Designed as flying weapons platforms, Piledrivers are not fast, but they are lethal, the four main guns can, on full power, crack a planets crust, hence its classification. The six top/bottomside guns are for long/mid range capital ship combat. The many small bateries (a battery is five guns) are for short range capital combat as well as short/mid range fighter defence, although it is advised that you bring support ships instead of relying on one ship to defend against many small fast targets.

And DGNT, 5,000 fighters? They'd have to be TINY. People have commented that my ships have too many fighters, and my largest have nowhere near 5,000.

They are tiny, most of them are drones, either remote controlled or AI. That and the fact that most of the launch system is integrated into missile tubes.

Two Wildcat Class Heavy Destroyers(Hey, it's two ships but it's one class)
Length: 100 meters
Weapons: 5,000 Swarm Missiles, 4 tracking lasers(like phaser beams, but lasers), 1 EES-Expanding Energy Sphere(the one on the right has it's activated, note the mishape caused by last missile hit), 3 Ion Cannons, 2 fighters.
FTS Capabilities: None, can be refited though.

The Wildcat makes up most of Crimmond's fleet, designed to be an all purpose ship, from fleet combat to patrols and missions not important enough for a cruiser. It originally took heavy losses, but was soon refited with the EES, an anti-missile and anti-fighter system. It has even come into use as a ram if all else fails and the ship is under imminent threat of capture.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt for the rest of your stats (like the 5,000 fighters) since I know that you are a very large nation with a powerful military and your ships have a lot put into them. The only thing I really take issue with is this statement. According to Klonor, a Harbringer Cannon fires a 5 gigaton (I believe) nuclear warhead at very nearly light speed. Anyone who considers that a "popgun" is clearly either mentally deranged or delusional.

In other words: With all due (and undue) respect Kanuck, in my opinion you are full of sh**. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way (that's not sarcastic, I mean it), but that's my honest opinion.

*Small note* The Harbinger Cannon (A massive device about the size of the Colossus and costing almost $1 trillion) is what accelerates the Warhead to near light speed. By itself, the warhead is extremely slow since it's so massive. Hence, it's delievered by bomber craft so that it may get close enough to be launched (and have the missile impact the target) without it being shot down first.

I have a very small fleet(only 10 cap ships; 3 Battleplates and 7 Superfortresses), which recieves the majority of my nation's budget(most of the rest of my military is underfunded by comparison, despire having ~1000th highest defence spending per capita). This means that a single one of them on the battlefield is, in regaurds to combat potential, the equivilent of a major fleet action for most other space powers. Raw firepower wise, I had it rated in the high exatons, iirc, until I realised no one else was using those kinds of firepower scales and decided to scrap the numbers for aproximations.

But in short, one of the main guns on a Tunguska-Class Battleplate could easily fire at the enemy through a planet; it would be like any other highly-militarised, rich, year+ old space nation parking a very signifigant portion of their navy in the same area, and alpha-striking a full volly at the exact same spot.

I have a very unconventional naval doctrine for a major space power; it stems from my desire to creativly name every ship in my entire fleet that enters RP, which pressures me to keep overall number of hulls fairly low.

Actually, it's a reasonable strategy. For example, imagine three ships against one that is three times as powerful... at first, the two sides will be giving and recieving damage at an equal rate, but after a while it will be two ships against one that is three times as powerful. The lone, super-powerful ship would therefor win.

It's a calculated risk; fewer hulls means reduced force projection, and losses hurt one hell of alot more, but it massivly cuts down on logistics and supply needs, as well as general maintaince and operational costs, and provides improved survivibility in terms of both ship and crew under most circumstances.

I have technology to help mitigatesome of the problems, but either way, in a protracted engagment against a relativly equal foe, say a war of attrition, it presents a huge risk in maintaince and repair downtime and difficulty to replace lost ships.

The Michael Strogoff class fleet battlecarriers form the core of all our three heavy fleets. They are the biggest and most powerful ships in LRR service, and have been around for a long time.

We in Ranodym find the earlier flexing and parading of brute strength intriguing.

Having mastered interdimensional and transwarp speed, combined with the technology recently aquired from Colinda, our space incursions have taken on a newer and more subtle approach.

Essentially, our twin pilot stealth ranger, the Loki II, powered as it is by triple methane fusion converters and armed with a single Event Horizon cannon is sufficient defence for our people to sleep safe in their beds.

In the unhappy chance that a big bad warship hoves into sensor range, we simply despatch a cloaked Loki which then fires an artificial black hole directly in the path of the poor behemoth.

Nuff said.

How is your nation able to afford such a weapon? Your economy isn't that great, and you are pretty small.

I mean, the only one who I know of that uses black holes as weapons would be Jangle Jangle Ridge (who is large enough to afford something like that.)

More importantly where do you get enough energy to create a black hole AND stay cloaked?
I use EH armour for my ships, but when its activated it uses almost all avalible energy, everything but minor engine power, gravity (haha) and life support, so while it makes a ship very hard to destroy it also makes it very difficult to destroy anything, plus its horribly expensive IE: I only have it on about one ship per fleet and two Piledrivers.
Of course, it also makes leaning against a ship rather dangerouse.

OOC: Well, I said I'd contribute something...

IC: At the moment, all of our capital ship designs are on the drawing board. We can share the concept for what will become our primary ship class, however.

The "Dreadnought" Class battleship will be one of our most powerful vessels. All that is known at this stage is that it will carry large amounts of fighters in addition to still being able to combat other capital ships effectively. At least, we hope it will.
