Lysmachian Revolt

2:05 PM Ancedonian Time -- Chaldacia

"Sir, the 8th Phalanx hasn't reported back yet."
"When did they depart?"
"Three days ago, Sir. Heading for the Lysmachian Hills, Sir."
"Right. Phone HQ in Alexderopolis. Notify Tropo of the 51st Kerarchy."
"Yessir."

Alexander Tropo was lounging in the Officers mess when the message came. "Sir, we're to prepare ourselves for combat -- the 8th hasn't reported back yet, Sir." This was not good news. Three weeks ago in the craggy Lysmachian Hills a group of determined group of seperatist rebels had begun a war. The response had been quick -- HQ was good at that. Within a week the 7th, 9th, and 12th Phalanxes had been despatched to crush the rebels... However that had proved hard and three days agot he 8th was despatched -- and lost. "Right," said Alexander. "Mobolise the men."

Shells. Their incessant whine was tearing the sky apart. Alexander and his men were bombarding forward rebel position.

Ancedonian HQ

"Phalangarch Lysmachus, Sir, we've just received news from Chalda--"
"Let me see that Taxiarch.... Hmm... Well, this is bad. Right! Despatch the 8th through 22nd Artillery Syntagmatarchies... We need firepower!"
"Right, Sir."

The Lysmachian Hills

Tropo had ordered his troops up into the hills -- where they couldn't come under enemy fire... The Kerarchy's detachment of Cannoniers were working themselves into a frenzy. Looking down at the bomarded base, he could just make out some figures. Poor devils! They would soon die, that was for sure, Tropo had sent 4 Syntagmatarchies against them; and these were some of his best troops. The minutes rolled by, the defenders still fought on valiantly, but Ancedonia was winning.

Ministry of Defense, Quvai-Nischa, 5:36 PM, QNT:

"Get me Prime Minister Greentree on the phone," stated Minister of Defense Chong, "I wish to speak to him about the escalating situation in Ancedonia."

"Greetings, Minister Chong." Greentree said, "What is it you wish to speak to me about?"

"The situation in our neighbor, Ancedonia, is escalating. The leftist rebels have began their assault on the government positions." Chong replied, "I counsel that we aid these rebels, and I wish your approval."

"Hm.... What if the rebels are to lose? Our neighbors would not be happy. You do realize they are much stronger in military strength then us?” Greentree replied.

“Of course I do, I am the Minister of Defense after all…” Chong replied, “That’s why we should increase military spen…”

“You know very well how I and the rest of the Quvai-Nischa Socialist Party feel about that.” Greentree retorted, “Our defense budget is fine as it is.”

“Ah… I beg to differ, but that is beside the point. The point is, our intelligence agents inform us that a rebel victory is likely,” Chong replied, “And thus it would be wise to form an alliance with these people. In addition, they share our views on many issues, and to greater extent then the current government.”

“Fine…” Greentree replied, “You have free reign to send troops as aid. All I ask is that you contact Minister Freeman about large foreign aid packages during and after the war.”

“Ah… Good, sir. You won’t regret this.” Replied Chong.

15 minutes later…

All communications had been sent. The Rebel leaders had welcomed Quvai-Nischan aid happily and had requested that the troops be deployed in the Lysmachian Hills where rebel positions were under attack.

200 Chinook Transport Helicopters departed from Military Base Qilvan with an elite corp. of 2000 highly trained, heavily armed Qilvan infantrymen. They used the prototype Fralish GN-800 Assualt Rifle – a highly powered machine-gun with a range longer than a typical sniper rifle.

At the same time, 200 highly trained medical professionals and a large group of aid workers were deployed in various parts of Ancedonia to prevent an even higher death rate.

2 hours later…

The 2000 Qilvan infantrymen engaged in battle on the Lysmachian Hills…

Quvai-Nischa had officially entered the battle for Ancedonia.
