Maniaca sequesters Algeria

22-02-2004, 00:36
Maniaca, desperate for land for their bergeoning population after the Argentine sequestering failed, has decided to turn it's eyes on the large(in area), coastal African country of Algeria. The troops who were surrounding Argentina have been reinforced and are now travelling to the area around Algeria to coax a submission from the Algerian government.

OOC: Once again, if anyone already has claim to Algeria, let me know, and I will happily accept ignorage.

I dont own Algeria but I will let you have it if you give me the city of Oran and the surrounding area.Deal?

Hmmm.....let me look at a map.....

A very hard decision, looking at it's position on the coast. Now, what if I don't let you have Oran? It appears I'm larger than you are, and I have a frightening economy, and also you said you do NOT own Algeria, unless that was a typographical error.......

Of course, I could do it out of the kindness of my heart......spurred by a large monetary "gift."

Or, you could have a giant alliance backing you in which case I would give the city up in pure terror. Of course this is only if I actually obtain the nation(wink, wink).

Speaking of obtaining the nation.......A campaign, I guess you could call it propoganda, has been running through Algeria pro-occupation. It preaches that occupation would have a large benefit toward economy and security, and promises to drastically lower the unemployment rate of around thirty percent down to 10% at the bare minimum by introducing large Maniacan industries like Bandit the Worm and Landstar to the area. Even though the campaign has just started running, it has already begun to stir things up among the general public. A reputable Algerian news source has reported that the government is already considering relinquishing control.

In the Maniacan newspaper called The Poppernickle Herald:The Algerian government has finally cracked, and the country has relinquished control. The country has already begun to be peopled with Maniacans, except for the city of Oran, which is the subject of talks with the country of Matich. It was promised by Maniacan head officials that branches of large Maniacan businesses such as Bandit the Worm will be established in Algeria to create jobs and profit. There is a mixed reaction among the populace of Algeria, some welcome the change for economic reasons, others are skeptical, especially since under Maniaca, there will be no federal elections....

Another article from The Poppernickle Herald: Due to silence by the nation of Matich, The Maniacan government has inferred the deal over the Algerian city of Oran is off, and has begun integrating the city of Oran into the Maniaca-Algeria program. Bandit the Worm(BTW)(OOC: not by the way), a research company, has already begun to hire employees for marketing while it finds a suitable place for a base of operations in Algeria. Melvin&Melvin, a company that produces toys for children, has also been interested in a center on Algeria. Finally, Seafood Hydroxide, a seafood company, has talked with the government of Algiers to create a fishery near the city. Emperor Catsendt has issued a statement saying that militirizing the nation will be one of the final priorities, as "fulfilling our promise to the Algerian people[improving the unumployment situation] must be at the top of our to-do list."
