Queen seeks consort

17-02-2004, 00:34
Queen of Moonstone Harbor seeks consort to rule by my side. Must be intelligent, compassionate, romantic, and believe firmly in magick. War mongers, gold diggers and harlots need not apply.

Dark curly/wavy hair and RP skills are definitely encouraged. Her majesty shall await reply here.

Though i may seem cold on the field of battle my heart is open and warm once I am home. I havn't gone out much ever, as I had a tendicy to put my career first. But I am changing my old ways, do to the fact the President had threatd to put me behind a desk if i didn't go have fun. That was 6 months ago now and i have yet to thank him for it.

I am Archon Victor Marik of the Mercantile Republic of Galmorra, and I would be honored to participate.

19-02-2004, 02:25
You are welcomed to participate Mr. Marik, please tell about yourself.
General Tyler, you appear to be a good person, but I must tell you that there is a drastic age difference between the Queen and yourself. Her majesty is soon to reach 18.

I, Archon Victor Marik, am 31 years old, 5 foot 11 inches, 180 pounds. Slight frame, prematurely grey sideburns, and hazel eyes.
I was a Galmorran Senator for 7 years, riding from junior senator to the party leader in the Estates Party, our nations middle-class group. A year ago a civil war broke out in my nation, and I led other senate leaders to end the conflict. For my mediation, I was elected the first Archon of Galmorra.

I am slightly conservative in my thinking, though I am open to any philosophy. I am very personable and like to converse with people.

I also seek to know what you are into ^_^

In past generations the men of the tyler house have alwas aged well. Some would have siad it was do to their long periods in space. as every generation for centuries has served in the Military. but None ahve aged better than The last three generations. Andrew's Grandsire happened to be an an Elf of a noble house. General tyler himself has a few of his grands sires features but the extended life blood of the elfs had kept his appearance of no more than 25 years of age.

Greetings and Felicitations to her majesty!

I cannot for a moment hope that such a noble maiden would ever be interested in a humble man like myself, but nevertheless, please believe me when I earnestly state that Prince Antoku of Izu is at your majesty's service!

But what is this? I see that I am far from alone (as is only true and proper) in recognising the virtues of so lovely a queen...I salute the other ardent gentlemen who have such clearly practiced taste.

Yet, even now I hear the sounds of the early morning bird, calling me back to my candle-lit desk and the lonely affairs of state. Please excuse me, for I now must take my leave...

My appologies that I am so long in responding, I have been caught up in other affairs and a recent illness.
Prince Antoku, you have an eloquent way with words, which is quite charming, but you spoke very little of yourself. Could you elaborate please?
As to the question of my own personal interests I am an Agnostic Eclectic Pagan, abhor violence as anything but utter last resort and have a love of all things artistic.
I am somewhat petite at 5' 2", though I have become somewhat more muscular from dancing. I have naturally gold-blonde hair that reaches to my shoulder blades, very pale skin and green eyes that occasionally shift colors dependant on my mood and occasionally with bright sunlight.
I will attempt to respond more fully tommorow, goodnight to you all.

Your majesty must forgive me, but I have always considered it somewhat arrogant to talk about myself when there are more attractive subjects to consider!
Of what should I tell you? I am rarely encouraged to discuss myself; perhaps that is why I find it easier to flatter others...
I digress, you have commanded me, and I shall happily do my best to comply (however unnatural the process may be).

I must admit to being of a less than tall stature, though I assure you I cannot be described as a midget. I would provide my height, but I fear I am somewhat unfamiliar with the form of measurements you use.
I recall your grace expressing a preference for curly dark hair...that fills me witnh some unease, and I must struggle against my worse nature to admit to being somewhat pale in both complexion and hair-tone (an admittedly rare trait among my people). I hope that will not weaken my candidature? If it pleases you, I would gladly do all in my power to assume an appearance you might find more pleasing.

But enough of such physical descriptions! I would hope I am more than a porcelain stature, with nought save my appearance!

I have a fondness for games of both skill and thought; I admit to a fascination for mirrors (not through vanity I might add, more for that they show another perspective on the world). I note with approval your majesty's stance on wanton violence; it frequently saddens me that many of the inhabitants of those nations that border mine practice war so thoughtlessly- such a waste, for a brave and intelligent soul surely has no need of such mindless brutality.

But what of my nation? My principality is as yet small. I hold my court on the island of Oshima, which in the language of my fore-fathers means 'the great island'; my castle is small, although comfortable, with an enchanting view of the sacred mountain Miharayama, behind which the sun rises in the morning. It is my hope- am I wrong to cherish it?- that I might one day share the delight of my view with a certain other...

Forgive me, perhaps I have spoken out of turn. I shall conclude with the fervant wish that this letter finds your majesty restored in health and vigour, and perhaps, thinking favourably of me.

Alas, I seem to have frightened away General Tyler and Mr. Marik... Oh well, I suppose it can't be helped. And I realize it was intended as a joke Molochea, but I specifically stated that harlots need not apply.

Moving on...
Prince Antoku, I have nothing against those of pale complexion, especially since I posses one myself, it is more a matter of following premonitions. I have had many dreams of wedding one with dark curly hair, which is the reason that such an appearance is encouraged. I am curious, however, of your view of magick and such matters. If you would be so kind...

I, Emperor Crossman, ruler of the Holy Empire of Crossman and sovereign of Crossman Prime seek to throw my hat into the ring here.

Your, Majesty, I am quite the believer in magic. I was born a Christian, though over the years my beliefs have melded with many Pagan ideas.

Alas, I do not have dark curly hair, but medium brown hair. I too have green/blue eyes that change color from time to time. I've never been sure why though, mood sometimes, but other times, i don't know. I will soon be 19, I'm a little over 6ft, 170 lbs, also a somewhat pale complextion. I get complements as to my looks occasionally, but I'm not to always believe it. I consider myself modest when it comes to my looks.

I am fond of the military, but I would never go looking for a war. I only act in the defense of myself or my allies. I will do anything to protect those who are close to me. I love history. I believe that to succeed in the future we must undertand first the lessons of the past. I enjoy reading, fencing, and horseback riding. I am quite the animal lover.

My nation is a large empire and the region I rule over contains over 40 other nations. We all are peacelovers, but will act militarily if need be. My capital city is undergoing reconstruction after a horrendous nuclear attack by one of my enemies. I would love to have some to share my capital with once it is repaired and to have something lovely to inspire me in its reconstruction. My current residence is in the lovely port city of Port Crossman. Though it is winter here, the view out to the Sea of Crossman is gorgeous this time of year and I have long searched for someone who could match that beauty.

I hope we could get to know one another better my dear Queen, though it does seem I have competition. I send my regards to my fellow suitors, we have indeed found someone who's presence and beauty humbles us all.

Good night mon cheri,
Emperor Crossman

My warmest regards to the queen of Moonstone, and greetings to the Emperor Crossman (truly sir, in this matter we are as brothers, for we both have recognised a rare and precious treasure)

Your majesty asked of my views on magick and such matters; I must confess I am curious as to what this term implies for your people. The princely line of which I am a humble representative are blessed with certain powers that some may describe as magical; some of our number have the gift of precognition and prescience, and in certain cases the ability to manipulate the physical plane solely by the focusing of will- a talent knwon to us as nensha. As such, although we may not be familiar with other forms of spiritual power, we are predisposed to accept, and even favour them.

But truly! Do I read that you, my lady queen, possess the power of foresight? Once again I am torn; my soul cries out to speak of the vagaries of prophecy; that interpretation of dreams is a nebulous and confused art- but is that, I suspect, only to counter my fear that my suit will be reject on account of my hair!
Would that be so, your majesty need only command me and I would gladly shave my scalp and wear a wig of dark, wholesome curls!

Ah, I must resign myself to the harsh realities of this world. I note (with an air of resigned dismay) the words of the noble Emperor Crossman. Can I, lord of small, young realm, enteratin any hope of winning the hand of the queen of moon and dreams?

Ever your ardent admirer

I am still interested in courting you, your highness. (ooc:I've had internet problems)
23-02-2004, 16:01
*Into the courtyard rides a tall man of great stature with a short beard and shoulder length, black hair. His mighty warhorse, Magren paws the ground as the rest of the warlords honor guard gathers round their master. Reverently the warlord removes his weapon belt and secures it to the Grey horses saddlebefore giving his men a sharp gaze that told them to be on their best behavior as he walked confidently in for his auduence with the Queen.*

*Those who knew the Warlord Traikis would have been astonished at his restraint and almost natural smile as the stewrad of the castle informed him that he must await his turn to speak with the Queen. But await he did, and all the more amazing was the look on the hardened mans thirty-four year old face as he enetered and first laid eyes upon the petite beauty which stood, regally, before him. Traikis went to one knee and bowed his head. And with a tremble, barely noticeable, in his deep and powerful voice.*

"My Queen. I dare speak in your presence to state my request to be considered as your unworthy consort. True, I am a warrior, but one who has fought only for the welfare of his land. I would offer my sword for you, my life as well. But the word I left outside so as not to offend, thus i offer the life that is given me to serve the Queen of the emerald eyes and golden tress. Be I not acceptable, I would rather you order my death then to turn me away now that mine eyes have been graced by such beauty as I have never known in all my adventures."

*Traikis tried to look up but could not as he continued...*

"I have brough gifts to my Queen if she would find them acceptable. I bring you several thousand Samhains worth of the brightest silks my country can offer and the finest spices that can be had from any region. Even if my Queen finds this humble supplicant unworthy, I beg your highness to accept these small gifts as recompense for having to bear through my presence here."

I hope that that might not damage how you view me. As I said before, I defend all those who I hold close. Though perhaps, if I may be so bold, if I had at my side, the gentleness of a woman, I may be able to find more peaceful ways of defense. I apologize if my words were too bold my dear Queen.

'Allow me to explain...'

The initial words of many a jilted lover!

*sigh*

What can I say, you think me a deceitful, evil little man, and I will assume from general principles that I will not be believed were I to say that I earnestly wished to correct my wicked ways.

A prince of Izu does not beg or dissemble. If you desire an explanation, then you may attribute those policies of mine which you found so objectionable to birth and upbringing! I had hoped that an alliance with a truly kind and compassionate lady might enable me to avoid the curse of my heritage; I see now that I am probably mistaken.

In summary, it was not my intention to mislead you (believe it or not as you will) and given the nature of your other suitors I see that my intentions have in all probability failed.

I would, however, ask to be given a second chance!

Antoku

P.S. Might I ask what exactly your majesty found so objectionable?

Please, your Highness, I too ask that you give the Prince a second chance. Even though I hope to be the one to win your heart, I wish that my competition be given just as fair a chance as I.

Your Humble Admirerer, (OOC: sorry if I mispelled that)

TO PRINCE ANTOKU: I would like to extend an offer of friendship between our two nations, regardless of who our dear Queen chooses. You have proven yourself a noble man in my eyes.
24-02-2004, 15:23
*Traikis stands slowly and though his voice is level, the tone is stern*

The Khanate of Traikis does not share this view of Antoku. I have stated from the first that I am a man of action, a warrior. Honesty is the only true way to rule. Why do you seek to curry favor with him if indeed he has played falsely? Violence is the only solution when better ways escape us. So it was in the lands that I rule and so it was in the days of Carthage. It is a sad conclusion, but one that history has proven through time immemorial.

But this is no place to play games, no place to debate the methods of this madness we call politics. The Queen shall make her decision on what she see's in our souls through the deeds we have accomplished and what she feels we may do for her and her people. If she finds his claims to be lies, then that is her decision, not yours to second guess.

My lord Khan,

I am willing to accept that every person travels the road of life according to their code; indeed I know many who share yours.

Indeed you have moved me to state that I never intended to misrepresent myself; if you examine my earlier correspondances you will note that I do not favour violence as a method of state (which I do not).

If I truly wished to inflict harm on others, I could instead follow the precedent of my predecessors (something I am trying hard to distance myself from). Petty violence, in the last analysis, is an ineffective means of rule.

However, I have no wish to quarrel, and even less wish to dilute concern from the subject at hand. You do speak the truth, even as you slander me: the decision rests not with us, and rightly so!

Antoku
24-02-2004, 18:31
Step lightly Duke. I threaten no act of malice but I do not take to insolence lightly. If it is as you say then the Queen shall see it as such. If not then the same is true. Slander you pronounce? I merely stated my opinion on a situation. If we of the leadership cannot speak our opinions without making them slander then I would say that it is a sad thing in this field of equals.

Prince Antoku, my concern here is not your purchase of weapons or any such matter. My concern was in comments that have since vanished from your message board and frankly I saw a great difference in those comments from what you presented here. I mean you no offense, but this discovery does not inspire great confidence, despite your eloquent speech and I must think first of what is best for Moonstone Harbor. I will not have my nation led into needless war.

Khanate of Traikis, I do appreciate your honesty, though I am hesitant to join with a warrrior nation. I can love no man whom I cannot trust.

On a lighter note, my name is Mariel, since it was requested.

I wish you all well and will soon come to a final descision. I may be a few more days, as my ...illustrious... brother is visiting and dislikes to share this connection to the outside world with anyone. Fare well

On a lighter note, my name is Mariel, since it was requested.

I wish you all well and will soon come to a final descision. I may be a few more days, as my ...illustrious... brother is visiting and dislikes to share this connection to the outside world with anyone. Fare well

My dear lady Mariel...

I have always thought of myself as one who can spot when the writing is clearly on the wall, so to speak. Nevertheless, I find myself compelled- through the strength of my feelings- to register one final statement before I am dismissed out of hand.

I must confess I am still rather confused as to what those objectionable messages were. It is true, I am currently involved in a civil war, although I add that my volunteer force (and I stress that they are volunteers) are seeking to uphold the rightful government of a nation against evil, sectarian fundamentalists, whose main policy appears to be the export of their beliefs- forceably if need be- to other nations. Naturally peace is a great and marvellous thing, but there are times when a short war of containment is necessary to prevent greater misery.

I freely chose to take the burden of this war upon my own state, lest one day the foul Junisarians are preaching their beliefs in Moonstone Harbor! And please do not be fooled, my words are not so fanciful as they may seem.

If, on the other hand, you are referring to frivolous comments exchanged with my erstwhile regional neighbours, then I can only plead that they are, for the most part, militaristically-minded socities, who can communicate in no other way. I have since quitted this region in respect to my differences of opinion with the natives.

I cannot in truth think of any other matter that would carry such gravity...

However, leaving that aside (though I am by now most afraid that you will not do so), I would add that were I ever to win your hand (oh! foolish and cruel hope...) I should never embroil your country in a foreign war.

I would have assumed that your nation has constitutional safeguards against a consort of another nation bending the policies of Moonstone Harbor to suit his own purposes. I can think of many royal alliances throughout history which carried specific disclaimers against that type of callous manipulation...

Indeed, and here I am fearing that my words carry little weight these days, my desire for your hand is so strong that I would give up my throne to share yours, so as to remove any chance of a conflict of interest.

Ever yours,

Antoku

Very noble words indeed Antoku.

Thank for telling me, Queen Mariel, most honorable queen of Moonstone Harbor.

May I ask if Moonstone Harbor has any dislike of Galmorra? We still seek to offer you a consort ^_^

OOC: I see nothing much has been said in the past two days. That's good though, I've been sick and couldn't get online.
