Parade in Grahftonia turns for the worst

20-02-2004, 01:03
*World News*:During a military parade in the Capitol of Grahftonia, a terrorist faction opened fire on marching soldiers and innocent bystanders alike. Death toll is running at 38 so far, not including the seven terrorist killed by CDF secret police officers. A rebellion seems to of resulted from this event, as a gurilla faction has taken control of the northern town of Slovash. Grahftonia has made an official statement condeming the terrorist and rebels but the conflict has only escalated. Military and CDF forces have mobilized but are stretched thin by the large scope of the attacks. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has asked for the support of the International community in this time of insurgents and terrorist.

Breaking news....Northern rebels have taken several diplomats hostage from different countrys, no demands have been announced yet.

--Transmission to the Grahftonian Defense Agency--
From: The SAVX Defense Agency

We can prepare and send the 21st and 32nd Ghost Shadow (http://www.angelfire.com/ns2/toxicvalley/images/ghost.jpg) Companies as an expeditionary force. Should heavier support be needed, we are willing to send a more substantial force, as well as one or two Death Squads (http://www.angelfire.com/ns2/toxicvalley/allyproducts.html) should their force ever be required. We hope that this will suffice for the time being. If you have any more specific intel on the insurgents, we would love to see it.

-REPLY FROM GRAHFTONIAN DEFENSE AGENCY-
Thank you for pledging your support to our cause, we are in your debt. We think that the Rebels could be crushed with a large thrust towards their current HQ set up in Slovash,(Northern Grahftonia, mountainous region) they currently are made up of light armored elements of light tanks and AFVs, as well as several determined yet poorly equiped infantry units. If we can pull some of our armored units back to a staging area, and send in your units with them to quickly eliminate the rebel HQ and secure Slovash.

Stormtroopers of the 11th Death Korp(OOC:think Cadian Kasrkin troops), will utilize a pincer move to cut off their retreat to the mountains as they have done before. Hopefully this can put an end the insurrection, as long as no outside nations come to the rebels aid.

We find such a strategy to be acceptable. Unless you have no problems with it, we will also prepare a bomber squadron to fire-bomb the area.

All refugees have left the area, a bombing is acceptable. But i wonder what should be done about the diplomats of other nations held there. If we can't save them in the next 48 ours they are as good as dead anyway, so that is when we will commince the bombardment.

We will immediately dispatch a team of Wet Shadows (http://www.angelfire.com/ns2/toxicvalley/images/wetshadow.jpg) to attempt a rescue. They should arrive shortly, and will proceed covertly into the area to rescue the hostages. (OOC: will you RP the terrorists for this?)

Within a few hours, the Shadow team's dropship touched down near the hot zone. Major Frank Williams, the squad's commander, set out to quickly meet up with the officials in direct command of the situation. He would need to know everything he could about the location and force of the insurgents to get the hostages out before the deadline.

-A Death Korp captain briefs the Wet Shadows spec-ops team.-
All hostages are reported to be in an embassy in the city square. We have indentified 38 enemies in the building wielding AK-74's and their unit barracks is a half a mile south. A quiet insertion into the building could get the diplomats out without the unit in the barracks knowing of the attack. Due to lack of AAA missile cover, a dropship would be the recommended venue of escape. There are two AAA gun batterys but without radar, at night their chance of hitting the drop ship are very low. We will execute the planned attack to destroy the rebels in 18 hours, you have until then to get them out. You are dismissed and can leave when you are ready.

Frank and his team left with their supplies--consisting of silenced AC-102s (http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/144331/27.jpg), flash-bang grenades, combat knives, and fragmentation grenades--and immediately headed to the covert helicopter that had been allocated to them before they had even arrived. The sleek craft was designed to minimize noise, and reflection of visible light, and maximize stealth. It wasn't designed to carry too much weight for any length of time, but in situations like this, it was the perfect option. The team of six boarded and the pilot shortly thereafter lifted off. They headed into the mountains towards the garrisoned embassy, each soldier silently hoping that they wouldn't be hit by the AAA before they got to the ground.
22-02-2004, 21:15
Mission Time: 20:57 Local Time

Many of the rebels were asleep at this time of night, others were eating as they came off their shifts. None could hear the low amount of sonic noise emited by the chopper, nor could they see it in the darkness of this moonless night. The only force outside the embassy was a T-54 tank half a block away, with it's crew drunk and talking about the revolution. No one was expecting anything to happen tonight....

The helicopter stopped on a street near the embassy and the Shadows jumped out. Frank motioned for the pilot to come back in two hours; they would be done by then, for better or for worse.

The team took cover while the helicopter flew away. When they deemed it safe, they began their quick approach to the embassy, keeping a wary eye out for any enemies. As they came near a neighboring building, they overhead laughter and froze. One of the men, Nathan, peered around the side of the building. There sat an old T-54 with people who appeared drunk enjoying their time, much too loudly. The team snuck around the back of the bulding to the other side. There, they began to snatch one man at a time until all were stuffed into a trash can, their brain-stems broken and necks at strange angles.

The team continued to the embassy, going through the doors, wary of what could be waiting inside.
23-02-2004, 00:25
[i]The rebels were still unaware of any action against them. There were four soldiers all armed with assault rifles. None even took notice, the one behind the counter was reading a porno mag, the other three were watching TV with their backs to the door. None would be the wiser if an enemy squad walked right through the front door.

The men crept quietly through the entrace, pulling out their knives and splitting up to deal with each group. Once they were in position, Frank counted to three and they all lunged, stabbing through the back of the head on each rebel "soldier," ending their lives quickly and quietly to maintain their covertness. Seeing three ways to go, Frank split the team into twos and had them each take a position; Nathan and Jerry went up the stairs to their left, Ben and Johan (pronounced Yo-hahn) went to the hall to their right, and Frank and Zack went forward. They unslung their silenced carbines and proceeded cautiously forward.
23-02-2004, 01:02
Two rebels were laughing as they started coming down the stairs, each on the point of tears. "Those stupid diplomats don't know we are even going to kill them in the hour."

Three more rebels came down the hall off to the right of the lobby seeing Ben and Johan they unslung their rifles, "Identify yourselfs!"

23-02-2004, 01:10
The two soldiers didn't hesitate to fire quick bursts at the two rebels. Nathan and Jerry heard the men coming down the stairs and ducked, ready to pounce. With the lights on, though, this whole business would be difficult; Frank and Zack didn't hesitate to dart down their hallway. They headed for the basement to look for the main breaker so they could shut off the power to the building.
23-02-2004, 02:37
(OOC:I am guessing that the Rebels that were killed were the ones in the hall not on the stairs, if i am wrong just PM me and i will change it)

The two rebels continued down the stairs,"It's too bad those hostages are on the top floor, we half to walk down the stairs all the time!" One said to the other. "Yeah but it makes it easier to guard them, if they escape they have to go down the stairs." The smell of alcohol could be caught on their breathes as they stumbled down the stairs.

A group of officers were in the basement playing poker, out of sight of their commanders. "I wonder why the CDF hasn't caved into our demands?" One of the other officers complained,"Aw, just throw your cards down and stop making small talk."

OOC: Correct.

Nathan and Jerry stared at each other. This seemed too easy. All of the rebels couldn't possibly be this dumb. It didn't matter, though; anything that made the job easier. They came up behind the two drunken rebels, wrapped their arms around their necks, and tugged. Two sickening cracks were heard, and the bodies slumped to the floor. Nathan ran down the stairs to tell the others where the hostages were, while Jerry disposed of the bodies.

Ben and Johan quickly ran to the two rebels they had just shot. They were definitely dead, what with bullets in their heads. They heard running behind them and quickly turned to find Nathan, who told them where the hostages were located.

Meanwhile, Frank and Zack were sneaking down the stairs to the basement when they overheard the officers talking. Frank motioned for Zack to stay put while he crept forward to try and see the origins of the voices. He quietly removed a flash-bang from his belt, ready to throw it should anything happen.
23-02-2004, 02:58
One of the officers stood up,"Did you hear that? Sounded like running up stairs?" The others stood up and grabbed for their side arms, then the six officers started for the door. "It could be one of the diplomats trying to get away!"

23-02-2004, 03:00
Frank heard the commotion and drew back. Shit, he thought. He quickly tossed the flash-bang down the stairs while he and Zack looked away and covered their ears. After the bang subsided, they quickly drew their carbines and ran down to confront the rebels.
23-02-2004, 03:08
The officers were all stunned by the flashbang, and one dropped to his knees, "I'm blind, damnit....what's doing on?" The one furthest from the explosion regained his senses enough to see the two special force soldiers coming down the stairs. He raised his pistol to fire, but already knew it was over.
Super American VX Man
23-02-2004, 03:12
Zack saw the rebel raising his pistol, and he quickly fired a burst into the man's chest. Frank swept the area at the bottom of the stairs with gunfire, nearly emptying a clip before he figured it would suffice.
23-02-2004, 03:26
Twenty six rebels were wondering why no one had reported in from down stairs. " Second squad go down there and check it out." Six rebels grab their rifles and head down the stairs. They moved as silently as possible, hoping to move unheard to safe face if it was just an error from the ground floor.
Super American VX Man
23-02-2004, 03:36
Frank searched around and quickly found the breaker, just as the other four came downstairs.

"We overheard one of the rebels say that the hostages are located upstairs."

"Good. I'll throw the power and we can advance up."

He flicked off the main breaker, sending the entire building into darkness. He then swung his rifle butt onto it, breaking it off so that no one would be able to reset it. The men put on night-vision gear and proceeded upstairs.
23-02-2004, 04:05
The squad leader stopped dead as the lights switched off. "Fall back! The hostages are compromised." The squad turns to go back up the stairs but the man at the top off the stairs trips and falls down, knocking into the column. The whole squad rolls down the stairs and lands in a heap at the bottom. "Damnit.....we are dead."
Super American VX Man
23-02-2004, 04:08
Johan hears the rebels fall, and then one of them comment, "Damnit.....we are dead." How ironic...they couldn't be any further from the truth. He chucked a fragmentation grenade at them and ducked back behind the wall. After the explosion, the team jumped out, ready to shoot any survivors.
23-02-2004, 04:33
One of the rebels got up from under all the bodies that had shielded him from the blast, "I am alive? It's a miracle!" Just then the door at the top of the stairs was kicked open and a flash light shown onto the devestation at the bottom of the stairs. The rebel holding it droped it and shouldered an RPG-7, and fired it at the bottom of the stairs hoping to kill any of the operatives. But, untrained as he was killed him self as the gases hit the wall right behind him and reflected the concussion onto his torso, blowing his ribs through his chest.
Super American VX Man
23-02-2004, 04:46
The team was about to fire at the survivor when the RPG rocketed downwards right onto him. They dove for cover to avoid flying shrapnel just as the rocket detonated. Once they got back up, Frank made sure everyone was ok.

"Everyone ok?"

"Fuck...*cough*...got a piece of shrapnel in my chest. Not too big, but I can't keep going," said Johan.

"Alright, you stay here. We'll get you on the way back, ok? Don't worry."

"Yeah, hurry up. *cough*"

The rest of the team advanced up the stairs, avoiding the carnage littering the area. Jerry was the first to the top. He peered around the door, avoiding the mangled corpse blocking most of the way.
24-02-2004, 02:30
A rebel heard the commotion and came to investigate the explosion. He shown his light towards the doorway, but with all the smoke couldn't tell who was in the doorway. "Are you ok Sladrovick? I heard this explosion and theres alot of smoke down here..." The rebel took a couple more steps forward and tried to see what happened.
Two more rebels came in through a door on the farside of the room,"What happened?" They asked, "I don't know, i think a grenade went off, but Sladrovick hasn't said anything yet."
Super American VX Man
24-02-2004, 02:41
Zack heard the voice and quickly pulled back. He removed a flash-bang from his belt and rolled it through the doorway. Team covered their ears and closed their eyes before it went off. After it did, they rushed in, ready to fire.
25-02-2004, 00:19
All three men were instantly blinded from the transition from dark to mind numbing brightness. They were rooling around on the floor trying to shake off the shock caused by the flashbang. Of course they weren't alone as two more rebels charged in guns blazing, killing their own men on accident.
Super American VX Man
25-02-2004, 00:26
Zack was hit in the shoulder by a stray bullet as they charged in, but he quickly regained his composure to join the others as they fired bursts into all of the rebels.

"You ok?"

"*grunt* Yeah...just let me patch it up..."

He ripped off a strip of clothing from his other arm and tied it with his hand and teeth around the wound.

"Ok...ready to go."
25-02-2004, 00:41
[i]Further upstairs several people were running around with flashlights,"If we don't kill the intrudersin the next five minutes we'll kill the hostages, and tell HQ." An officer saluted, "Yes, sir!"
Soldiers kicked over a desk and put it in the open doorway where the stairs were. Two of them broke out flares and threw them to the bottem of the flight of stair, and they lit up the area, but threw erie shadows onto the walls.
Super American VX Man
25-02-2004, 01:00
Jerry saw the flares drop further down the hall.

"Looks like we've found 'em."

"Right, let's move. Nathan, throw a frag at the top of the stairs when we get there. Then we all go in, guns blazing, got it?"

"Affirmative," everyone replied.
25-02-2004, 01:13
There was a strange animalistic cry as one of the rebels got smashed in the face by a thrown frag grenade, and then it detonated.....Every rebel within twelve feet of the door was a pulp on the ground, and several others were a mess of blood, but still standing. "Kill them now!" Two rebels turned to the hostages and prepared to fire.

The Shadows retrieved Johan and they went with the hostages to the roof, where two helicopters waited to pull them out. It only took a few minutes to get everyone loaded on, and as they flew away, they could see the rebels just starting to react to the rescue operation. They were too late, though, something that every former hostage and Shadow was relieved to see.

Commander Hayes, the man assigned to lead the SAVXian forces in the battle against the rebels, was just arriving on the scene. He quickly met with the Grahftonian officials in charge of their own forces, as well as his own reconnaissance people, and quickly worked out a plan. First: the fire-bombing would commence immediately.
25-02-2004, 05:06
General Brockdorff was reviewing the plan laid out by Commander Hayes, "We have set up six basilisk artillery units to target the two AAA gun batterys to make it impossible for them too shoot your planes down." A distant flash and thundering roar heralded the artillery strike, "I presume that four seconds from now we won't have any AAA to deal with, the ball is yours." Brockdorff said with a grin.
Super American VX Man
25-02-2004, 05:39
Commander Hayes made a smirk and nodded. He went to his communications tent and ordered in the airstrike. If all went according to plan, the entire area would be covered in napalm flames...along with a small surprise of his own.

"Firebird-1, this is Firebird-3. Target in sight; preparing to unload. Over."

"Affirmative, Firebird-1. Firebird squadron, you are free to unload when the target is in range. Over."

"Affirmative, Firebird-1. Over."

The six Hotspot Strykers flew overhead, clear of the demolished AAA resistance. As soon as they were over the primary targets, they began to drop their payloads. Four streaks of Hotspot-5 dumb bombs hit the ground, erupting into smoke and red flame, spewing globs of burning jelly everywhere. Unseen to the untrained eye was the other payload; the Death Squad Scorch, parachuting to the ground in their heavy Combat Armor Mk.III, massive black parachutes almost invisible against the dark sky. If the bombs hadn't killed the rebels, Scorch soon would.
25-02-2004, 19:24
A platoon of Sturmtruppen gravchuted from an overflying Dodai, landing just North of the city. They dug in, and set up mines, and heavy weapons along the road way leading to the mountains that used to be the rebel's HQ.
Brockdorff moved his tank units to surround the the city, making sure nobody made it out alive. It was dumb for the rebels to put all their troops in one city, but they weren't known for their smartness.
Super American VX Man
25-02-2004, 22:28
A squad of Firestorm Howitzers arrived on the scene. With Scorch moving through the burning city, the artillery could get accurate positioning for their barrages when needed. Meanwhile, Scorch was encountering little resistance...relatively little, anyway. They had encountered what would be considered somewhat strong resistance to other combat units, but for them, it was a cakewalk; they were in their optimum environment, using optimum weaponry, and optimum support. In short, they were mauling the rebels with their flamethrowers and fire swords, and calling in Firestorm strikes on armored locations. With Grahftonian forces blocking most of the exits out of the burning city, the whole situation would be over in a matter of hours.
26-02-2004, 02:36
Leman Russ battle tanks set up a perimeter around the city along with the "Sturmtruppen" who covered the road north. The 3rd Infantry Regiment covered the road to the south as well, making sure that the Rebels couldn't break out in any direction in force.
Several T-60 type battletanks tried to escape along with a couple of covered trucks, but were blown apart by a Leman Russ's main gun and Heavy Bolter side sponsons. Recon flights over the city concluded that Commander Hayes was making good progress.
Field Marshall Brockdorff radioed Commander Hayes, "You can call back your units, we will wait for the city to burn down then the CDF will move in and sweep the area for any Rebel infantry that survived, but all enemy armor has been destroyed now. We pray that you suffered few casualties, and if your nation needs anything just give us a call. The rebel threat has diminished to a level where we can handle it without overstretching ourselves. You’re free to go back to your nation now. May the Emperor bless you."
The CDF mobilized a company of troopers and sent them to what was left of Slovash. It didn't really matter anymore that the city was in ruin, the majority of Grahftonian citizens would relocate to planet Stuttgart within the week anyway. Now that the Rebels were gone they could accelerate their plans for space.

Commander Hayes acknowledged that his role was over. It had been a good battle; few casualties and no losses.

"Call Scorch. Tell 'em that the battle's over for us. They can pull out anytime soon."

"Yes, sir."

Hopefully they won't take too long, he thought as he began to pack his bags and get the rest of his forces informed that the party was over.
26-02-2004, 12:57
(OOC:Yeah i play it when i have someone too, which isn't much.)

The Field Marshall decided to wait until the next night to start the operation. The would lure the rebel into a false sense of security.
28-02-2004, 05:49
[i] A spearhead advance of chimeras entered the city by night. They stopped in the square of the ruined town, breaking the nights silence with the sound of their engines. A metalic sound was heard as the reardoors opened letting the CDF troopers spread out into the darkness of the city. All was quiet and the CDF went from cellar to cellar killing anyone they found. All surviving rebels from the operation the day before were dead within the hour. Roff Kaiser, the prime minister of Grahftonia, declared the conflict resolved and a victory for the Grahftonian authorities.
CDF and Death Korp forces pulled back to the capitol to prepare for the voyage to Pegasi II. As the country was packing up for the majority of the nations population was leaving within the week.
