The People's Republic of Vernii and the Imperial Principality of Taka have joined together in a joint military and commercial venture. The project is to convert a Verniian Defender class Orbital Fortress into an FTL capable warship. It's weapons and defensive systems are a joint combination of Verniian and Takan technology. Designing is currently in preliminary stages, and it is estimated at 3 years before the first models are put into production.

Bump, just so more people will read this and there won't be any, "where the hell did that come from?!" later.

What does this have to do with planetoid research?

It's the name of the new class of warship. Since it's not really a typical warship as it is more of a fortress that could move from system to system. Taka and I decided on calling them planetoids because calling them a mobile fortress sounds sort of stupid, and it is sort of a Dahak in miniature.
