knew there was plenty of air cover, he reached round for a cup of coffee when his station buzzed into life.
"This is bird watch to command this is bird watch to commant we have a flock in coming bearing 102,930 i repeat 102,930, they are huging the land and moving towards Zakros."
With that the ships of the fleet roared into life, pilots scrammbled to the their aircraft as men moved them into launch positions.
"This is the Admiral speaking we have incoming hostiles, ready the fleet Move the type 45s inclose this shouldnt be to hard to take down."

Copral Robinson lied awake he could hear the comotion on the ships but he didnt care they could handle it anyway they hadnt been told bout anything why should he be worried.
Then he heared the low rumble of helecopters comeing in fast.
The siren screamed into life.
"Shit fuck bloody hell, cant i man get some shut eye round here!!... Ok boys mount up weve got incoming"
The men of the 2nd armoured group scrammbled to their mbts andd bradley fighting vehicles.
The helcopters roared in low over the edge of town thundering towards the fleet and forces of easy green.
"target aquisition complet we ave locks on 3 birds sir Conformation to fire awaited"
"you are green for fire you are green for fire all systems open up"
With that the first type 45,Glasgow leased 3 sam missiles at the offending craft.
The missiles streaked over head and hit the first three choppers turning them into balls of fire instantly.
Before the fleet could fire a full salvo the choppers flared and hovers over one of the buildings in the main square. below the men of easy green opened fire but were returned with heavy fire from the choppers. The men absaled from the choppers onto the roof and began to lay down extream suppresing fire, the easy green forces had now choise but to keep low, They had landed right on the forces bunks takein the building quickly they soon had the building secure and could lay down fire at every angle.
"Bloody hell i dont know how theyve done it but they are in the town, this lot are either crazy or bloody brillient..."
The coppers turned to fly off but were met by horendus anti aircraft firew from the fleet 4 choppers were cut down before they left the town area. a few seconds after they had left a group of harriers roared over to catch these raiders.
On the ground their was a stalemate no one could move near the building how this was resolved would be very intereting.
Casualties look to be 43 dead and 147 injured in the first atack

OOC: Okay, we gonna start playing big ourselves. Two SSNs have already been dispatched with a travelling time of two RL days from now. Im also mustering the first battlegroup, which should arrive in 3 to 4 RL days.
Im going to post my naval listing and designs ina bit, just finishing them off myself. Needless to say Im stuck with just the Nero for the time being.

IC: Johan sighed, staring at the screens around him. The situation had had yo-yoed so concisely for the last few days that it was giving him a tactical migraine.
The high spirits that had accompinied the arrival of the Katangaran forces had been mooted somewhat by the arrival of fully fledged anti-submarine forces on the part of Easy Green. Johan felt somewhat stuck.
He decided the safest option was to make as quick a headway as possible towards the Western end of the island. He still had a head start on the Easy Green forces, and it was an advantage he didnt want to give away too soon. The only way he could be caught once he hit the open see was if they sent a Lynx after him, but the Nero carried Phoenix SLSAMs for just such an occasion.

Admril Robertson paced up and down the bridge of Intrepid the enemy forces were in his town but we`re pinned down and had no means to be evacuated, and he had a sub on the lose.
"well this is a barrel of laughs isnt it, any news on that sub?"
"no Sir its gona be hard to find it out there it could have gone any way."
"send Out 2 merlins on long range recon do jumps every 30 miles soon as they spot something anything get the harriers out there with some Sting Ray Torpedos i doubt it`ll do much but it'll get um worried.."
with that 2 merlins lifted off from the carriers deck and began on their mission maybe they would be lucky maybe it would be a waste of time time would tell

The thundering roar of the choppers returning to base in Kastelli was accompanied by the immediate scream of air raid sirens.
"WE'VE GOT INCOMING!" the anti air gunners where screaming, as the men who had not yet mounted up ran to their posts. the helicopters hit their base and began refuelling. the crucial moment when the birds where on the ground and vulnerable.
the roar of harriers came as they screamed over the base, their cannons strafing the airstrip. the first run catching one hawk on the ground and incinerating it, killing its crew instantly.
the harrier's where met by insisten anti air fire, and tracer rounds streaked across the night sky. one Harrier went down quickly and the guns began a heavy concentration on the planes. 3 guns to one plane, for a total of 12 guns. 2 harriers went down before the others retreated, leaving 8 more black hawks smoking and immobile on the landing strip.

Commander Griffin swore at himself and his staff. "Air fucking support. why didnt we think of it? GARGH!"
he rounded on his radio operator, who cowered back slightly.
"Get on the horn to command. see if we can get any planes in here."
the radioman nodded and turned to his task with great enthusiasm.

Commander Griffin stalked out onto the airstrip.
"SOMEONE GIVE ME A CASUALITY REPORT" he yelled. a stunned medic loped up to him and began to recite the figures.
"Choppers say we lost 3 laden inbound, tahts 15 men plus 6 crew. confirmed KIA. then theres the 10 choppers we lost during that air raid. thats another 20 pilots KIA plus about 50 support staff injured."
"And what about at the battle zone?" the commander spat.
"We dont know yet. word has it that our forces got into the building hard and fast and secured it. turns out there wasnt any command structure in there whatsoever."
"Damnit." The commander swore again. now he had a division behind enemy lines that needed immediate extraction.

"102nd! SUIT UP! YOUR GOING IN!" he yelled. the 102nd cheered and ran for their gear.

Sirens blared as the Katangarian pilots scrambled for the SU-123 Frogfoots. each plane was ready for action, equipped with 8 high yield bombs and a nose mounted minigun for air to air combat. their orders where to do as much damage to the aircraft carriers as possible and then bug out.
within 5 minutes of the alarm going off the planes had begun their journey. it would be quite a while before they reached thier target however.

The second wave of choppers came thundering in in a staggered formation, 15 at a time. the 102nd was heading in to help their comrades.
in the seperate choppers squad leaders where yelling avriations of the same commands to their squads.
"The Enemy is Prepared! they know how we're coming and from where. this is going to be a tough landing, tougher than anything you've faced before. we're putting down right in the middle of their base camp, and the helicopters will only be available for suppresion fire for a very short window. we will be doing a hot entry and bolting for theclosest buidling. all elements will redevous asap and establish a perimeter. from there we will be trying to do all we can to take out those anti air guns so the 103rd can get in here easily. i wont lie. this is gonna be hard.
"Good luck men, see you on the ground."

The choppers banked roaring in as close to the ground as their pilots dared.
the anti air fire started quickly, tracer rounds flying around and exploding near the helicopters as they weaved as best they could.
all around the scared soldiers chopers where being shot down. 6 had already gone down in the first group before the fisrt reached the LZ.
"GOGOGOGOGO!" the pilot screamed as the chopper flared inches off the ground. the squad jumped instantly, thier feet hitting the ground running as they scattered for the closest cover and began laying down suppressing fire. the helicopters put down everywhere they could before liting off and circling the base camps, their miniguns aiming for the anti aircraft guns.
when the last of the division was down the helicopters roared off, a full half having been shot down and 1/4 of those on the way in.

300 Men where KIA inbound on this raid. the death toll could only go up.

In an Underground Bunker, somewhere in Katangara.

"Linkup coming up in 3...2...1..."
screens flashed into life briging up the isle of crete.small motes of light danced around the eastern side, around Zakros.
the Military man smiled. "Good. Commander Griffin has gotten into it. how are his reinforcements going?"
a technician consultedhis screen.
"18th Artillery is currently 2 hours out of Kastelli. the Chinooks report the journey has been easy, but some of the groundhogs need to smoke more weed. their not taking the light to well."
The General nodded solemnly. "Most Groundhogs dont take their first long distance haul very well. give me a visual on Zakros."
the main screen fuzzed and gained calrity once more on zakros. gunfire was spilling wildly in the main camp from a small circle of people firing outward. those firing inward where scattered but slowly regrouping. further uptown one large building was quiet except for the occasional gunfire, the enemy surrounding it completly popping off shots occaisionally.
"Commander Griffin's HQ Team are sending their data on the firefight now sir, and are requesting an intelligence linkup." one techie stated.
The General nodded. "Make it so."
another screen flashed to life as numbers started to scroll over it. soon the numbers changed and words appeared.

The fire around the Enemys landing zone was intense it was a scene of utter carnage.
The chared remains of the blackhawks were strewen around like dicarded toys. and the mangled bodys layed were they fell.

Admiral Roberson paced along the deck of the flag ship he knew the fleet was safe but the ground forces were another matter, A copral from the radio room ran up to him
"Sir the big toys have arrived and they're ready to rock and roll."
"Their gonna have to be ready, I know whats happening out there but at the momment i cant do jack, i just dont have the man power to stop it What we got comein in?"
"The group commandar says he's got 1 more carrier ready two more type 42s and another 22, two ablion class assault ships and 1 supply ship."
"Any extra troops?"
"Only a few more men, an extra 3000 troopers and 100 spec ops. But on the good side the 23 armoured is here."
"Well you cant win em all Dispatch them all to shore now and unload the Supply craft its time for a doob i think."

5 minutes later.

" Well now the doob is done its time to get back to war, hows it goin on land?"
"We've got them pinned down but they've got us pinned down so to speak, sir its goin no where fast."

the landing decks of the carriers were a mass of movement as the Harriers began to lift off 3 had been lost already but still this was a hell of a force.
"This is Traffic controle we have a jam 14 miles west bound can we have a clean up unit inbound please"

The flight of 8 harriers screamed off as 3 destoyers leased off 2 missiles each at the offending birds, this would be close frogies were good aircraft and would be a challenge for the harriers.

We are here souly to protect our alliances with our fellow region nations. We will take all injured for all parties considered ally's with Easy Green and Katangara. We also will allow another nations navy to anchor with us of the coast of Crete to provide a larger Defensive floating headquarters if you will. The Easy green forces have begun their move across the island of Crete They are heading towards the port of Agios Nickolaos. With the addition of the new forces to the group this should not be a problem as the rebel forces are in disarray. Coms have intercepted a transmission from freethinkers but have yet to break its code.

"Sir, we have confirmed missile launches from the Easy Green fleet!" one technician hollered. the General swore.
"How old is this imagery!" he demanded. "15 minutes!" cried a tech
"How long will ti take those missiles to hit?"
"20 minutes at the very most!"
The General swore. "Get on the horn. see if we can give them any warning."

Kastelli, T-2 minutes to missile impact.
The air raid sirens blared once more as chopper piltos scrambled to get airborne. the 103rd where now the only people left in the makeshift base, along with support personell. the helicopters where full with the loaded out troops, who had been ready to roll. the support personell wherenot as lucky.
the entire 103rd had cleared the area when the missiles roared in. within seconds Kastelli had been levelled.
High in the sky, Commander Griffin swore.
"Alright boys. suit up. we're gonna take this fleet on."

The frogfoots roared inwards. each pilot of the wing of 50 was constantly scanning the horizon, so when the harriers showed up they where ready.

Sergeant Lee was quite proud of himself. he had taken command quickly and regathered the scattered katangarian forces, immediatly ascertaining the most defensible locations and popping the flare that would call all able units to that point. the fact that it had been the weed storage area was an added bonus, and already his men had rigged it to blow, although they had all stuffed their bandoliers with as much weed as they could carry.

"This is Admrial Roberson to the commander of the enemy force im here to make you an offer, Leave the weed and we will let you go because at this rate no one is gonna get any where, What do you say?"

Sergeant Lee smiled as the Admiral shouted at him. "Score one for the good guys" he muttered.

"I'm coming out. if i do not return to this bunker unharmed then the last chance you will get to be stoned is while your entire crop burns. got it?"

silence reigned, then finally a reply came "OK."

Sergeant Lee slung his AK-74 over his shoulder and walked out.
Admiral Roberson met him halfway. the two men looked eachother over carefully.

"Admiral Roberson" Said Sergeant Lee.
The Admiral nodded. "And you would be?"
The sergeant grinned and pointed to the stripes on his arm.
"Sergeant Lee, 102nd Katangarian Airborne."
The admiral was shocked. he had been outwitted by a Sergeant.
The Sergeant grinned and began to press his advantage. "Smoke?" he offered, pulling 2 pre rolled combat doobs from his bandolier and offering one to the admiral, who gratefully accepted.
"Your surrounded you know. we could take you out in an instant." the Admiral said.
"But you dont want to spend this entire war sober. i know that, because God knows i dont. so heres the deal. Your forces pull out of Crete for at least one month, and you can have your weed supplies. but to garuntee you wont betray us WE will ship it over to you."
The Sergeant crossed his arms and grinned, awaiting his advesaries reply.

Planes circled and roared overhead as the 103rd Airborne approached the fleet.
"Alright Boys. what ew're about to attempt is not in any manual. it is not in any history book. we are going to assault a fleet by rappelling in. your objectives are to either capture, cripple or destroy your LZ, before bugging out. A red flare indicates a capture. a Green, a request for extraction.
"The flyboys will stay as close as they safely can. that is all. be ready."

The fleet didnt notice the inbound choppers till they where almost on top of them. the AA fire turned and began bearing down on the helicopters, but they nimbly dodged the ponderous flak cannons.
soon the Katangarians where boarding.

Above them, the frogfoots where slowly loosing to the more nimble Harriers. half of the group had gone down to only 4 or 5 enemy casualties.

Once more the raoring of Choppers ran over Zakros. this time larger, more insistent. soon, the Chinook's shoewd themselves.
some of them had tanks suspended below them, some had humvee's and artillery pieces inside. all of them carried members of the 18th Katangarian "Groundpounder" Artillery Regiment. the chinooks set down outside town, offloading their cargo quickly and efficiently. but then they had a problem

a call went out over the local radio. a song dedication. "Take Away My Pain" by Dream Theatre, requested by KC to his girlfriend WH. seems they had been having a fight and now KC just wanted to see WH again.
The Wolf heads all switched off their radios. the gocode ahd been issued. they knew where to meet eachother. while they had not had enough time to infiltrate the cilian populace effectively, they had gleaned enough information to start doing their job. that morning they would all meet in a crowded shopping center to begin discussions.

OOC: rofl. hell yes. i may have a lot of people but they are still mortal. i didnt expect so much trouble from the easy green fleet. still, i reckon ive made a good move :)

Sorry to rain on your paraid a bit but the ships iv got the 22s and the 42/45 s are all anti aircraft they dont realy use flack they use missiles and cannon fire. Also they've got the goalkeeper system which is a close range anti missile and aircraft Mini gun so to speak but any way im goin with thisone.

The fleet was under heavy fire The missile systems were firein at an extreame rate the goalkeeper weapon system was churning out thousands of rounds a minute at the choppers as the circled around the fleet. Above them the aircraft we're ingaged in a deadly dule cannon fire filled the skies, missiles left trails to nothing or the flaming mess of a plane. 3 destroyers had taken damade invinsible had been hit once but was still sending missiles and fighters into the carnage. The destroyers main guns began to rumble away in the direction of the idle Craft as they unloaded.
On land the full armoured group had mobilsed and was heading towards the idle craft behind them men began to move forward using the tanks for cover. in the town the bradleys opend up on the second building tearing holes in the side the size of a mans head.
The 3 typhoons surfaced of shore and began to lease their tomahawk missles this would be it the forces of easy green were going for broke they were going for the win.

At the first landing site in the town the rumble of fire could easly be heard.
Admril Robertson took a long toke on the doob.
"This is bloody crazy man we're in the same region we have the same ideals and we have good weed why in gods name should we blow the shit out of each other? Iv got the whole fleet on the way your sending choppers against anti aircraft ships i cant keep up with where you lot are all the time as you cant seem to sit still for more than a second.
I propose this lets leave this island and stop the carnage now. you and your boys can get a lift near to home on our ships you can have a good meal and clean up. we've got a massive stash on the intrepid we can all sit down on the flight deck of invinsible and have a good smoke. What do you say can you get me a line your guys at the top?"

Admril robertson took a radio of the man to his left
"This is Admril Roberson hook me up on all channles."
"Ok sir hold on a second......... OK your clear to speak."
"This is comander robertson of the easy green fleet to everyone Hold your fire This is crazy at the rate we're goin nowhere no one will be left. Hold your fire!!!"

The choppers where stunned as fire stopped flying. flaring as they approached the ships the rapelling liens ready,a voice went down over the comms.
"All units stand down and return to land."

The shattered remains of the 103rd turned and flew back for land, grateful to be alive.

As the harriers broke off the frogfoots began to pursue, unable to believe their luck. then the call came through.
"All units stand down and return to land."
the pilots turned back for Esoxland, highly confused.

The 101st, 102nd, 103rd and 18th artillery regiment all met up confused to go over their wounded.
the 101st wasnt so bad. they had lost only 50 men, with 120 more wounded. the 102nd had taken heavier casualties, a full 600 KIA. the 103rd had taken it hardest of all, 3/4 of the 2000 strong division having been wiped out by the assault, including the brash Commander Griffin.

Sergeant Lee had taken over, being the man who had negotiated the truce. wearily the Katangarian army prepared to head home.


OOC: my role is now restricted to the wolfheads in Rotovia for a while. its gonna take quite a bit of effort to jsutify another support force to the parliament.

FNS Nero - Samaria Harbour

Heedless to the events 150 miles away, the massive bulk of the Nero entered the natural harbour at the end of the Samaria Gorge. Resting listlessly between the shallow, jagged seabed and the clear surface, it slowed to a gentle crawl as it entered what it hoped to be safe water.

Johan decided to try more armed intervention. This time he wouldnt take any chances. The Overlord system showed contact between Easy Green and Katangara forces, and he knew as well, at long last, that two escorts had arrived in Cretian waters.

Ten minutes later, the surface of the ocean erupted as twenty four Scimitars broke the surface and soared into the heavens, heading for the Easy Green fleet. Johan hoped they made a impression.

....

At first the no. 2 sonar operator didn't see the faint signal moving up behind them. When he did, Johan knew they were already dead. The Swift had caught up with them. Trapped in a narrow, shallow cove, the Nero was stuck. Her huge size made manuovring impossible in such a small space, and she couldn't turn in time to bring her own torpedoes to bear.

Two contacts entered the water from the Swift, heading directly for the Nero, which was now trying to turn hopelessly in the confines of the bay. As the Easy Green torpedoes closed in, two decoys were ejected from the rear of the Freethinker sub.

One was distracted, flying into the seabed. But the second powered through the mud cloud and hit the Nero mid-away along the hull, detonating harshly against the titanium frame. The skin of the NEro imploded, water rushed into the inner pressure hull, and the ship was doomed.

10 minutes later about seventy orange rescue suits appeared on the surface. Johan wasnt one of them. The blast and the subsequent wall of water had killed everyone in the Nero's Command Centre. The Captain had gone down with his ship, which now lay broken in two at the bottom of the cove.

The swiftre rose to the surface with the 3 typhoon subs they move din beside the orange craft and began to pull them abord.
"Sorry to say guys but just as you got hit the war ended everyones going home."
The copral reached ut his hand to the man in the water.
"What do you say the end or does this have to go on?"

Admril Robertson stood next to Sergeant Lee as they looked out across the fleet harriers landed on the carriers damage teams began to sort out the mess. smaller craft moved aound the fleet looking for people in the water.
"Iv got may boys lookin for any of your men out there my medic teams are on route to your air field with some enginers to help your lot out the decks of the carriers will be clear soon you can land there soon we'll med vac any of your seriously wounded for you to either easy greenor your home nation."
"Ill make sure we're ready"
"Good then tonight we doob"
With that they shook hands and began to walk away.
Admril Robertson turnned round
"Oh my men want thier happy back.. The stuff you took from the store it was our weapons grade stuff its our forces own brand."

IC: Samaria Cove

The survivors of the Nero sit on the sun-drenched deck of one of the Typhoon subs, drinking coffee and talking nervously amongst themselves. One of the few surviving officers, a young leiutenent, addressed them all.

"Crew, our government has declared a ceasefire. A truce has been declared, and we're going home." His words were met with no response except comtemplative silence.

"Let us remember our comrades, let us remember who we are. LEt us not forget the fallen. But now, for us, this conflict is over."

40 miles away, the sky lit up as the Scimitars self detonated harmlessly, falling in small pieces across the abandoned countryside below.

"I guess this is over...for the moment..." Said a single female voice, echoing in the darkness of a small office."

He walked over to the new commander of the survivours and pulled out a gold case he took out a kingsize roled doob and offered it to the man

Behind them 3 destroyers roled past a small force of 350 men 20 tanks 3 destroyers and a assult ship would be left on the island for a month to sort out the security of the island but that was it.

THe Katangarian choppers began lifting off from Zakros, heading for the nearby easy green fleet with the wounded and dead. the living would be the last to leave.

Sergeant Lee stopped as the admiral amde his request, turning with an innocent look on his face. "who..us? we didnt take any..honest!"
the admiral looked at him.
"oh all right. fine. i'll make sure the boys give most of it back."
