OOC: Here's the deal. We've got somebody who works for one of the Senators (the only main governing body in The Captain) and is unhappy with the country's ultra-conservative view towards his current social situation. He wants to leave the country secretly and live his life the way he wants to live it in a nice country where he can also make a decent amount of money. So you have to get him out without the authorities finding out. If you do it right, I will give you top secret information about The Captain that you may or may not find interesting. So, if you want an embassy in The Captain, you've got it, and it's in the same city as The Senate Chambers. Use your resources to get him out of the country. Since he will be my character, I am allowed to do with him as I please, including blowing the whole operation and having some good-old public executions, but that depends on my mood and how things are going.
Sign up if you'd like to be the nation that does it, keeping in mind that I can only have one nation at a time doing things. If I get a good enough response, perhaps there will be another defector after this one.
IC: Max Ventura lived a nice life with a home in downtown Mount Captain. He had a wife, Susan, and a son, Paul. They were pretty well-paid considering the income of most of their friends and neighbors. Those who were not raking in hundreds of thousands of Dubloons a year were generally looked upon as the outcasts of society. It was a nice-paying job that Max had, working in Senator Matthew Kelley's office. The Senator had been a member of The Senate for awhile now, and with more power for him came more power for his aides as well. Thus, Max was a content citizen.
But there was one problem. Although he loved his country, he did not agree with those who were running it. The Senate was extremely harsh on any of those who weren't part of the mainstream conservative culture of The Captain. There were those who were allowed to have some differing views, but most of the people who were vehemently opposed to the way of life in The Captain were sentenced to jail for life or deported.
Darren Curling had been Max's friend since they were in elementary school. Although their lives had gone in separate ways, they still made an effort to visit one another frequently. On his last visit to Max's, Curling had brought along his "life partner," Joe. Homosexual marriage was very illegal in The Captain, and homosexuality in general was a serious crime. Max knew that there was a problem immediately, as he worked for one of the most powerful men in The Captain and surely being associated with a homosexual would cause a scandal within The Senate. Rather than lose his job and be shunned by the entire nation, Max confessed to Senator Kelley that his friend Darren was a homosexual. The Senator took this news very seriously and asked Max to invite Darren and his "partner" Joe to a local restaurant.
Max did, and that night was the worst he'd ever seen. While they were waiting for their meals, a police task force rushed in and dragged Darren and Joe outside. The patrons were worried, of course, but they had done nothing wrong. When it was explained to them why the two men had been arrested, they all shook their heads in disgust for the men. The extremely popular consensus was against homosexuality.
Out on the street, the men were put on their knees and shot. They were thrown into a black van and driven off to the cemetery. Max witnessed the whole thing, holding back his tears for his "outlaw" best friend.
I've got to get outta here, he thought. Away from this culture and intolerance

Moved by author request.
Before I try and sign up, what security measures do you have to screen people coming inand out of the embassy. I don't want to godmod saying what I have so some personel and # of equipment numbers would be nice.
OOC: Sorry, I won't be trying the extraction at this point in time, but I'm tagging the thread... and if someone wants to hide in the Tahar Joblissan embassy, they are welcome.
The Tahar Joblissan embassy for The Captain was small, and had a staff of three. It wasn't particularly the most desirable post in the Diplomatic Service, due to the socially conservative nature of the country; however, it was there, and the posts had to be filled.
Melvin sighed. Slow day. I wonder if I can fill out another transfer request before dinnertime...

Anything that goes in an out of your embassy is merely screened for any hazardous materials with equipment that does not utilize x-rays. Other than that, anything put in a diplomatic pouch or cargo container is not touched by anybody. Your embassy is your own soverign soil, and we treat it as such. We may be harsh on our citizens, but we obey most international laws.

Doesn't anybody feel like going up against the Secret Police, Committee for the Security of The State, and The Senate of The Dominion of The Captain?
If you do, I'll throw in some biological and nuclear weapons secrets and systems.

Scellian Embassy, Th Captain...
The dull thudding of helicopter rotors of a routine resupply mission provided no relief for the slightly paranoid but immesuarably bored Commandant of the Embassy. Random public executions can get on aperson nerves, I just hope that that damn helo has something interesting for a change. Like a replacement. Ambassador Ruebin, a tall and gawky middled ages career man on the Scellia Bureu of Foreign Affairs, walks up to the top pad of the small embassy. The large glossy black helicopter sets down, three men get out, wave around strange devices before shouting 'Clear!'. To Ruebins great surprise, and greater apprehension and fear, the one thing he had hoped never to see walks down the helicopters ramp. Clad in futuristic spidersilk/titianium armor the commando from the elite Scellian unit known only as the 'Gods' langouriously strolls down the ramp. The leader is flanked by two other Gods, his gun is not in his hand but the two guards have their massive M-82A1a's out. The .50 Caliber rifles make the paired MP-5K's and each armored behemoths hip seems toys in comparision. The amplified voice booms from the leader, "We have to come to oversee operations here, and make sure that all is going as is directed." Ruebin is strongly reminded of the fictional character Darth Vader, but with a massive gun. The three Gods finish their descent, and move without instructions into the building. Three crates follow them, moved by the people with bug testing equipment. Ambassador Ruebin swallows nervously, for once, he got his wish of something interesting to happen.

Max sat at work the next day, doing the things that the Senatorial staff does. Senator Kelley came into his office and congratulated him on the great job that he'd done in helping rid the country of "those awful cretin."
"Son," The Senator always called his male workers "son." Max hated that. "You did your country a great service last night. We're going to give you the standard reward, and a little extra for making my office look good."
"Thank you, sir!" Max was trying the best he could to make himself look genuinely happy. The money was going to be a help. His family could use the $25,000 reward that was the standard, plus a hefty bonus from Senator Kelley.
"Well, you've done your country a service. Now it's time to do another one. I need you to bring these papers to the Scellian embassy right away. Here's some background information on Scellia."
Ventura read over the briefing on the nation. Hmm, a democracy. I wonder what kind of freedoms they have there. He paused for a minute. What am I thinking? Where would this get me? He took the packet of documents and went down to his car.
Senator Kelley offered an official car to Ventura, but he declined. The official car would have a driver, and the driver would see him scribbling a message and putting it into the stack of papers. Ventura got to the embassy and dropped off the papers with the appropriate people. He hoped they would find his note...
Dear sirs,
I am looking to "take a vacation" from The Captain. I have looked over your national profile and am interested in Scellia. To let me know if you accept, please send a message to Senator Kelley's office that requires a hand-delivered reply.
Be cautious. Enemies everywhere.
Ambassador Reubin looks over the standard comminique, trying ot regain that sense of boredom that he so long sought to elude. As the handwritten note falls from the stack Reubins stomach congeals to ice, meer moments after he finishes reading the quickly scrawled note Ruebin fells a cold presence. Then the sound of mechanical breathing intrudes on the silence of the room, turing in his chair Ruebin swallows nervously, a God looms over him. "Uhh, sir. We just got this in the, uhh, documents. It looks like we might have a defector, uhhh, what was your name?"
"You need not knwo my name, sir suffices. The Gods will handle this, you need only pass along information." The note seems to teleport from Reubins hands to the Gods, he can barely follow the lightening quick motion of the commando. The God sweeps from the room, leaving it a much more relieved place.
As you are well aware, Scellia as a large Uranium Mining sector. As such we are mildly interested in beinging an export trade, we require a quick response and possibly an Captian Attache to be used as an courtier.
OOC: Is a large supply of Uranium a large enough lure for a attache to be assigned? This might slow down for the next couple of days, I can't guarentee that I will be someplace with internet access.
The Captain
26-02-2004, 05:13
OOC: That's fine. We'll make do with the uranium... to make thousands of more bombs!
IC: Senator Kelley received a reply from the Scellian embassy. The documents were received, and a new lucrative offer had opened itself up with uranium mines. Kelley, being The Senator in charge of the Foreign Trade Committee, already was in the position to make an offer of a courier to the Scellian embassy. But who to pick...
He lifted his phone receiver. "Ventura, come into my office for a minute."
A few seconds later, Ventura arrived in Kelley's office. He'd been there before on many occasions, but for some reason things felt different this time. He was nervous. Thoughts ran wildly through his mind. Have they found me out? So soon? It can't be... or can it?
"Y-You wanted to see me, sir?"
"Yes, please have a seat." Ventura sat down. "Max, you did a good job yesterday with those horrible men. But you can't work in my office anymore."
Max Ventura froze in shock for a minte. I'm going to be shot. There are probably men outside right now. "Why is that?"
"Max, you're becoming the new attache to the Scellian embassy. You will still be a party of the committee, and you'll still be answering to me, but you get a new office closer to the embassy. There's a pay raise with that too. You're doing quite well for yourself this week."
Max's stomach sunk and that feeling of dread left him. It was such a relief. "Thank you sir! I am doing well for myself, aren't I?" he said as he laughed as normally as he could.
"You've earned it. Of course, you'll have to write a report to the Committee for the Security of The State every week, to keep us on our toes about Scellia. Pack up your desk and I'll bring you to your new office."
***************
Ventura took his own car to the new office, following Senator Kelley's government car, a Beltley Arnage. When they were there, Kelley led Ventura to a large, nicely-decorated corner office. It was a surprise to Max that the government was finally treating him well. Probably to keep me from defecting. Or to make me more generous with the information I give them... Either way, this office isn't safe.
Max's thoughts were cut off by Kelley. "Ventura! You have a meeting with the Scillian embassy officials in 2 hours."
OOC: The Uranium idea will become more important later on, during extraction.
2 hours later....
A small nervous man, whom Mr. Ventura has been told is the Scellian Ambassador Reubin, ushers Max into a small dark room. From the far side of the room the sound of harsh mechanical breathing hisses in and out... in and out. Max is almost mesmerised by the repetitive sound. The Ambassador tries to hit the light switch, failing the first couple of times. This man just can't be the Scellian who will get me out, there he finally got the lights, oh... that must be who I'm working with. A God stands in the dimmed light, faceplate tinted as always, weapons in clear view.

"Uh... hello. I'm Max. I'm here to talk about some uranium contracts." He held up the papers and winked. He walked up closer to the sitting Scellian and whispered "In case you haven't realized, I'm that guy who wrote the letter." He coughed as to clear his throat an said "Now, we've got a lot to talk about, what with the uranium."
OOC: My peoples coming knowledge was not Godmod, I have a system called NIRTSat that allowed me to keep close track of Max.
"Reubin, you may leave now. Mr. Ventura, Uranium is not what we have in mind. Scellia has always been suspicious of dictatorships such as this, and we need information. Your possible defection has caught our attention, and we need answers. We can get you out, by the next morning. You can be assured that this place is clean, Scellia prides ourselves on being technologically advanced. You have something you wish to say?"
This entire speech is delivered in a cold monolouge, as if the person doesn't really care what happens. The 'Ambassador' scrambles from the room at first sign of the God permitting it.

"Tomorrow!" Max was surprised at the offer. He was expecting at least a few weeks, if not months. "So soon? I don't know if I can do it by then. I mean, I have my wife and children to worry about. And my job. They'll notice if I go missing right away after being given this job. The CSTS is very effective in noticing anything that might be compromised. I can get you so much information if you'd like if you give me more time, too."
The armored God is barely phased by the complications, taking a few seconds. "Wife, children. Fine. We need to know how many and what condition, we will arrange your deaths. Your government will think you dead, we can assue you of that. If they don't there will be nothing linking Scellia to this incidence." A fax near Max starts to rattle off a page, stratling him at its sudden activation. "This is a formal document gving our tenous approval of you, and requesting that you be supplied with the nessesary aids. It also wants someone that you have worked with closely for years. Am I correct in assuming that your wife is or was a secretary? We will set a date, one week from now. We can get all.... democraticy, and ask to see your kids since we are such syrupy free saps. I'm assuming that after your success here tonight that you will be able to get your wife assgined to you?"
Before Max can ask what success, the God dropped a heavy cylinder about the size of a telephone onto the table. "This is your success, it contains a sample of fuelrod quality uranium. Of course there is not enough here to do anything with, but this should make your governemnt very happy."

Outside of the Scellian embassy, the rooftop observatory was monitoring things that were going on. The helicopter that landed there the other day had roused suspicions, and the Committee for the Security of The State was now aware that there were heavily armed guards in the Scellian building. The observers had notified their superiors, but not a lot of attention was paid to it. Maybe one of them saw the display the other night and is afraid that his own homosexuality would get him in trouble here, one of the CSTS colonels had thought. Of course, foreign diplomats were not held to such standards of morality by the citizens of The Captain.
The CSTS kept a close watch on all of the embassies around Mount Captain, mostly to see if they could catch wind of anything going on. Usually nothing happened, but spies and treasonous citizens were caught every once in awhile.
***************
Back in the Scellian embassy
"Sir, I have my wife and one son. My wife is a teacher at the local elementary school, which my son attends. I would rather die than leave them here, so we must take them too. Can I ask how you'd make me look dead? The CSTS and police have very advanced CSI teams that look for holes in stories. I would implore you to do a very tidy job."
After saying that, Max took the cylinder of uranium and went to walk out the door. "Thank you, sir. Is there a name I should call you?"

Ventura got back to his office, where Senator Kelley and an agent from the Committee for the Security of The State were waiting for him. He was a bit shocked to see the man in the black suit and hat sitting at his desk, but everybody usually was if they had to talk to one of the CSTS agents. He was talking casually enough with The Senator, but that wasn't any tribute to his personality, as The Senate payed the man to work.
Max walked in casually enough, trying not to show any fear or timidity. He was still carrying the uranium container, and almost forgot about it if not for the CSTS officer mentioning it.
"Mr. Ventura. I'm Major Berlitz from the CSTS. We're here to debrief you about what you saw in the embasy. What's that you've got?"
"It's uranium, sir," Max replied. "They wanted me to offer it to you."
Senator Kelley took the container. "I'll have this sent to the labs. You two enjoy yourselves."
When Kelley left the office, Berlitz sat back in Max's chair and told Max to have a seat somewhere else. "Now, let's begin. What did you see when you were there?"
Things went on for about 30 minutes, when Berlitz was satisfied that he had all the information he could get out of Max. It wasn't a lot of useful information-- the floor plan, the bumbling ambassador-- nothing juicy.
OOC: Whew, made it back from the Speech and Debate tournemeny alright, now I get back to posting here more often.
BEFORE:
In repsponse the the problems laid out the the God only says, "Get your eife assigned as your sectretary, the next time you come we will have a plan laid out. For now I need your wife as a secretary, we could do this with that but it will be much better if you can get her here."
The Captain
04-03-2004, 05:29
When Major Berlitz was finished with Max, Senator Kelley came into the office. "Major, thank you for your continued service to The Captain. I hope things went well."
"Yes, Senator. I live to serve The Captain." Berlitz left the room.
Ventura spoke when Berlitz was gone. "I hope I helped the CSTS with information on the Scellian Embassy."
"Max, I'm sure you gave them all the information they needed."
"Thank you sir. I do have a favor to ask though."
"Yes?"
"Sir, my wife has been looking for a new place to work. She likes the school and all, but, with the new position open in your office, I was thinking maybe she could work there."
"I'm sorry Max, but she's a teacher. She has to stay at her job. We need teachers, and I don't need a new secretary."
"Yes sir, thanks for listening." Max was disappointed that he couldn't deliver to the Scellians an ideal situation.
A dispatch came in marked for the Scellian embassy. "Here you go, back to work!" Senator Kelley said.
Once Max makes it back to the Embassy and reports the news the God provides him with an alternate plan. A projector hums to life behind the God and the room Max is in plunges into darkness. The gravelly voice outlines the plan, "This will kick off in exactly one week. Your wonderful negotiating will come to a head in a embassy dinner where we will hammer out the the last terms of payment. Your wife and child will be guests, and we will be very offended if your government doesn't let them come. In Scellia family is very important and often a measure of how a person is dependant of how their family acts. Once you're here, the first shipment of uranium will arrive. People of the same size as you will be guards for the shipment, so you will be smuggled off as guards on the departutre fo the plane arriving with the shipment. The crates will actually contain Thermite explosives laced with radioactive material. It will vapourize the entire building. Leading up to this emabssy staffing will be reduced due to budget cuts so that only us three, the ambassador and his three aids will be left. We will be part of the guards leaving, your child will be in the center of the group so no one, even an aicraft, can see your child. The ambassador will be at your government building making travel arrangments with them and has no idea that we will be blowing up the building. The radioactive thermite will look like a regular Thermite placed among a shipment of Uranium, and a terrorist group will claim responsibility. There will be no evidence to suggest you were never there, the entire building will be vapourized AND radioactive. Be ready in one week, if you can."
The Slideshow ends but only half the lights turn on, "You have a communicate for me, no?"
The Captain
08-03-2004, 05:28
"Mr..." Max paused to realize that he didn't know who he was working with. "I don't even know what to call you. I like that idea, but I don't know how feasible it would be. I don't think that blowing up and making part of downtown Mount Captain is such a good idea. I mean, I still have friends who live here, near the embassy.
"Besides," he went on, "there is a nationwide curfew for everyone under the age of 18. I'm afraid that a dinner party would be out of the question for my son. And I don't want them to see any harm come to their nation just because I'm leaving. I'd like you to find another way."
"The curfew will be lifted for this event, trust us. Make the nessesary preprations, the bomb will not destroy anything but the place where youe are supposed to be and perhaps some some cosmetic damage to the surrounding buildings. The curfew won't be a problem, we have a lure that your government WON'T refure. Remember, one week. The invitation go out day after tomarrow, plus the bait for your governemnt to sink their teeth into."
OOC: I do have a lure that you really will let the curfew be broken for.
The Captain
08-03-2004, 07:57
"Well sir, if you say so, then I will tell my wife and we will attend your party with our son. I don't know how you're going to lure the government to break the curfew, as they only allow it to be broken for religious, work, and school reasons. As far as I can tell, this party is none of those."
Max left the embassy and brought a message back for his office to deal with. He went home to break the news to his wife.
The usual car followed him, but he didn't notice. Max never noticed the black Audis following him, but he should have learned better by working for The Senate. His paranoia was actually blocking his ability to notice things that were right in front of his face.
He parked his car outside of his apartment complex, unaware that the CSTS had taken out rooms next to him. They were covering as a married couple and two male roommates looking to save money, respectively. Expensive listening equipment was set up in both rooms. Major Berlitz had become very interested in Max since he started becoming cozy with the Scellians.
"Hey honey! How was your day?" His wife answered and they talked for awhile, nothing interesting. Max's suspicions about listening devices weren't unfounded. He motioned something to his wife and then wrote something down. There was silence for a minute and then more scribbling. The CSTS would have to go through Ventura's garbage that night...
2 Days Later...
Scellian Commique:
Scellia is preparing to offer the governemnt of the Captian a substantial increase in the influx of information and uranium. Recently we have developed a new class of weapon, the Gigaton Nuclear Bomb. If we determine that you and your people are worthy of this honor then we are willing to exchange with you 5 of these devices. A banquet will be thrown at the Scellian Embassy to celebrate this happy event, and prove to us that your people deserve this honor. To that end the person most vital, and we know not to be specially selected for the task, will be invited along with his entire family. This will take place in 5 days, when the first shipment of uranium will arrive, this banquet has been scheuduled to that date specifically and that is our official reason for the celebration.
OOC: So, will they break the curfew for a 1.25 Gigaton nuclear device?
The Captain
09-03-2004, 06:29
Senator Kelley looked over the communique from the Scellians. That's interesting, they're asking permission for the man's family to come he thought.
He called Ventura over to his offices to talk about this matter. He then placed a call to Major Berlitz.
"Yes Major, things do look interesting. He's becoming quite at ease with the Scellians... Why don't you go ahead and do that." Kelley had just given Berlitz orders to search through Ventura's office. Max knocked on Kelley's door. "Major, I have to go. I'll try to keep him here as long as I can."
Kelley motioned for Max to come in. "Max, how are you liking your new job?"
"It's going really well. I've gotten to know the ambassador, and it looks like we're going to do well off of this new arrangement with the Scellians. I hear they want to give us some bombs."
Kelley nodded, his recording device taking in every word Ventura said. "Max, that is what worries me. Why would they give us nuclear weapons? No nation wants to voluntarily give another one nuclear arms, especially to a nation like The Captain. I think they might try to be pulling something over on us."
"Sir, I have no indications that the Scellians would try to do such a thing. I'm sure they just want to throw a banquet for me and my family due to the good work I've done."
"That's another thing Max. You know your son cannot attend. It would be breaking the curfew that we have for children. Every child in this nation cannot be allowed out to cause mischeif and mayhem after 8 pm." Kelley didn't mention that his kids could do pretty much whatever they wanted without fear of punishment.
"But sir," Max pleaded, "the Scellians are big on family. They said things would look poorly for us if my family wasn't there."
"So what?" Kelley responded. "They're Scellians. We're The Captain! We do things our way and they can shove it if they don't like it."
"Yes sir. I understand." But he didn't. "Do you have anything for me to bring over there?"
"Yeah, hold on a sec." Senator Kelley typed up a response. "Take this to them."
Scellian Embassy Representatives
We find it surprising that your government wishes to give us nuclear weapons. What we find even more surprising, though, is that you would wish to have children attend your event. What kind of child should be exposed to such a weapon of mass destruction? What kind of message would that send? Another reason why children cannot attend is because we have a nation-wide curfew. Children are very inquisitive creatures, and if they see one child outside, they will ask why they are not allowed. That will snowball into problems, and we will soon find our prisons overrun with children. Nobody wants that.
The Senate wishes to view this event though, if it is to take place, and we therefore would like to move the event to a larger venue. There are many places in Mount Captain that would be capable of holding a large uunveiling, and we would be able to provide our own security. Please let us know how many will be in your party so that we may prepare.
Unfortunately, aides are not welcome at Senate functions, and Mr. Ventura would not be able to attend. We are sorry if this causes an inconvenience, but those too are our laws.
If there are any problems, please let me know. Mr. Ventura so enjoys taking messages back and forth.
Senator Matthew Kelley
OOC: Oops, I should have been more clear when I said that this was to be a part of the negotiated deal and not free weapons.
The God reads the message, and a slight shake of the head heralds his amaze meant. "They dare deny us this small favor? Do they understand that this weapon has a yield of 1,250 Megatons or 1.25*10^12 tons of explosive power? I have a message for them, and they will listen. We may need backup on this one, get an EB-1C to flirt around the outside of their airspace. They won't be able to see it so it will be safe."
Scellian Communique:
We offer these weapons as part of the uranium deal, not a free gift. We are sorry if that was the impression. Since you believe that we are gullible enough to let you handpick a person groomed to impress us so that we won't pull out we are currently considering halting negoetations totally. We had thought that we were making progress but this direct insult unto our ways and our intelligence is something we can't ignore. We hope that your representative will bring us news of amends, either you allow this interview or we take ourselves home. We had thought that you respected our intelligence if nothing else, obviously we were wrong.

A knot was tying itself tighter and tighter in Max's stomach as the days went by. He was beginning to feel that things wouldn't go as planned, especially since a lot of new snags had hit the Scellians. They didn't seem too bothered by it, but they were offended at The Captain's arrogance. You and me both, Scellia, he thought. Ventura was personally tired of The Captain's jingoism and nationalistic ego.
Max shuttled the letters back and forth, wondering if anybody was on to him. He hadn't noticed anything suspicious, but he wasn't the most vigilant person. When there weren't any cars following him, the CSTS usually had a helicopter on his tail. His coverage was so saturated that whenever Max walked anywhere, there were people watching him. The joggers on the sidewalk, the businessman walking to work, the hot dog vendor, they all were agents assigned to Max.
The Captain Central Air Command
"Sir, our air patrols are monitoring a plane that is sticking a certain distance from our borders. It appears to be Scellian."
"Scellians, huh?" the colonel asked rethorically. "They seem to be in the news a lot lately. Something about uranium."
"Yes sir, like The Captain doesn't have enough of that already."
"It makes our job easier, Captain. Let's radio this up to the bosses."
Senator Kelley's Office
"Scellian planes on our border? Things look quite interesting. Our friends are getting antsy," Kelley thought aloud. Major Berlitz was in The Senator's office discussing the recent findings on Max.
"Well, Senator, I bet they find us intimidating. I bet they find our boy Max pretty interesting. He's probably got a lot more in common with them than he does with us. He's been acting strange lately."
Kelley was intrigued. "What kind of strange?"
"He's been a lot more quiet at home, like he's got something to hide. Then, we pick up some scribbling noise like he's writing things down instead of saying them aloud. I've got my men installing microcameras in his house now to take care of that."
"Very well, Major. Hopefully we will have things solved soon. Max is on his way now, so you'd better leave to avoid any suspicion."
Later
"Max, this is very disenhearting. The Scellians are insulting the way our nation does things. They are in The Captain, but they still want to do things their way. I won't have it. Not in my nation. Not down the street from my office. Take this letter to them."
**Official**
Scellian Embassy,
Please be aware that we are in The Captain. You will not address us in this way. We have what you want, not the other way around. We are quite capable of creating our own weapons, but you seem to be in need of the cash we would pay with. We are doing you a favor by accepting your weapons. If you wish to cancel things, that is fine. We do not care. Only your apologies can mend this situation.
Senator Kelley
Max's Car
This is never going to go through now. I hate my nation. The Scellians are going to abandon this and abandon me. I'll be stuck here in The Captain, oppressed for the rest of my life. My son will be taught to hate people like me in school and probably turn me in to the authorities.
He pulled his car through the gates of the Scellian embassy. He was sure that he wouldn't be happy with the reply he'd have to bring back.
OOC: OK, please explain how you detected a plane that is at least twice as stealthy as the B-2 and isn't even in your airspace. Once you explain this I will RP my response. This might change your response, or at least the part about detecting the plane.

OOC: Advanced radar systems, orbital satellites and patrols, regular air patrols over The Captain, anti-air systems on the surrounding archipelagos that emit huge amounts of microwaves into the sky.
Basically all of the reasons that a nation 1 year older than yours must have technology that can detect a lot of stealthy things.
OOC: Orbital satellites? Whatever. Although being older just means that you have a lot more stuff, not nessesarily better.
"Sir, radar bounce has been just skimming detection levels for the last couple hours. I think they have us, it is just the sheer number of system out thier looking for us"
"Back off a couple hundred miles and make sure that the detection levels fall off the scales."
"Yessir, turning now."
Scellian Embassy...
A conference of the three Gods takes place, Max has been sent to talk with the nervous ambassador. "We have word from the air, appearently our stealth isn't going to do much good here. It also looks like The Captain government won't even trade a little bit of customs for a gigaton nuke. I figured they would want it to make them even with the few nations that have them."
"Sir, we have a few options left. Our air is gone, the dinner is gone and it doesn't look like we will be able to extract Mr. Ventura. We can either hope that he will leave his family behind, and we can make them think that he was dead. That should keep them from Captain proscution, the other is to abduct him and proceed with the plan."
"Not good options, not good at all. If we can't convince him to come without his family as long as they will be safe then we are out of options. Kidnapping him would solve nothing, it looks like we are out of chips gentlemen. Nothing to do now but ask and then extract. Prepare everything to go and make arrangment for the bomb, we may still get to use it."
Max is sent back with a generic apology and diplomatic terminology interspersed with semi-sensical blather. He is asked before he leaved if he is willing to leave his family here as long as they will be safe, but the answer is already known. Scellia prepares to move out of The Captain, the emabssy is indeed busy that night, but only to an interior viewer.

OOC: No matter how stealthy a plane is to radar, it is still visible to the naked eye. And we have about 5 billion eyes.
IC: "The Scellians have apoligized. That's good. But the other Senators and I have grown tired of them." And you, Kelley didn't say. He'd just received copies of notes and other documents he and his wife had written back and forth in the past few days. They all pointed towards defection.
"But this isn't your fault Max. You were just the messenger. That's why I have one last message for you to deliver to them."
Max's hopes of defection rested on this last message sent to the Scellian embassy. He took it from Kelley and stood to leave.
"Max, where are you going so quickly? We've yet to reward you for your hard work. Outside is a brand new car for you to take to the embassy. Here are the keys."
The tension bled off Max's entire body. He was beginning to feel more at ease, and if he could only deliver this last message, things would be clear and he could get back to living his normal life, forgetting that this whole thing happened. He gladly took the keys, thinking that Kelley was rewarding him for a job well done. If only Kelley knew, he'd have me shot right here in front of him... "Thanks, Senator. You've been great."
"No, Max. You have been the great one. Thank you for serving your country so diligently. You will be rewarded for this."
***********
Max drove his car to the embassy as usual. He was let in the gates like the countless other times he'd been to this place.
The CSTS men across the street were watching Max as well. He pulled his car up to the front of the building and turned it off. He stepped out with the official sealed envelope in his hands and began towards the door. The guards nodded at Max and he went to open the door...
...The CSTS men across the street pulled out the detonator and pressed the button. There was a bomb built into the trunk of the car. Max hadn't inspected his new car yet as he'd only had it for 30 minutes. The bomb exploded, shattering the car to pieces and turning the metal shards into fast-moving projectiles.
Central Air Command
"Move a squadron of fighters to intercept and shoot down the Scellian bird. We should have its position in our logs, and the fighters can eyeball teh plane from there."
Five F-22s launched from the air base on one of the surrounding islands. It was the closest base to the location of the Scellian plane. They would be guided in by the E-767 border patrol, already en route to the Scellians.
Aboard EB-1C....
The WSO looks over the massive CMD and looks closely at a spot, then punchs the intercom button.
"Sir, it looks like a couple stealth aircraft incoming on LADAR, plus a radar plane, they haven't found us yet. They are heading to where we were before, any orders." The pilot and copilot exchange glances, then the pilot shakes his head. "We havemt' got any orders to fire on enemy aircraft despite how tempting it is. Plus we arn't sure if they are even aircraft, but if they were we should have a speed advantage on them."
"Oh come on, they must be looking for us, and a Anaconda would take a few down before we bug out."
"The answer is no, we are getting out of here, an OV-23 has been dispatched to pick up the embassy folks." The pilot turns the sleek aircraft and burns for Scellia.
In the Embassy...
His armor had gotten scuffed by shrapnel but otherwise the God was alright, unfortunately the same couldn't be said for Mr. Ventura. A Tiltjet had been dispatched to pick them up and would arrive in the next 10 minutes, everyone was ready to go, the four that were left.

"This is Eagleeyes to Tiger Lead. No more sightings of the Scellians. Wherever they were, they're not here now."
"Roger that. Tiger RTB."
Major Berlitz was watching outside of the Scellian embassy. The front was reduced to rubble, and the search teams would arrive soon to dig out Max's body. Soldiers were already forming up at the gates waiting for the Scellians to flee. Two snipers were placed on the adjoining rooftops to take out anybody who would wish to look for Max themselves.
The Central Air Command reported a Scellian transport plane en route to the embassy. The Senators met and decided to let the Scellian ambassadors leave without harm. A fighter group of 2 F-22s met up with the OV-23 to escort them to the embassy. They would follow until the Scellians were out of The Captain's official airspace.
*************
Mrs. Ventura and her son were soon picked up by a police task force. They had just gotten back from the grocery store when a team of black-clad, automatic weapon brandishing policemen stormed into the house and grabbed them. The two were taken downstairs, put in separate vehicles and taken away. Mrs. Ventura would be questioned and publicly executed for her role in this, and a trial for the child will begin as soon as his questioning is finished.

OOC:
This is the type of RPing I like to see. The deep, complex story has always been a lot more interesting than the unrealistically simple situations that I see all too often in this forum.
Its disappointed but this situation has been handled poorly. I do enjoy to see someone suffer consequences for it, though. Good Work.
Too bad, we could have used some info on The Captain. Was the parting thought of the God, and the OV-23 finally re-entered Scellian airspace.
Aaaannnd thats a wrap, I had fun with this Captain, thanks for the RPing even if I didn't succeed.

OOC: This was fun, and I enjoyed doing it. But it wasn't going where I wanted, and rather than have the story change around, I decided to kill Ventura.
IC: The "trial" was quick, which was nothing short of anybody's suspicions. The evidence collected by the agents neighboring Ventura's apartment was introduced, and Mrs. Ventura's confession was admitted. The judge took a look at the documents and tapes and found Susan Ventura guilty of treason, a capital offense. Although she knew what was coming, she wept when she heard the verdict.
In exchange for Mrs. Ventura's full confession, her son, Paul, would not be sentenced to death. He was held for questioning but soon released to a state facility. There, he would have most of the memories of his treasonous father removed, and he would then be shipped off to a nice conservative family on the adoption waiting list.
***************
There was a slight rain the next morning. Mrs. Ventura was awakened at 8am and brought to a priest. She was given a few minutes to pray and receive her Last Rites. When that was finished, Mrs. Ventura was taken outside to the transport. The armored SUV drove down the rode with its escort to the city square.
Quite a few Senators were in attendance including Senator Kelley. There was a large public attendance as well, as they hated traitors just as much as any patriot would. Susan Ventura stepped out of a car for the last time. She dared not look at any of the faces in the crowded square in fear that she might recognize somebody she was close to.
Ventura was taken to the wall where her shackles were locked into a fixture. She stood there handcuffed, now a wall fixture. Most of the crowd was silent. Most people were not heckled at their own execution, perhaps with the exception of those who took their liberties with children.
A man entered the scene from the right. He was dressed in the military uniform of the Committee for the Security of The State. He pulled out a scroll and read it. "Mrs. Susan Ventura, you have been tried and convicted of conspiracy to commit treason. Your husband has paid for his crime and so shall you. By order of The Senate of The Dominion of The Captain, you are to be put to death by firing squad. Your sentence is about to be conferred upon you. Have you anything to say?"
There was complete silence in the square, usually an area bustling with activity. They never left any last words.
"Very well." He began giving orders to the seven uniformed military CSS officers standing to the side. They lined up about two feet apart from one another and stood at attention.
"Ready!" The seven men unsafed their weapons and stood at the ready.
"Aim!" They aimed their weapons at Ventura.
"Fire!" The CSS officers depressed the triggers on their weapons. The men were told that some of the weapons were loaded with blanks while the others held the real bullets in order to ease their consciences. In actuality, every gun was loaded with a live round, so that the executed would be shot enough to make sure of death. Nobody questioned this practice and probably never would.
Susan Ventura, wife of and co-conspirator to a traitor, went limp in her place on the wall. The crowd was silent still, until the executioner ordered to dismiss the CSS officers. Upon those orders the crowd began to dismiss also, with some stragglers staying behind to witness the entire event. Three other men went to Ventura's body and unhooked her from the wall. They put her lifeless body in a van which would make its way for the incinerator. No traitors were allowed burial in The Captain.
Senator Kelley shook his head, trying to figure out what went wrong in Max's mind to make him want to leave The Captain. He'd never know, but he'd do his best to see that this never happened again.
