Ministry of Defence Press release
Government House Press Office
The troubles on Hoko Island continue to be of great concern to the Cayan Government. The Hoko Liberation Front (HLF) have continued to engage in armed combat with police and military personell in area of Hoko City and surrounding suburbs.
Despite the current civil unrest, it is apparent that the majority of Hoko Island citizens still support union with Cayo, and we are determined to defend this against the powers of terror and aggression.
A state of civil war has been declared on Hoko Island between government forces and the forces of HLF members. Estimates suggest that the HLF force is in the region of 50, 000 strong, anf HLF forces currently have control of the Hoko City Dockland area, Northern Hoko City Suburbs, and some small areas of towns and rurual areas outside the city.
In an effort to prevent civilian casualties we will not launch air strikes and will limit the use of explosives to hand grenades and anti-vehicle equipment. We strongly advise against travel to Hoko Island at this time, or to the surrounding islands.
We also appeal to the international community to help with the care of civilians and to help solve the problem of decreasing police numbers on Hoko Island.
