Anarchy, Chaos, Insurgents! A new Nation?
Strefethen News Brief:
Chaos broke out this morning in the peaceful land of Strefethen, located within the Internationale.
The nation's open borders to refugees appears to have backfired on their peaceful, gun free island as a group of armed refugees fed up with the open, equal, and, dare we say, anarchic society of Strefethen took over a small island off Strefethen's main island's coast.
The Insurgents slaughtered the unarmed police force for the island and took hostages of its residents, a fishing cooperative.
The Insurgents quickly declared themselves a theocracy based on Baalic law, and have threatened to slaughter the current hostages unless their demands are met.
So far demands have not been forthcoming.
Strefethen has sealed off the island not allowing any movement in or out, notified the rest of the Internationale, and is preparing to take further action.
A darkly complexioned man with long, tangled black hair and a scraggly beard walks to the end of a pier and shouts at surrounding ships into a megaphone:
"We will not submit to your oppressive freedoms!" he pauses, then continues, "For the past two weeks I have been in Strefethen, having fled there when the dictator of my homeland massacred my wife and children and were coming for me. The nation welcomed me with open arms. Their doctors tended to my wounds, and I was set up in a comfortable living area. There there are no rich or poor, there are no needy, there are no oppressed, and there is no religion or capitalism!"
"My fellows and I cannot take this anymore. We demand that Strefethen give us autonomy to rule under the holy law of Baal. We wish to become rich, regardless of what it costs others, and we wish to worship via sacrifice of small children!"
He pauses, looks around at the shocked onlookers, mostly fishing boats:
"And Strefethen has no right to stop us! And in case they think they do, we've taken these fifty men, women, and children hostage and will not hesitate to massacre them publicly if our state is not recognized."
He leers at the passengers on the surrounding boats and stomps off the docks back to the main housing complex of the fishing collective.

The Nation of Yugoslavia condemns the actions of the insurgents. Yugoslavia will mobilize a peacekeeping force of 200 troops. These troops will be placed on standby alert until notified of need by the government of Strefethen.

Bombing is essential. We have Elite Forces present to rescue the hostages, but the hostage takers will feel the force of the IJLF. The Internationale will not support religionists, capitalists, or authoritarians in its midsts. They must succumb to our might.

Mr. Angie,
As there has been no recent communication regarding the Strefethen incident, you can understand why I've begun to worry. The IJLF response, while no doubt thorough, does seem a bit excessive and costly. Are we still at a stalemate or have new developments brought changes in our military deployment?
Our threats to bomb remain, but the rescue of hostages proceeded successfully.
Now that our commie atheist breathren are safe, we can proceed with the obliteration of these religious capitalist morons.
