Call for workers

17-02-2004, 07:40
The Dictatorship of rickinstine, has had several power shortages, as of late.
We desided that the only long term solution is to build the biggest powerplant in the country.
The power plant is going to be nukular, since it produces the the most power, and is the 4th cleanest power source (next to hydro, solar, and wind)
The contracts were awarded yesterday, but we found a lack of skilled workers in my nation, due to the size of the project.
The constructions that will be underground will be as follows:
4 very large reactor/boilers
4 controle rooms (1 for each reactor)
1 master control room (for the 4 reactors)
The above ground instulations will be as follows.
4 very large, 4,000 Megawatt generators (very high pressure steem driven turbines)
all the electrical equipment, to transmit electricity
4 huge cooling towers
4 very thick blast shields for reactors (12 feet thick, layered- lead, reinforced concreat)
4 barrics for security forces.
most of the water works for the plant.

specks
the plant will be able to produce 16,000 megawats
the generators will be ran off of steam, the pressure will be 10,000-20,000 psi.

this call out is for union workers only, who can pass my security clearance, in the followinf crafts for a term of 4-8 years, depending on how the plant goes, we have no clue exactly how many of eack we need, but i'll give a break down of % of the force each craft will make up.

pipefitters/boiler makers = 35%
electritions = 25%
cement workers/finishers = 15%
ironworkers = 10%
operators = 5%
laborers/carpenters = 5%
millwrights = 5%

here is a picture of the starting of the project.
that is the biguinning of the reactor 1 chamber

We regret that our small population does not support a large enought labor force to send more workers to your aid. We have a list of 10 pipefitters, 14 electricians, 2 ironworkers, and 1 carpenter who we have pre-screened, and have indicated a willingness to serve abroad.

Additionally, we would be interested in negociating terms for the purchase of power when the plant is completed.

i'll take any skilled workers, as far as power, there might be a problem running power lined underwater to your country.

Just an FYI, but 16 gigawatts, while impressive, is hardly the largest powerplant in NS; however, it also makes one heck of a juicy target for anyone who might decide they don't like you a whole lot.

In RL it is the biggest power plant, i edited the world part out of the post.
I intenutally built the reactors underground incase any one desided to bomb it, less of a chance of rupturing the reactor/boilers
I'll also try to design the reactor chambers to be bunker-buster resistant.

Research is being conducted at our National Science Institute that would provide a method for the transmission of power via microwave. Our initial interest is in constructing a solar power station in orbit, and beaming the collected energy back to Earth. Perhaps a simpler solution would be to construct a smaller station that would be used to collect power beamed up from your facility and redirect it to our collection grid. We are not yet a space-faring nation, so be advised that this is a very preliminary idea.

Interesting... I'd suggest a less centralized layout if I were you. We use multiple small reactors of the Westinghouse A-600 and A-1000 configuration (MUCH less vulnerable to meltdown-if the power goes out, the rods drop apart-shutting the reaction down without a human hand on a control...)
We Do have an excellent Technical Services outfit here that can help you not only build your reactors, but train local personnel to maintain them-and build additional units, as demand increases.
Infrastructure shouldn't have "Choke Points"-especially critical infrastructural items like electrical power.
Single Complexes have disadvantages also in transmission of power from point-to-point, since your transformer stations wind up all joining at one location which can (and likely will) be hit by an enemy Commando raid.
Examine your requirements and detail them, and we can give you an accurate bid on how much the job will cost, and how much time it will take.

the contracts have been awarded, i need workers.
i could use a few people here to trane workers, though.
:idea:

send them on over

construction worker wages will be $45 an hour, plus full health, and per-deam (extra pay, to take care of expenses)

instructors pay will be $75 an hour, full health, and per-deam.

all workers must be unionized

there is 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week over time after 8 hours (time and a 1/2), and double time after 12 hours (2x time)
Time and a 1/2 on saturday, double time on sunday. Triple time on national hollidays.

I can send the following (they're willing to go-it's a chance to get out of the country without having to go fight in a war, and the money's good...)

22 "Master" level members of the NKPPW (Nuevo Kowloon Power Power Plant Workers) that's from all 42 of their districts.
135 Journeymen from the NKPPW,
71 "Journeyman" level Plumbers and Pipefitters (Local 128 out of Khe Sanh)
87 Welders with Nuclear certification (Local 2 out of Ia Drang, and Local 11 out of Vin-Drin Lap)
6 Master HVAC Technicians (Local 88 out of Nha Tran)
121 Journeyman HVAC Techs (Same Local-we just had our annual drop in construction, it's winter here...)
91 Millwrights (Journeymen, various unions, inc. 2 shop-stewards from the Shipfitters 19)
119 Journeyman-level Masons (to handle the concretework)
and...
42 Journeymen from the IBEW Head office here in Nha Tran.
Please make adjustments, as approx. 22% of the people who've volunteered are... somewhat light-sensitized, and have difficulties with daylight.
We have business reps going with-you will meet one of each union. Please meet the IBEW, HVAC, and Weldor's union BA's after dark-they're light-allergic like 20% of our population.
Our workforce runs 24 hours a day, in three shifts, I suggest you inform your local labour pool that they will be dealing with shift-differentials, and working three shifts if you accept our offer.

my union reps will hammer out a deal with your union reps.
IBEW, UA, and ICU (international carpenters union) have argeed to 12 hour shifts in my country, but we may vary the scedual a bit, depending on the outcome of the international reps, and locals.

Labor Spokesman Arnor Shreveport. If you would like some help getting into Space The Dictatorship of Hyrule-Termina can help with our space ships. We are also very interested in Microwave power so maybe we can help you construct your power plant. But for now we have also begun the construction of a nuclear power plant as our energy demands have increased, but in the future when we need more power we would like an alternative to nuclear power to prevent the risk of a meltdown or attack. Please lets us know if you would like some help with your project.

I know my people are going to be pretty sticky on wanting the three shift setup-only Managers get stuck with 12 hour shifts over here-and that's because it's illegal for white-collar and management types to unionize.
Weldors are inbound.

Thank you.
From what i hear, some of the crafts agree to 10 hour days, the pipe fitters want 12 hours, because of the over time pay. I'll see what ic an do.
