For years DGNT has used Utopia Chip technology to keep criminals from doing more harm to the public, but in this case the prevention only went so far, a crime had to be commited BEFORE the chip could be implanted.
Now, with the aid of GLACORP and its subsidaries the DGNT government has developed the Utopia Chip Mark 2.

The device is larger than the last version, and implanted on the back of the skull. The main differnce is that this version carries a tiny modem, allowing for access to electronic systems via wireless. This connection can then be expanded through the normal internet with no risk to the user since the brain is 'read only' and as such, impossible to hack into.
This version of the chip has no effect on the brain (except the above mentioned) until a crime is in progress, then police may activate the chip and nuetralize the criminal without risking any lives.
Obviously, this brings up a risk of a person getting into the network and putting everybody in the city to sleep, so for security reasons police, military personel and other essential service operators will have special blocking software which prevents them from being 'switched off' while on the job.
MKIIs are fitted with small plastic covers to prevent rust, infection and other unpleasantness.
The chip is being phased in amoung the population of Dontgoneartheres major cities, and if it is sucessful it will be expanded
Uchip MKIIs are currently for sale.
Cost:
G25 per work hour for medical personel trained to implant chip as either trainers or working staff
G.5 per implant
G1,500 per Monitoring Computer (1MC can monitor 500,000 chips)
G50,000 for plans
G250,000 for rights
