CPRD puts fighters on the market

The Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol, long an ultra-isolationist state, was quite recently forced into massive expansion and modernisation of its military, especially the air force, as the forces of capitalist imperialism imposed themselves on the nation.

With the invading coalition pushed back and contained, the illegal naval blockade broken, and the Drapoel skies cleared of invaders, the republic now looks to re-organise and streamline its air force assets.

As such, some four hundred (400) Chengdu J-10 (Jianji-10, Jian-10, F-10) single-seat multi-role fighters and fifteen hundred (1,500) FC-1 (Super-7, JF-17) multi-role fighters are to be offered for export.

These aircraft have seen no combat, and minimal flight time, with the most active aircraft being maintained by the PAAF and not included in the stated figures.

The J-10, armed with an internal 23mm cannon and boasting eleven external stores-stations, is capable of Mach 1.2 at sea level and Mach 2.0 at altitude.
The impressive fighter, sometimes said to approximate the better-known F-16 in terms of performance, can mount a range of weapons.
Compatible AAMs include the Chinese PL-8 infrared-guided SRAAM based on the Israeli Python-3, PL-11 and PL-12 medium-range missiles, and, in the case of these 400 units, the Drapoel DRAR-1 SRAAM- a 24km range missile oft called Dra-pol's Sidewinder.
Compatible ground-attack munitions include unguided and laser-guided bombs, unguided rockets, the Chinese YJ-8K anti-ship missile, Drapoel DSJ-1 anti-ship missile (range 48km, speed Mach 0.9, warhead 158kg, altitude 20-28m flight and 5-7m attacking), and Drapoel-Penglai Qian Wei (Advanced Guard) anti-ship missile (range 5-130km, speed Mach 0.9, warhead 145kg)

The FC-1 has seven stores stations for up to 3,800kg of ordinance including unguided and laser guided bombs, PL-9 and DRAR-1 SRAAMs, and the Chinese SD-10 medium range AAM, which utilises components from the AA-12 Adder. The FC-1 is capable of at least Mach 1.6, has an operational radius of 1,352km, and ceiling of 16,500m

The J-10s are being offered at US$45 million a piece, and the FC-1 at US$15 million per unit.

DaKhiem has variously ignored and punished assorted suggestions that the sales may be motivated by a collapsing collectivist economy in the isolated republic.

Taiwan's military is especially interested in procurement of limited quantities of the J-10 and FC-1 after the failure of attempts to imitate the technology.

Orders have been placed for 12 J-10s and 12 FC-1s. We would like to keep this deal as low-profile as possible.

DaKhiem has confirmed the US$720 million deal, through the most secure of available channels, and stated that the PAAF is willing to ferry the aircraft out under their own power, or to hand them over to Taiwanese shipping at either Kosong or Haeju (the Drapoel merchant fleet is still tiny, and the republic has never had a navy).

J-10 and FC-1 fighters have begun more frequent and elaborate formation, high-speed, and acrobatic flights over the relatively open city of Kosong, the only part of Dra-pol frequented by foreign merchants and diplomats.

No doubt this is an effort by DaKhiem to show off its wares and encourage greater interest in the mothballed aircraft offered for sale. Archive footage of recent J-10-based tests of the Qian Wei anti-shipping missile, which resulted in the successful sinking of two large trawler hulks was also re-released for international consumption.

The funds have been transferred via secure wireless. The Navy has dispatched an unmarked transport plane to pick up the order.

With both security and the size and quality of runway a consideration, the PAAF has transported the 24 aircraft to Pyongyang air force base for collection.

Meanwhile the promoting of the remaining 388 J-10 and 1,488 FC-1 continues as DaKhiem does its best to conceal the scale of the economic slump, publishing heavily biased figures liable to cause problems later..

(Very well, allow me to pitch a new angle- if you don't buy them now, you may be bombed by them to-morrow! What? No good? -sigh!- Note to self, don't threaten to kill the consumer base.)

Kilean would like to purchase 60 J-10 aircraft, with delivery being as prompt as possible.

So that's sixty J-10 with anti-shipping missiles flown under their own power...

Well, we had planned to buy them and then light them on fire on the airstrip.

See now that would have been acceptable.

(So..your airstrip or mine?)

After non-public closing of a long worked-for deal the CPRD announces revision of its export offerings in this field.

There are now available 238 J-10 and 988 FC-1/Super-7 multi-role fighters.
