Ia Drang Underground City, Nuevo Kowloon
The industrial heart of the Dominion of Nuevo Kowloon is in mourning after a shocking and at this time unclaimed attack striking at shift-change this evening. At 1930 Hours, during the rush-hour, the Northside Commuter Elevator, running from the surface downward carrying five hundered people, suddenly turned into a downward moving tomb filled with corpses and toxic nerve agent. More died at each of the ten stops the automated commuter elevator opened its doors at before the Public Services could shut the system down.
Police and Militia Officials are baffled by this unexpected assault, which they are calling a "Despicable and cowardly act".
Ia Drang is Nuevo Kowloon's most important manufacturing area, a city built initially on the tunnels used to battle French Colonial Authorities in the 1920's, this valley's residents have constructed a unique urban landscape-terraced gardens and broad farming fields on the surface, overtop a teeming vertically-integrated metropolis that reaches nearly a kilometer into the bottom and sides of the Ia Drang Valley. Ia Drang is, for all intents and purposes, a "Bomb Shelter City".
National Security Advisor and Army Chief of Staff Van Nguyen released this statement some two hours after the attack:
"At this time, no group or nation has claimed responsibility for this irrational and evil action. We have recovered the device, and can state that it is, in fact, manufactured by a nation that has and uses chemical weapons. Whether that nation is directly responsible, or it has merely a peripheral responsibility in that they made the stuff and did not secure it properly... The fact is, tonight ten thousand of our citizens are severely hurt, and two thousand are dead..."
he went on to state that "...severe measures may be contemplated."
That was two hours ago. There has been no official word, but sources inside the Forensics Department of Ia Drang's Police have hinted that the weapon may have been an advanced Binary nerve agent similar to GB-9 or VX.
