Santa Pollipogo, Azerio
Early this morning at approximately 7:30 am, elements of the Azerian Army launched a seek and destroy mission deep into the center of Santa Pollipogo in search of weapons caches held by "The Eye of God"; a terrorist organization that has been gaining strength as of late. Four buildings were targetted in the raid, all considered "priority one" captures, meaning that top ranking EOG leadership would be present along with the weapons tonnage. The group of 120 Azerian soldiers and seven armored vehicles, a force numbering 146 men total, drove into the city center at approximately 0730 and encountered no EOG resistance along its route to the four buildings in question. Once at the buildings, the group of soldiers damn near overturned the entire area in search of weapons, men, or anything substantial, none such material was found. It was decided at 0845 by Colonel Geroge Stripe to withdraw the troops from the area and classify the mission a failure. However, once the men began to exit the buildings, an anti-armor rocket was fired from atop a nearby roof, destroying the lead APC in the column.
Suddenly, as if part of some sort of wave, armed men appeared in the windows and doorways of nearly all of the surrounding structures, all firing into the conglomorate of Azerian soldiers. A second rocket was then fired, immobilizing another APC towards the end of the column, effectively trapping three other vehicles on the narrow street. Soldiers on the ground were confronted with dozens of heavily armed men, most of which were covered by the conrete fortresses around them. Azerian men began to drop one after the other, and a third APC was destroyed by yet another anti-armor rocket. All Azerian forces were trapped on the tiny narrow street.
The firefight lasted for nearly an hour. Of the 146 men who entered the city center, 127 were killed. The remaining 19 were taken prisoner by the EOG and are presently being held at an unknown location until negotiations can be established with the Azerian Government for their release.
