The new model of Volaerian Operative suits, now made out of 100% spider-silk. Full-heat masking, breathability, and protection against most small arms fire are what some scientists in Technocon Inc. would say are desirable attributes of an espionage suit. Incorporated into it are also some... "stealth" materials that allow the wearer to avoid detection not only from radar but from motion sensors.

The spider-silk can stop a .45 bullet in its tracks and is impervious to pistol fire and capable of stopping most automatic weapon fire. However, this suit is not designed for a battle-field, this suit is designed for operatives that infiltrate enemy (or allied) facilites to obtain valuable information. This suit is designed to prevent such operatives from being detected and to give them the needed protection in-case they are detected.

The light-weight of the suit and its thinness allow other layers of clothes to be worn over it without restricting movement or giving the wearer a bulky look.

Several notes:

- 100% spider-silk has led to an increase in cost and price
- "stealth" materials have led to an increase in cost and price
- Due to the superiority of this model to the previous one the plans are now more expensive.
- The colors: Dark Blue, Royal Blue, and Red are available but it costs 5,000 draekeons (USD) extra, not per suit, to synthesize the color in.

Price: 15,000 draekeons (USD)

Back view

This is the armor used by all Volaerian Marines. It is lightweight (though not as lightweight as the Operative suit), strong and durable, and it is comfortable. It is capable of stopping all projectiles from 22, 38, 9mm, to 44 and 45 caliber. However, it can withstand automatic fire (7.62mm NATO standard and 5.56mm) making it superior to any full-Kevlar suit on the market. Made of spider-silk and coupled with kevlar plates, this suit is very strong and we wish to emphasize that full torso and arm protection is guaranteed.

Worn under an infantry vest, it allows the wearer to retain all the essential gear of older combat suit models while gaining the superior protection.

Price: 10,000 draekeons (USD); comes with standard infantry belt, back-pack, and vest.
Designs: 1,150,000 draekeons (USD)

Originally planned to be implemented into all Sardaukar legions, this battle armor is the pinnacle of Volaerian armor design. The outer shell plates are solid titanium, mined from the Magas Prima mountains the finest mines in all of the Western Cosmopolitan Unity.

Articulation may seem impossible but as stated the armor is broken into plates which are fused onto the inner battle suit during assembly. The inner battle suit is made up of the same spider silk as the Operative suit, however this layer is air-tight and not only retains heat but is also capable of circulating cool or warm air through it to cool or warm the wearer.

The suit can withstand fully automatic fire, shotgun blasts, sniper fire, even small explosions created by detonating claymores.

It also acts as a personal bio-hazard suit, capable of protecting the wearer from radiation and biological and chemical dangers. It even has a 90-minute air-recycling system.

The helmet is made out of 100% titanium, excluding the face mask which is made out of an extremely durable polycarbonate.

The downfall of this design was it's cost. Implementing so much titanium into battle armor is not cheap. Spider silk is also extremely hard to harvest, distill, and make into armor.

While extremely powerful and useful only 20 of these suits ever made it into production. 6 were destroyed in a factory accident and 5 lost en route to an allied nation. And thus, only 9 remain today.

They were in use by the Imperator's Guard (9 hand-picked Sardaukar), but with the recent design of new, cheaper, and more effective battle armor the Imperator has decided to sell the 9 suits to the highest bidder or bidders (depending on whether or not all suits are taken by one bidder).

Starting bid (per unit): 1,000,000 draekeons (USD)
Designs: NOT FOR SALE

Imperial Sardaukar Battle-Armor

http://www.globaleffects.com/Rental/Wardrobe/Armor/Futuristic/Completesuit/spaceabwh.JPG

Comprised of two layers, this suit is the pinnacle of Volaerian design. The Imperial Sardaukar Battle-Armor is the premier battle suit.

The first layer is similar to the Operative suit, 100% spider silk, capable of masking heat signature, stopping many types of bullets, and hiding the wearer from motion sensor and radar arrays.

The outer layer is comprised of plates of an experimental alloy codenamed "Xenotronium". It is titanium forged with a metal found in a meteorite that is believed to have come from Venus. Only 9 suits have been made due to the limited supply of the newly found metal. This new metal is near the hardness of diamond and only the advanced laser cutters of Technocon Inc. can cut through it. It is about as conductive as rubber, impervious to rust, extremely lightweight and is black in color.

An air recycling system on the back can allow the wearer to survive in a vacuumn, toxic/radiated area, or underwater for 180 minutes.

The helmet is also made out of "Xenotronium" and the visor of the same polycarbonate as the Battle-Armor's. However, notable differences are the inclusion of Exonerate's Joint Infantry Information Relay and Surveilance System and a "Xenotronium" barrier that comes down when activated to shield the wearer's eyes.

No other statistics can be provided.

Further tests are being conducted on the newly found metal, but it has been proven to not be a carcinogen and it is not radioactive.

Confirmed. Designs are en route.
22-02-2004, 05:16
We were wondering if the technology to manufacturing your suits was available for sale or trade. We are interested in your technology, and would be willing to pay you richly for it.
Magas Volaer
22-02-2004, 14:22
The designs for the Operative suits are available, but it would take much more for our Imperator to hand over the designs of the composite suits.
22-02-2004, 14:25
We'll take fifty of the operative suit.
22-02-2004, 14:33
Just out of interest, how do you manufacture the spider silk? It is known that spider silk can be extremely strong when gathered into large amounts, but the amounts required are huge. Do you have machines collect the silk and weave it, do you hand-pick the silk (which obviously takes a lifetime), or is 'spider silk' a code name for some unknown durable type of substance?

We might be interested in buying some of the Operative suits, if for nothing more, then to study them and see their workings. We respect your want to not share the designs for the Composite or the suits, so we will only research the Operative suits, if we buy them.

Offer confirmed Septema, 50 Operative Suits for 400,000 draekeons (USD).

The Iron Fragment,

All we can say about our methods is that our molecular biologists (they prefer genetic engineers) are some of the finest. We will let you do the speculating from there.

Penguisiana,

Order confirmed. However I am assuming rights is the ability to produce your own as well and not exclusively.
22-02-2004, 15:28
Thank you for that explanation, I can guess more from that point on.

We would also be interested in buying the designs for the Operative suit for the same price as Penguisiana, $500,000. When we say this, we mean designs and not exclusive manufacturing rights (such a great invention shouldn't be barred for one country only). Granted, our current biological research level is not great enough to mimic your (assumed) methods of making these, but possibly in the future we can implement these on our droids. The droids are not the fastest in the world, and reduced armor weight with still good armor efficiency would be a benefit for our military.

As an act of friendship, we will also support you if threatened by other nations in exchange for the Operative suit designs. Although we are not humans, we wish only good for those who are!

22-02-2004, 15:29
A little competition in this market? We can handle it. In fact, we challenge you to a series of tests to see whose suit is better.
Magas Volaer
22-02-2004, 17:39
The Iron Fragment, the designs for the Operative suits are en route to your nation. We appreciate your kindness towards us, you will not be disregarded as a nation merely buying our goods.

As for Feline, we wish to emphasize that we have more than one type of suit.

However, the chance of beating our Imperial Sardaukar armor in any test is equiprobable to the chance of getting hit by an asteroid from the Alpha Centauri system that is super-charged by lightning, that is also covered in extraterrestrial bacteria that consumes the flesh of any living thing and expunges its waste as gold.

But we accept your challenge.

Wow, these are expensive, but then that is how I like my stuff because these are also VERY good. Does your process involve genetically splicing the gene for silk production into a goat and extracting it from the milk? (I just took this in biology). We would like to order...

1,000,000 Volaerian Composite Suits*$10,000= $10,000,000,000

Money will be wired upon confirmation.
Magas Volaer
22-02-2004, 18:05
The method you listed was our first way of collecting the silk... But the process of removing the silk from the milk proved to be more expensive than the amount of silk we produced. Cost > Profit = Method didn't last for long.

We can ship to you 300,000 suits today, but you will need to wait another 2 (RL) days for the other suits to arrive. For another 150,000 draekeons (USD) we can expedite the production to get the 700,000 suits to you tomorrow.
22-02-2004, 19:44
Ah, the Composite suit designs are up for sale. Our nation has already shopped a good deal of military hardware, so although we have lots of money left, we'll be saving them for a later time. However, if you trust us enough as friends, we might buy these designs also in 1 (RL) day, though it will be a long while until we can begin production of the suit. We can also deliver 50 industrial droids as an act of friendship to help production of your suits (no, we will not bug them with espionage equipment, you can check them upon delivery), though we must warn that we consider droids as equal living beings, despite their very low A.I., and will not tolerate maltreatment of them. It is good for a nation like us to have some trustworthy friends, as you never know when someone pops up who deems that machinery does not have the right to exist. Unless, of course, you have apprehension towards us for our... ethnic backgrounds. I can assure you we only wish the best for humans, and we hope you believe us. We'll get in touch soon.

(OOC: It's also a good idea to have the guy whose suit can deflect your bullets as a friend. )

The Iron Fragment, your worries are needless. We treat all citizens, gay, trans-sexual, home-less, android, etc. alike.

We will reserve some Composite suit schematics for you for tomorrow, and the 50 droids will be welcome.

It matters not who or what the leaders of any friendly nations are to me, as long as they are friends. In fact I remember I was going to try to help a robotic based nation by hardening their electronic systems to be immune to EMP due to their nation recieving threats from human nations. (I think the forum errors turned me away!!)

Sonicwaacman, order confirmed. The suits and designs are en route.
22-02-2004, 23:34
The designs for the Operative suits are available, but it would take much more for our Imperator to hand over the designs of the composite suits.
We'll take the designs for the operative suits for now, but we are still interested in securing the design or at least production rights for your composite suits. Our initial offer is 1 billion dollars, and if you are not interested in money, we have several technologies that you might find to be of interest...

Scellia has decided to increases it's total order and include your delivery terms. Total order is as follows...

1,000,000 Composite Body Armor: $10,000,000,000
S&H for next day delivery: $150,000

NEW OFFER

300 Volaerian Battle-Armor: $300,000,000
Industrial aid offered to increase Magas Volaer to the point where it can make aforesaid suits: $200,000,000

23-02-2004, 06:23
Exonerate,

Before we make any decisions we would like to know what technologies you would be willing to trade.

Scellia,

$200,000,000 will be enough to assist (greatly) in the production of the designated amount.

Order has been confirmed.
23-02-2004, 06:58
Of course... Please check your telegrams.
Magas Volaer
23-02-2004, 12:51
Got it and replied.
23-02-2004, 15:57
Thank you for those assuring words. It seems our apprehensiveness towards humans is showing pointless. History doesn't apparently always repeat itself. But we'll now wire the money for the Composite suit designs, and we're also sending the droids via sea transport. Let us cement our friendship with this transaction.

The idea of extracting the silk from goat's milk is also a very good idea. We'll probably use that method during first-stage development, as soon as we have the knowledge and profit for such experiments. ...and as soon as we find a goat.
Magas Volaer
24-02-2004, 05:41
The goats proved to be invaluable as a precursor to our modern methods of silk harvesting. The problem arises when you must seperate the silk from the milk.

While your composite armour system and the operative suit are interesting, they don't seem to provide much in the way of necessary storage for ammo and other combat essential equipment. We have a combat effective composite armour suit with a synthetic spider silk under suit that provides incredible protection for the wearer. It's capable of stopping anything up to NATO and Soviet standard 7.62mm bullets, which is quite good as far as ballistic armour goes.
Magas Volaer
28-02-2004, 17:13
We would hope that Scandinavian States does not send it's espionage agents into enemy territory with full combat suits complete with grenades, extra ammunition, sleeping-bags, etc...

However we thank you for pointing out the flaw which we did not mention about our Composite Suits.
