Declaration of Independence

Ryukyu Independance

By Himekawa Takeda
The Rising Sun Orator

Japanese Political Leader Hirohiigo Togashi, governor of the mainly Christian province of the Ryukyu Islands, has declared independence from his native country of Japan Wednesday, February 18. "The southern islands of Japan have cowered under the fascist rule of overbearing despots who hold no love for Christianity for too long!" says Mr. Togashi after a recent press conference. "We are ready to enact the religion we have so chosen and declare our independence, but we are not afraid to use violence if necessary."

Violence later broke out on one of the smaller Pacific Isles as a liberationist captain attempted to lead his carrier, the RIS Kagamoto, to the side of Togashi's Revolutionaries. The Tokuno Police Department dispatched officers to quell this uprising. Two officers and three revolutionaries were killed in this riot, including over fifty injured.

The Ryukyu people, as a result of this incident, took the side of Mr. Togashi's fight for freedom. Yesterday, Thursday, February 19, Togashi showed himself in front of a crowd of revolutionaries at 8:20 a.m. Several shots were fired at the "Neo Shogun," but all missed, except for a scrape on his right shoulder. All would-be assassins were apprehended by Revolutionary Guards, who were then beaten to death by the crowd who had been worked into a frenzy.

Togashi's "crusade" against Japan has ended with the freedom of the Ryukyu islands, which have been renamed to the Holy Empire of the Togashi Shogunate, for now. Members of many religions, including Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism, complain that this is unfair. "If you do not like the way I control my Empire," says Togashi, "get out. I am not running a religious free nation. My goal is to unite the Christian people in one country. If you want free benefits, leave to the United States, where your false optimism is garnered. But remember that I shan't be content with a small island of former fascists, God's hand shall sweep the world."

Japanese Soldiers Fire on Unarmed Crowd

By Himekawa Takeda
The Rising Sun Orator

At 11:42 this morning, Japenese Imperialist soldiers marched onto the island of Okinawa in an attempt to restore peace and split the crowds of revolutionaries and liberationists at a rally held by Revolutionary Hirohiigo Togashi. The scene turned violent when the crowd stated "We shall not be turned down by your warmongering!". Uneasy soldiers, who were ordered by their commanders to "shoot threats to the Japanese Empire", opened fire.

In a flash of a few moments, two men lay dead with dozens wounded. Hirohiigo Togashi's own men, brandishing make-shift weapons, returned fire. The Revolutionary Leader was quickly hauled away in his private limousine, escaping sprays of machine gun fire by the Imperial troops.

Those who surrendered were brought to a local hospital where one more victim was announced dead at 12:08 pm. Hirohiigo Togashi condemns this act and says that "it shows the true face of the Japanese Empire."

After the previous days' attempts at declaring independence from the nation of Japan, several attempted coups and revolutions have taken place, resulting in more violence sweeping across the nation. There has been no foreign interference thus far, and Togashi has stated that he will "tolerate none".

Yesterday the JIS Kagamoto was finally apprehended by Togashi Revolutionaries, who landed with marines and special forces to take the Air Craft Carrier. Twenty Imperialists were captured, others were killed in the fighting.

The nuclear powered Air Craft Carrier, which has been redubbed the Togashi Shogunate has positioned itself outside of Tokyo and threatened to use its arsenal if independence was not recognized by the Imperial government.

Reports indicate that hundreds of Togashi Revolutionary prisoners were executed in response.

Vilnius, Ultmania - Federal troops from around the country of Ultmania have been deployed to defend the European nation from the erratically self-proclaimed Emperor Togashi as Lord Chancellor Kozloski declared over Ultmanian networks that "the sovereignty of Ultmania would not stand for the terrorist actions of the Togashi Revolutionaries". Stating that they are "trying to ressurect the long dead history of the horrific samurai" and that they should "leave the past in the past".

In turn, the Lithuania Battle Group has been dispatched to the South Pacific in an attempt to discourage the Kagamoto from launching fighters to dispatch ordinance on Tokyo. Kozloski was noted to have said "If one plane leaves that carrier then Togashi will see fire and brimstone."

Admiral Kudalov, commander of the Lithuania Battle Group says he will arrive in days to the Ryukyu islands, with a full armament of the navy's most powerful fighters. The Ultmanian forces expect a terrorist counter strike.

Ryukyu Islands, February 21 -- With recent hostilities coming to a dangerous point near the islands of Tokyo, the Lithuania Task Force that was sent to mediate the looming conflict between the Neo-Samurai forces of the so-called "Togashi Shogunate Revolutionaries" and the JIS Kagamoto has seen their first skirmish as Ultmanian planes flew against Revolutionary pilots. Few shots were fired, and the Revolutionary pilots returned to their home carrier.

Details at this time are classified, but government officials say that this is has raised the military issue to a "full-scale international incident" and that "Togashi is walking dangerously close to full-scale war". A recent declaration by Hirohiigo Togashi indicates that he is "fed up with the delays that Tokyo is providing", promsing that he will begin launching coordinated bombing raids with his seized aircraft carrier.

Lord Chancellor Kozloski has renewed his threats that he will sink the Kagamoto if any further aircraft leave the ship. Togashi has yet to respond to this.

Other outbreaks of fighting have been seen throughout the Ryukyu islands as Japanese officials have attempted to keep the peace amid seemingly endless riots incited by Revolutionary officials. Seven more are reported to have been killed with nineteen wounded, three of which being Japanese soldiers.

When Revolutionary Soldiers marched against the Japanese Imperial forces, the UFS Lithuania launched her fighters on a scramble alert, launching precision air-strikes on designated targets, crippling the Revolutionary advance. Hirohiigo has condemned this event and called the Ultmanian forces "Cowards in the eyes of God".

Admiral Kudalov has threatened to land marines on the Ryukyu islands if the fighting continues.

It seems that Japan lies on the verge of a full-scale Civil War, and the arrival of the Segasaturn battleship, the SSS Secessionist, has caused tensions to reach an all time high.

PRESS RELEASE

Office of the Minister of Trade and Commerce:

Good Evening,

Last night a freighter containing 30 metric tons of Snow Leo Ginger Ale, which is produced by the state owned bottleing plant in New Atka was captured by pirates in Togashi waters. Although we do not belive the shogunate is responsible for the loss of ship, the New Atkan government is quite concerned and is cutting off shipments of the soda to that region. Currently we do not know what has become of the 25 person crew, and we presume that they are dead. We ask that all parties involved in this international dispute please come to a quick settelment, so that order and trade can be restored in the region.

Thank You

Rebellion Turns to Hell

By Himekawa Takeda
Rising Sun Orator

At 8:29 p.m., Togashi declared civil war on the Imperial Government of Japan. Outdated submarines, whose captains are loyal to the self-proclaimed Christian Emperor, launched a daring raid on the Ultmanian forces, managing to heavily damage a destroyer and sink a pair of utility vessels before succumbing to the poundings by Sea Hawks belonging to the Ultmanian Republic. Meanwhile on-shore missile launchers began an unrelenting assault on the Lithuania Battle Group, completely crippling the destroyer Chergov.

With the distraction of the Lithuania battle group, MiG-25 bombers, purchased from underground sources to be used in the liberation of the Ryukyu islands, launched from the RIS Kagamoto, unleashing their ordinance on the city of Tokyo. The casualties at this time are unknown, but are estimated to be around two hundred civilian and soldier with at least a thousand wounded by the less-than-precise bombs. Almost immediately, Ultmanian naval fighters launched from their own carrier, hoping to down the Revolutionary MiGs. Two of the Revolutionary fighters were destroyed with no casualties.

Hirohiigo Togashi congratulated the pilots on their successful raid on Tokyo, which resulted in the destruction of the ancient Imperial palace and the deaths of dozens of politicians who were opposed to the sesession of the Holy Empire of the Togashi Shogunate, or the Neo-Samurai Holy Empire. An outraged UFS Lithuania retaliated with air strikes on Revolutionary positions, killing hundreds of the rebel soldiers.

Fighting then erupted all across the Ryukyu islands as Togashi encouraged his loyal Christian Followers to assault any who stood in the way of their destiny. Several Japanese soldiers were killed, many more captured.

Shortly thereafter, the Lithuania battle group began shelling the shores of the Ryukyu Islands' capitol of Tsagadaki. A Tomahawk Cruise Missile was said to have hit the residence of Emperor Togashi, who managed to escape unharmed by way of his limousine, which received a fighter escort.

Even now, the Lithuania battle group is said to be moving toward the Revolutionary Kagamoto, which has scrambled its fighters to defend. However the surviving destroyer and battleship has opened up with its long range weapons.

Japan, as of 8:40 pm, is in a state of chaos.

A pulsing speck of light coming from the horizon lit the calm but moonless night off the coast of the town of Chigasaki fifty kilometers southwest of Tokyo. Moments later another pulsing light source appeared apparently sommunicating with the first. "So?" said a salty wrinkle faced man in a raspy voice.

"They took the ruse sir. That patrol boat still thinks we're a trawler."

"Very well, maintain radio silence." responded the salty wrinkle faced character who was the captain of the trawler laden with espionage equipment.

Moments later a mascular man entered the small bridge of the fishing boat. "We just recieved our orders from H.Q., sir...err...skipper." He handed the captain a paper that came from the Commonwealth Foreign Intelligence Agency simply known to many as 'the Agency'.

"Hmm. They want us to extract our people from the embassy in Tokyo."

"But isn't that the SEALS' job?" inquired the man who brought the orders to the captain as he took a bite from a piece of beef jerky.

The captain pulled a roll of maps from underneath the only table in the bridge. He picked out a map of Japan and started measuring distances. "Yes, my boy. That's their job if the Senate wanted the Commonwealth to be officially involved in this matter. Our military is still engaged in that Malka situation. Its war out there and so is here. They can't risk getting involved in another foreign civil war so we're the ones going in." It is still pitch black out in the sea. "We need to reach our contact in Chigasaki."

Ryukyu Islands, February 22 -- News reporters are reporting from a military-held compound after the evacuation of Tsagadaki when Ultmanian marines landed to try to suppress the fighting that has broken out between Christian Radicalists and Imperial defenders. Ultmanian marines and Revolutionary Christians battled for seven hours early today after the initial landing, seizing several small pockets of the city after the Revolutionaries were finally captured or killed. There is an estimated twelve Ultmanian dead with forty wounded.

Admiral Kudalov has ordered a blockade of the Ryukyu islands, firing on any ships attempting to enter or exit the waters after his declaration.

The Segasaturn's SSS Secessionist has taken heavy damage from long range guns and air craft belonging to the Lithuania battle group. Revolutionary MiGs scrambled from the Kagamoto in an attempt to defend their allies. Seven more of the MiG craft belonging to the Neo-Samurai Revolutionaries have been destroyed, three of the pilots were killed, two captured.

With the SSS Secessionist attempting to unite with the Kagamoto, Ultmanian forces began opening fire on the nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The UFS Yuri Ashganov, a nuclear-powered attack submarine that travelled with the Lithuania Battle Group fired several torpedo shots, most of which impacted, devastating and crippling the Kagamoto.

Constant air raids have such rendered the launch deck useless and the carrier is all but spent on its MiG air craft. Segasaturn marines also clashed with landed Ultmanian marines, but a mixture of air raids and rapid pushes with the Japanese ground army has forced them back into the city.

With the press released offered by the Segasaturn government, Lord Chancellor Kozloski has declared that "Any further shots fired on Ultmanian vessels will result in a declaration of war on the [terrorist] sympathizing forces." He says that the former Lithuanian nation will "not tolerate hostilities on vessels attempting to protect innocent Japanese citizens".

With the endorsement of two other nations, Kozloski has threatened to launch a second battle group - armed with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Division - to end the fighting on Japan through "any means necessary".

Just before the fighting occured earlier today, another pair of MiG-25 Fighter/Bomber craft attacked the city of Tokyo, killing hundreds more and damaging the Ultmanian embassy there. The Ultmanian Republic has threatened to invade the Ryukyu islands and seize the leadership of the Neo-Samurai Togashi Shogunate.

Togashi Wants Diplomacy

By Himekawa Takeda
Rising Sun Orator

At 11:21 am, on the island of Okinawa, Emperor Togashi has commanded the Kagamoto to surrender the battle. This is an unexpected turn in situation for the self-proclamed Christian emperor at this time. "I see that Ultmania is only looking to defend the innocent peoples of Japan," says Togashi. "I must sympathize, and I am calling a surrender in this hell."

The white flag has been raised by the JIS Kagamoto. Shogunate MiGs have been called off the city of Tokyo and is ordered to land on a Shogunate carrier, if possible.

Togashi's statement lost him control of the island of Osumi, where his loyal followers, enraged by his "cowardice" and "unwillingness to comply with Bushido," attacked Shogunate forces stationed on Osumi. Japanese soldiers also fired upon Shogunate forces. Osumi has once again become Japanese soil.

Togashi says that he was not even following the ways of Bushido at all. "Samurai were not Christian," he reminds those who protest his lack of compliance with Bushido. "I am attempting to form a new Samurai Order, based on more modern, more realistic beliefs." Still, Osumi does not comply with him.

Nevertheless, Hirohiigo Togashi states that he will not relent his fight for freedom, and that they are "determined to be a free, Neo-Samurai Christian Empire". He however has called a retreat from the capitol of the Ryukyu islands for now, to discuss a more peaceful resolution to the attempt secession.

At this time the Japanese has neither stated its compliance or disagreement.

OOC: I hope that the Shogunate's plans are limited only to Ryukyu seeing as Japann's neighbors do not take expansionist Japanese threats lightly (points to the recent war against Bonstock).

IC:

Fighting between rival forces in the southern Japannese Ryukyu Islands has expanded north into Japann itself. The country, already devastated after the war with Bonstock, has been attacked by a group of radical Christian rebels calling themselves the "Togashi Shogunate."

In a speech given before the National Legislature, Acting Prime Minister Han Su Kim urged both South Dalania and its Asian Alliance allies to mediate in the conflict and help defend the legal Japannese government. Currently the Asian Alliance maintains a large number of troops in proximity to Japann, including forces based in _Taiwan, East Islandia, Xiaguo, Hudecia, and South Dalania.

"Although we ourselves are a largely Christian nation, we shall not let a legal government, one that has tried to establish control in a devastated land, fall in this hour," stated Han in his speech.

Officials of the South Dalanian military and the delegates to the Asian Alliance declined to comment.

OOC: If that's the case, then why the deliberate attack on Tokyo? I can understand fighting for Ryukyu in Ryukyu, but taking the war to Tokyo and destroying national territory does seem slightly aggressive.

The only reason I'm voicing concern is because both the Asian Alliance nations and I have garrisons of troops based throughout Japann due to the Bonstock War (correct me AA nations if we've pulled out since then) with South Dalanian troops holding a garrison in Nagoya and part of Tsushima. Just trying to avoid any "friendly fire" accidents.

Otherwise go ahead and lay claim to Ryukyu. We won't interfere with your rebellion and we'll even recognize the Togashi Shogunate as a legitimate government.

Bloodiest Battle of the War Turns to Victory

by Himekawa Takeda
Rising Sun Orator

Okinawa—After a several week period of non-public actions, Emperor Togashi finally let the press release information about the war. On March 4, Japanese forces began carpet bombing the small island of Okinawa, the capital of the Togashi Shogunate. Many innocent lives—along with military casualties—were taken in this raid. Shogunate forces retaliated by launching their MiGs and SAMs. The air raid took place exactly over the island, causing major damage and a large display of fire and death.

After six-and-a-half hours of combat, Japanese forces retreated. Shortly thereafter, the Lithuania arrived at Okinawa to prevent Shogunate forces from pursuing the Japanese. Togashi called off his forces shortly afterward.

After this bloody display of civil war, Japan finally agreed to accept the Holy Empire of the Togashi Shogunate as a legitimate government on March 7. The Treaty of Ryukyu was signed by Togashi himself. Japan—not trusting the Shongunate's movements—chose to send a representative to sign the treaty. Togashi claimed peace and offered to rebuild all that had been destroyed in the war.

The new Emperor at once returned all money and weapons originally owned by the Japanese government. "I caused all this mayhem," Emperor Togashi stated in an interview, "Now I must literally pay for its reconstruction."

Shogunate laborers at once were deployed to Tokyo to begin reconstruction of everything that the Shogunate had bombed. "We caused more damage then they did," says Senator Kyukushu of the Togashi Shogunate, "So we must pitch in to help them first."
