The pot calls the kettle black

A newsteam for APD (Attikischpressedienst) arrives in Obnama.

The camera turns on.

'Obnama. During the latter part of the 20th century, Obnama was a major industrial center for the Attican Empire. Booming in 10 years from a population of 20,000 to over 20 million, this is one of the fastest growing cities in Attica. But is overpopulation becoming a problem? Staticians estimate that in less then a year, the population of Attica will be over 1 billion, and in a few more years, more than China. Mind you, that Attica is far smaller then China.'

-She begins walking, and finds an alleyway. The camera turns, and you say over 100 people packed into a small alleyway, in makeshift boxes.-

'This is the problem of overcrowding. Our cities are small, thanks to government restrictions and protection of wild land. Our skyscrapers are reaching their height limits. In this one neighborhood alone, at least 40,000 are homeless, thanks to a lack of housing developments.'

-commericals air. They return at the Obnama City Hall, with Mayor Gregor in front of them-

'Mayor Gregor, what problems do you attribute to the overcrowding problem?'

"Well, the simple fact is, out of many countries in the world, Attica has one of the highest growth rates. Another problem is simply that we are not a big nation. The government has already set aside 75% of the land as national reserve parks and military areas, and that remaining 25% of our land is holding nearly a billion people."

'What has the government done in an attempt to curb this problem?'

"Well, over the last 20 years, welfare spending by the imperial government has been rising drastically. In Obnama alone, over 60 billion Kaiserlichmarks are spent a year attempting to alleviate the homeless problem."

'What do you beleive the best solution is to the problem?'

"Well, I see two solutions. The first is obvious: Eliminate the National Reserve Lands. This would have obvious side effects, and would utterly decimate our environment as well. The second is something the global community would look down upon. We could invade our land-rich neighbor to the east, FPC, or other nations, in order to expand."

'Well, that is all the time we have. Thank you, Mayor Gregor.'
