Searching for Assault Rifles

14-02-2004, 21:09
(OOC: If you haven't read my intro, then I might need to explain a bit first: my country's actually composed of a supercomputer (along with it's five advisor-programs) and the millions of droids under it's control. Currently, they're trying to avoid human contact, and are trying to play along as humans themselves to avoid suspicions. I've decided to write a piece depicting the decision to buy weaponry, but I'll mention once the part that all nations are to know comes around, ok? :D )

IC: "What is the status on droid development?" the supercomputer enquired A02E, the advisor-program established to build droids.

"The building of the first marine scanning droids is almost complete. We've also got marine transport droids waiting for activation, once A01E finishes building the oil rigs we will use to harnest fossil fuel from the seas. Assuming our marine scanners detect fossil fuel," the program quickly added.

"That is all very good, but I have received unnerving reports of human vessels traversing nearby our island," the computer informed. "I fear contact might be made soon, and I doubt if the reaction of the humans will be a peaceful one."

"Your proposal, sir?" A02E asked.

"I propose we secretly order weaponry from the humans. Enough to outfit some of our droids, and enough to study their designs for future duplication. These we can use to protect us in case our first human contact is unsuccessful in keeping peace."

"I will inform A04E to begin plans for a droid armed with weaponry. What kind are we speaking of?"

"The so-called 'assault rifles' seem to be a preferred standard firearm of most countries. It would seem less inconspicuous for us to follow suit. I shall prepare an order for them."

(OOC: THIS IS THE PART FOR ALL NATIONS TO KNOW IN IC)

"Dear fellow countries,

We, an upstart nation, have recently begun to prepare our military forces. Our nation's current military is outdated and we require more modern munitions. We have decided to buy assault rifles of a large quantity for our first regiments. Though our economy is low, money is not a large problem.
However, our nation is reclusive and would prefer not coming in direct contact with you. We would like you to send the weaponry to the coordinates specified in the attachment, where we will send a team to pick it up. We can pay extra for the special delivery, if you would not otherwise complete the transaction. We look forward to hearing from you.
