Juumanistra

Salistra, Margustan - Two JBT-5 light tanks of the Margustan People’s Guad rolled into downtown Salistra in the early down hours. They were the vanguard of a much larger force that came rolling in approximately an hour later, bringing word from the county seat that Juumanistran rule no longer held, bringing the hamlet into the newly created People’s Republic of Margustan.
The scene in Salistra played out in scores of other towns throughout Margus County. They were prompted by the county legislature’s declaration of independence from Juumanistra after ten years of being recognized as a special administrative region, which had given Margus County almost total autonomy.
Upon the adoption of the declaration, Governor Harlam Bedford was sworn in as the first Premier of Margustan and promptly mobilized the county’s militia and elements of the National Guard, creating a functioning standing army that quickly spread Rahfa’s authority throughout the infant nation of 3 million.
“We were tired of the endless exploitation of our people by the imperialists of Juumanistra; we were the armpit of the nation. We were second-class citizens. We only want our dignity!” Proclaimed President Bedford to reporters.
No official word has come from Juumanistra, but a senior defense official has promised a “swift and terrible” reaction to what he called “the greatest act of treason ever perpetuated against the Juumanistran state.”
[OOC: Feel free to chip in with whichever side you want. The major elements of the Margustan People’s Guard consist of, roughly, the following. Systems that are based on RL systems have the RL system in parentheses.
-70,000 militiamen, organized into 7 divisions of 10,000 men, fully equipped with assault rifles, SAWs, submachine guns, and anti-tank launchers
-Another 20,000 mechanized infantry and armored troops
-775 JBT-5 Javelin scout tanks(T-55)
-205 JBT-7 Lancer medium tanks(T-72)
-385 JBW-14 Stalwart wheeled IFVs
-245 JBW-26 Rhino tracked IFVs(M2 Bradley)
-75 Avenger anti-air systems
-120 Super Cobra attack helicopters
-80 JF-19C Bonefish ground attack aircraft(Su-24)
-45 JF-14E Super Minnow multi-role fighters(MiG-21)
-And a fairly well-developed logistical and command-and-control capability.]
