NEWS FLASH:

A anti-socialist faction identifing itself as "The Union of the Snake" has overtaken a military base in the southern city of Uxmal. They are moblizing their troops and are prepairing to rampage through the major cities of the ANL. They will call off their attack only if Premier Quetzalcoatl declares the Socialist government defunct and steps down from power. They are also claiming to have international support, although they are not revealing who is supporting them. Although the ANL will try to fight off the rebels, the Premier has sent out a plea to some of it's allies:

..."So it seems our innoncence is lost. For as long as we have been in existance, we have attempted to make peace. Yet, the greed that we have tried to prevent from influenceing us has affected us. I declare a state of insurrention in the ANL, and I authorize the military to ues force if self preservation requires it. I also ask that our closest allies please assist us in someway..."

In this coup, 15 Aztec soilders have been murdered brutally and several others have been captured. The ANL military will begin movements down to this area and will try last ditch diplomatic efforts to prevent a full scale civil war.

The Premier left with these words:
"We are peaceful, but we are also warriors. If we must fight, we fight with honor and the Aztec people will be victorious."

(OOC: This will eventually progress into a three way coup)

A message from the Rebel Leaders:

"For too long, the government has been leting our people live immoral, decadent lives. For too long, the government has been non-chalant about the ethics of it's people. Soon after the rebel's sent their message, they open fire by firing artillery shells at the Union's troops. The shell hit one Union Barracks truck. It was empty and no one was killed. The first major battle is about to begin.

OOC: This is the beginning of a sub-plot focusing on one soldier who will become a legend in the ANL. I warn everyone, if you do not like uber-long stories, then skip on to the next post...

IC:
It was a very hot and humid day, almost (but not quite) unbearable by Aztec standards. As the ANL's troops moved through the thick forest, approaching the rebel's base. Leading the way is a small unit (10 soldiers) of the Jaguar Warrior Infantrymen (JWI). These troops are among the strongest, bravest, smartest and down right best warriors in all of the Union. These highly trained soldiers are armed with the best assault rifles and wearing the toughest armor available to the military. One of the new infantrymen, Xihuitl, only 21, will need all the 7 years of his training to survive this war (JWIs voluntarily begin training at the age of 14.)

A few kilometers from the enemy base...
Xihuitl: "Damned, it's hot, what a great day for battle."

Commander Iztapia: "At least we're fighting in temperatures we used to and not the freezing cold."

Xihuitl: "I guess your right; at least this flak jacket is lightweight."

All of the sudden, the small unit was confronted by enemy forces armed with AK-74's.

Rebel leader: "Surrender now, or face certain death."

Immediately, Commander Iztapia ordered his troops to disperse and begin firing. Shots rang out through the forest as the JWIs, like in their traditional way, fired the first shots. Xihuitl jumped behind a large rock, picked up his gun and said:
"May the gods be with me..."

The 10 JWIs were firing into a rebel unit that outnumbered them (they had 20)

He then picked up his TZ-138 Assault Rifle (an ANL model, I'll put specs on for those you are interested) and began firing into the enemy troops. With the first shots, he had shot three enemies, one of them in the lower torso, one in the throat and one in the leg.

"TAKE COVER!" Xihuitl yelled, but it was too late. A rebel troop aimed and fired. The bullet streaked through the air and struck on the JWI's chest, knocking him down. The injured man put his hand over the bullet wound, in dismay. As he lay there, Xihuitl ran over, pulled him to safety and propped him up on the rock. The injured soldier looked down at his hand that was covering the wound, to see blood was trickling down his hand.

Injured JWI (Struggling for breath): "I'm not going to make it. (Cough) Take my ammunition and my dog tags."

Xihuitl unzipped his flak jacket and pulled out a large hunting knife. He took the dog tag chain and cut it. He then put the dog tags inside a pocket. Xihuitl then removed the injured JWI's ammunition and put it into his own ammunition belt.

Xihuitl: "I'll give this back to Command as soon as I can. I thank you for the extra ammunition."

Injured JWI: "Take care..."

The injured man then slumped his head down and fell to the side. He was dead. Nothing more could be done. Getting back to the war, Xihuitl picked up his assault rifle, and loaded it up with more ammunition. He then took aim and continued on with his mission, and the mission of his fallen comrade.

2nd Commander: "The battle is going to be very hard. JWI Scout Unit A-10 (Xihuitl's unit) is reporting one dead, two injured, they are reporting they are having extreme difficulties getting to the hill over the rebel base."

Warrior-Lt. Gen. Izel: "That leaves...only three men fighting. No wonder they are having problems."

2nd Commander: "Fortinatly, a large unit of the Red Gaurd is following closely behind. They will be there in a couple of minutes."

Warrior-Lt. Gen Izel: "Alright, what else is going on."

2nd Commander: "Here's a print out of what's going on:

Tank divisions 1, 2, and three (13 tanks) have engaged rebel forces. This force includes T-72 tanks. One tank in division one is destroyed, none are destroyed in division 2 or 3. The Red Gaurd Unit 571 (75 Troops) has reached the meetup point over the rebel base with minimal casulties. JWI Unit 211 (50 JWIs) is reporting heavy fighting, but reports on casualties. The a fleet of 2 Aztlan class battleships and 15 Tenochitilan class heavy cruisers are ready to begin bombarding the enemy base with artillery shells and cruise missiles. The 30 AZ-21s are on their way and will be here in a hour."

Warrior-Lt. Gen. Izel: "This is going to be a hard fight."

The augmentation will included at running twice the normal human speed, 2x the strength and gets stronger with more training, synthetic heart to keep blood pressure at a good level and to keep it flowing. Lungpower has been increased for more stamina while running. They now can heal at 3x the normal human rate. They can protect themselves from ballistic missiles (meaning your skin can harden like your wearing a very strong Kevlar vest.); they have augmented eyes to see infrared vision when it is too dark. These will be the ultimate soldiers of combat. But sadly to every great breakthrough there are setbacks. Yesterday 2,000 marines went in for augmentation only1,200 came back out the rest either died or will be incapacitated for the rest of their live. They have been giving an apology from the president and have been awarded 100,000 dollars in apology money. Scientist is currently working on improving these augs, for minor casualties. Now we have perfected it to be safe and painless, the only side affect is growth in “certain” extremities. I am also sending in 250 KC-130 Hercules carrying men, weapons, and Abraham tanks. 30 apache helicopters and 25 AVAB-harriers. I will also send $1,000,000,000 in aid for heath, and repairs on cities. A rebel troop noticed a rusty looking jeep move through the forest. He grabed a pair of binoculars from his belt and looked to see who these people were.

IC: Warrior Lt-Gen. Izel red this report and saw a great advantage. The ANL forces were gathering up to try to overtake the base. If we could get our AZ-21s to work in conjuction with CL's planes, then, the base's defences will be severely weakened and make captureing the base eaiser. He dispatched this encoded message:

In a few seconds, the sky began to roar and out from the sky came 5 large Tu-95 C bombers with a payload load of 4k's of bombs in each bomber. Following them is 25 MiG-29's launched from the Nimitz Class Carrier names St. Martin. The MiG-29's each have 6 Napalm missiles on each plane to take out the defenses around the base.

"This is Tribune Azhultan, the people I discovered happen to be reporters from a distant land. They are wanting a story and want to meet with somebody in power. Their identifications show that they are from Arila."

Back in Snake Command, Commander Mitchle raised his eyebrows.

Mitchle spoke: "Arila is a moralist democracy, exactly what the Union of the Snake strives for. Sure, they might be reporters, trying to get our point of veiw, or maybe they can be here to assist us. Extend to them our courtousy and lead them to our command center. I will meet with these "journalist" once they arrive."

Tribune Azhultan clicked off his radio, went back to the jeep and spoke to the Arilians
"Under my gaurd, you may proced to our command center where you will be able to meet with our leader. We understand Arila and the Union of the Snake have simular idealolgies. If you want me to, I can walk in front of the jeep so I can keep a good lookout for the government's forces, otherwise, I will get in the jeep and ride with you, it's your call."

(Rebel or loyalist, the people of the ANL are extremely friendly once they feel comfortable with new people.)

OOC: You need to post the losses of both our forces and of the rebel forces.

After the guide had translated, Hans started gesturing enthusiasticly "Hop in fellow, hop in. The sooner we're out of this damned heat, the better, ain't that right Jacob." Jacob smiled. Things were going in the right direction.
As the aztec climbed in between some luggage next to the drivers seat, and the jeep started moving, Jacob wondered though if they weren't too late. Following the news on a small world receiver, Jacob had heard of the forces being called in to aid the ANL. "No matter" he thought. "The war against wickedness should go up against superior numbers , if need be. And who knows, maybe these rebels are really more then they appear at first glance. Why else would ANL have called in international aid."
Placated by that thought, Jacob dozed off again in the midday heat...

At the captured base near Uxmal...

Rebel solider #1:
"So I hear we are going to send a force to attack most of the major cities. With the captured communications technology we now have, I think we might be able to go straight to Veracruz."

Rebel solider #2:
"Apparently so, I hope we are victorious, I'm just tired of socialism. I want to own a business without having to be regulated within a nano-meter of my life."

Rebel solider #1:
"Yeah, I just join the Union of the Snake because I am a fundamental moralist. The people have become too immoral and...What's that humming noise?"

Just above them, in almost perfect synchronicity, the ANL's 30 AZ-21's and CL's 5 Tu-95 C's fired at the base. Within seconds, the base was engulfed in flames, between the napalm of CL's planes and the missiles of the jet fighters. Explosions rocked the area for miles. It seemed like all the fury and anger of hell had opened up in the valley where the base was located. In the forest, several rebel troops stood dumbfounded why the ANL's forces retreated. Only a second later would they know, but by then, it was too late. Back at the base:

Rebel solider #1: "We got to get the battle group moving. Get all the tank commanders and soldiers ready to depart now. Activate the comm. scramblers."

Within a couple of minutes, a impressive and ominous task force of 40 T-72's, T-80's and about 500 troops lined up and left the base in a great hurry. This left about 2,000 rebels to defend the base and only a handful of tanks.

In an attempt to defend it's self, the base's automated defense systems fired missiles and flack into the sky, attempting to fire at the planes. Although highly maneuverable, the AZ-21s were flying very low and 5 planes were struck by the anti-aircraft fire. The debris from the destroyed planes hit 2 other planes and destroyed them as well. 7 jet fighter pilots were dead. (Communist Louisiana, do you want to post your loses or do you want me to?)

From a safe distance, the stunned ANL forces watched the scene develop. To add to the destruction, the cruise missiles struck the already severely damaged base and almost completely obliterated it. Warrior Lt-Gen. Izel sent this last surrender message:

[code:1:c58f83a2e1]"This is your last chance to surrender. If you do not, ANL forces will be forced to strike from all sides. Surrender now and you will be treated fairly and within international regulations."[/code:1:c58f83a2e1]

Then, the general spoke to his troops:
"This is a grave day for us all. This is destruction we never wished to see, but remember, we have a job to do, and if worse comes to worse, we must fulfill our duty to the people..."

With that, the now 49 ANL tanks, Red Guard and Jaguar Warrior Infantrymen were remobilized, prepared to fight a battle many of them though would be dishonorable (since the enemy for the most part is crippled.)

At the Snake Command Center:

Commander Mitchle:
"What is going on, I have heard several large blasts, is everything alright?"

Ante-Tribune Keaton (now at Snake Command): "No sir, I'm afraid everthing is terribly wrong, in fact. Communist Louisiana and Communist Mississippi have struck hard, with cruise missiles and napalm bearing planes. Reports coming in, stand by...oh my God...

Commander Mitchle took a long breath, and then he spoke:
"So it seems we have hit a wall. If they surrender now, we will look weak and the plan to rampage throught he ANL probably will be exposed, if we don't, death can be assured. Damn, this is a hard desicion." He sat down, drank a cup of tea and then said:

"If they want to fight, then let them fight, but tell them if they surrender, there will be no retrobution from us."

A sadden budget committee sat discussing on balancing the budget with the new war costs.

Premier Quetzalcoatl:
"So far the budget is balanced, with a few billion Cacaos left over. Education is receiving full funding as are healthcare and social welfare."

Chief Warrior General Holtizen:
"As your military advisor, I suggest we spend more on the military, we need to bolster our defenses."

Premier Quetzalcoatl: "Agreed, but, I want to allocate at least 2 billion Cacaos for repair of the environment and infrastructure."

Minister Xochiquetzal (Environment): I have to agree, the war is severely damaging the precious rain forest."

Chief Warrior General Holtizen:
"Right now, we can't worry ourselves with smaller issues. We need to protect the ANL first, then, after this conflict, maybe then we can worry about the environment."

And aid walked in and said
"Live video patch coming in from the battle scene."

"On screen" said the Premier.

The battle footage showed some of the skirmishes that have been fought, but most impacting were the scene from the bombing. As the group watched it, the military general saw a great military victory for the union. But as Quetzalcoatl watched it, a great emotion of anger and sadness overcame him. He could watch no more. Eventually he left the chambers and went to his office, overlooking downtown Veracruz, looking at the beautiful city lights.

Dr. Darius Wellington, the foreign affair Minster, walked in. The premier was standing next to the window, on his radio, the song "Imagine" was being played. Dr. Darius Wellington came over and spoke:

"I understand this is hard for you, it is hard for us all, but we must go through it."

The Premier turned around and said:
"I know, but I promised that I would try everything to never let this happen, and it's happening, before our very eyes. I hate this conflict; I wish it would just end, right now. The killing, the violence, I just want it to all stop. I hate seeing Aztec fighting Aztec, formers brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, friends fighting against each other."

Dr. Wellington stood there and said, "You're a peaceful person, I know how you hate war, but, right now, we need to deal with the current crisis.”

Quetzalcoatl turned back to his window, as he stood there, a particular part of “Imagine” played:

“Imagine there’s no countries,
it isn’t hard to do,
nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
imagine all the people
living life in peace...”

“Only if we could.” Said Quetzalcoatl. “I remember when I fought in our first revolution. It seemed so right then, we were actually fighting for rights and independence from the Tomez Militia, but now, this is purely a clash of ideologies. I just hope that one day again, we …”

“…will live as one.” As the song finished.

Quetzalcoatl then finished by saying:
"I hope I will remain premier for a long time, so I will be able to see our great nation re-unify."

Meanwhile, back at the battlefield...

2nd Commander: "Sir, we have not recived any word from the rebels."

Warrior Lt.-Gen Izel: "So it seems, prepair the troops, I won't send them in until the rebels say they are not retreating."

Soon enough, the answer came...

A artillery shell was fired from the enemy base, as it rose up into the air, the General knew he would have to fight. Before it even hit the ground, he called the order:

"Alright, everybody, let's start the assault, tell CL's planes to stop their bombings. Organize the troops, make sure the international troops are well secured, we don't want them to get hurt."

Withing seconds, the force was on the move.

With that, the 2,000 remaining rebel troops around the base mobiliezed for a futile fight, trying to give the Union of the Snake a name of honor. The troops spread out and will begin implementing hit and run, cloak and dager tactics as soon as they have sight of the pro-Socialist troops.

Warrior Lt-Gen. Izel recived this notice and called out "Halt our advance and regroup at section 603 by 882." He then turned to his 2nd in Command and said "Tell the Louisianans after this attack to hold off their attacks until we can recapture the base, or what's left of it. Also ask them to consentrate their efforts to the valley where the base is located, this will minimize damage to the enviroment, as the Premier wanted."

If the ANL wishes we are willing to grant them a low intreast loan, say 4%-6% to help in your fight against the rebels.

OOC: Back to the story of Xihuitl (first started on page 1) NOTE TO CL, this is in an area that will not be bombed.

IC:

As the fighting continued, a stalemate developed. The JWI Scout group could not defeat the superior numbers of the rebels, yet the rebels could not over take the JWI because of thier advanced training. Xihuitl continued firing the rifle, trying to get good shots at the rebels, but, the rebels he did shoot were replaced with more and many of them resorted to hiding behind the rocks. Xihuitl came up with a plan. All of the sudden, he stoped firing and fell back, seeming like he was shot. His commander looked at him and said "What the -censored- are you doing?" Xihuitl replied "I have a plan, stand by." After that, he went into the deep foilage of the jungle, unseen by all but one of the rebels.

As he moved stealthly, he unzipped his flak jacket nd reached into it and pulled out a knife. He moved back close to the road, but on the rebels side. Unbeknown to Xihuitl, a rebel troop followed him. Before Xihuitl could reach the road and carry out his plan, the rebel yelled at him "If your going to fight, start it here, fight like a true warrior with nothing more than your knife, not even your armor." Under social beliefs, no Aztec can turn down a challenge. Xihuitl then turned to the challeger, took of his flak jacket and put it on the ground. He then poised himself in an offensive postion and took the first lunge, diving his knife at the attacker. The attacker doged his knife and struck back, and hit Xihuitl's arm. Xihuitl momentarly looked at his wound, seeing a blood drip from his dirtty, sweaty brown arm. In his mind he though "NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ENEMY" and continued the combat. Xihuitl lunged back and slahed the attacker's face. The attacker then tried to tackle Xihuitl, but before he could, Xihuitl movewd and the attacker lunged into air, falling into the dirt. Xihuitl then pounced on the attacker, losing his kinfe. The rebel also lost his knife a few meters away on his fall. As Xihuitl turned the rebel over, the attacker punched him in the face and pushed Xihuitl over. Xihuitl, now on his back as disorented from his move and eventually found the attacker's hands clasped around by his neck. He hit the attacker, the attacker in return clasped his hands tighter, to the point where he could feel Xihuitl's pulse. Xihuitl desperatly reached for his knife, just a few centimeters away. He began to lose contiousness. As things where going black, Xihuitl grabed the knife and swung it at the attacker. He felt the pressure ease and opened his eyes, Xihuitl had slit the man's throat. He felt war, drops of bllod trickle down on to his head. Eventually, with no strengh left, the rebel feel down, to his side, and died. Another gruesom battle was over, yet another one was just about to begin.

As Xihuitl laid in the mud, his chest and abdomen raised rapidly with every breath. Eventually, Xihuitl got up back too his feet, truely exhasted and in pain. He stood there, driping in mud and sweat in the jungle heat and humidity. He then picked up his rifle, his and the slain man's knife and put on his flack jacket. Xihuitl, before continuing on with his own mission, looked back aat the attacker, who laid there dead. Xihuitl said "You may have honor, burt at least I have my honor and will bask in the glory of victory." With that, he headed of for the road behind the rebel line where he would unleash his plans...

Yes, the Rio Grande is my northern most border. I also have a very modernized rail system, so implementing such an system will not be difficult. I have the feeling that this civil war will bring us closer together comrade.

Xihuitl stood at he road, looking at the rebels. He kneled down behind the rock and looked back at the body of the rebel he had just killed. He noticed something rolled out of the enemy's flak jacket...a grenade, this will make things easy. Xihuitl went back to the dead rebel, took the grenade and said "Thanks!" He went back to the road and looked at the rebels firing at the JWIs. It was time for action. He pulled the pin from the grenade and threw it at the 22 remaining rebels. The rebels stoped firing and looked at this grenade. The commader of the rebels said "That's Huitzel's grenade!" With that, it detonated and killed 8 of the rebels and injured 7, leaving 7 rebels. Xihuitl jumped from the foilage and shot at the troops with his rifle. Caught inbetween the corssfire, 2 of the rebels died, leaving the 5 remaining to surrender. As the JWIs moved towards the surrenduring rebels, three of them commited suicide, not wanting to face the dishonor of defeat and possibly being forced to help the ANL. Xihuitl and the 6 JWIs arrested the rebels and shortly there after, the large 332nd Red Gaurd came up behind. Commander Arroyo of the Red Gaurd spoke to the JWIs.

"Great job, comrades. It's is a sign of our people that 10 of our best warriors was able to over come a group of 30 well armed rebels. We shall watch the arrested rebels until we get to section 603 by 882, where we will rejoin the ANL forces and invade the Uxmal base. Until then, you have deserved a rest, take a break in one of our trucks towards the back of the group."

The 7 JWIs walked to the back of the truck and got it. Xihuitl laid down his weapons, took of his flak jacket and laid down. He was exhausted. The other JWIs looked at him and noticed the deep gash on his arm. One of them asked "What did you do while you were getting behind the rebels, it looked like you had a fight with a jaguar cat."

Xihuitl, not even looked at him, sighed and told them about the knife fight. And with that, he went to sleep in the humidity and heat of the midafternoon as the Red Gaurd's Convoy continued on to section 603 by 882.

ANL NEWSFLASH:

Premier Quetzalcoatl, the Socialist Labor Party canidate has won re-election by lanslide victory over the Soviet Republican Canidate, John Kirkland. The Premier's goals now are to strenghen and expand the Federal government and it's powers to make it more socialistic. Also, in accordance to the Communist Charter of teh ANL, the city of Veracruz will no longer be considered the capital of the ANL. Rather, the new and permanet capital will now be Tenochtitlan, located in the cental plains of the valley of Aztlan. This move will be immeidate.

A couple of miles off the coast of Uxmal...

Admiral Martinez stood on the bridge of the SAS Aztlan, the absolute pride of the fleet. The ship was designed with space technonlogy in mind, and it defeniatly was reministant of some of the ships of Star Trek. The SAS Aztlan was an impressive ship, and it was along some of the most impresive ships of the Aztec fleet. And soon, with authorization, the first test of the new ships of the line would take place. Suddenly, a phone rang. It was the authoriztion signal. Soon, the Admiral ordered all ships to begin firing. Suddenly, the fleet fired a massive volley of shells and missiles, all heading to the rebel base. (OOC: The Aztlan class is a heavily modified and improved upon version of the Iowa class Battleship)

Outside Chitzen Itza around 3 AM...

It was a cool night at the Chitzen Izta Air Base. Base Commander Quiroz stood outside, under a florenscent light, trying to read the reports of the battle at Uxmal. "Dear Lord, I'm sure glad the battle isn't here and the rebels had the upperhand." He said quietly. Off in the far distance, tanks and vehicles could be heard off in the distance. This was usual, so the base commander disreagrded the noise. He walked back into the command center and stood behind the radar officer, who was repairing the radar.

"When is that thing going to be up?" Said the base commander.
"In a second, I'm finishing up with the final tests." Said Sub-Commander Yoltizn.

The radar then came online and kicked in. Immediatly to the south eastern portion, a large blip appered on the screen.

"Hmm, I wonder what that is. I'll check to see if the radar is ok." Yoltzin minimized that screen and opened another and began a long diagnostic check on the radar. He finished up and then said "Hmm, it seems fine from here, I'll go on top and check out the radar from there."

"Hurry up then, that blip is only 5 miles away and coming closer." Said the base commander.

Yoltzin pushed a button and a hatch above him opened up. He climbed up a ladder and got to the radar within the spanish style bell tower. He did some more dianostic tests and yelled back, "It seems alright from up here, I owuld send a group to investigate."

Within a minute, they had a group of 15 Red Gaurds in battle fatigues and flak jackets. They armed up with AX-29s (slightly sub-standard to the JWI's AZ-39) and drove out to intersept the blip...

The large blip was no error of the radar, or of the radar technician. No, something more mennacing. The rebel army was coming to the base to take it over, and to invade the metropolis of Chitzen Izta itself.

The 15 Red Gaurdsmen went to intersept the enemy force and found it. By it's sheer size and magnitude, none of them could think the force was a rebel task force. The Red Gaurdsmen stopped the incoming force and went to the lead vehicle. The leader of the Red Gaurdsment task force, Sub-Commander Joshua Gonzalez went up to the door and said "You are about to enter military controled land. Please identify yourselves."

The driver turned to the man and shot him in the stomach. The a division of the rebels jumped out and shot 13 of the ANL's troops dead and captured the two others. Sub-Commander Gonzalez clicked on his radio and said with his dying breath "We were jumped, rebels on---crackle---

The rebels reactivated the radio scrambler. Although the Chitzen Izta base knew what was going to happen, there was no way the rest of the ANL could find out, or could there be?

"We were jumped, rebels on---static---crackle---"

Base Commander Quiroz heard this and activated the base alarm. Soon, his worse fears would be knocking on the door and the battle would come to him. His loud commanding voice came over the base PA system:

"All hands, prepair for battle. The base is at red alert...I repeat, the base is at red alert." He then looked at the second officer "Notify the city and the international armed forces that we need their help."

The 2nd officer activated the radio...static...

Sattelite comm..down...

Internet...down...

"Sir, all systems are down!"

"Great. Well, prepair the troops. Get one of the Red Gaurdsmen to take a jeep into the city and alert them. Also have them alert Tenochtitlan." Said the base commander.
"By then, the battle will have begun."
"I know." the base commander replied, in a deep sad tone.

A couple of minutes later, a jeep with one woman riding in it went off into the city 2 miles away. If this battle were to go bad for the ANL, this could be the end of the government.

At around 7:00 AM in Veracruz, a large formation of what azppear to be bloated C-130s appear on the horizon, escorted by two formations of fighters. A formation of obviously russian aircraft also accompany the force, and long-range observation reveals the shark mouths painted on each of the Su-22 Fitters.

"This is the twenty first mechanized infantry brigade, 44th Frontal Aviation Squadron, 12th frontal aviation squadron, and 9th frontal aviation squadron requesting landing permission, over."

Meanwhile, on the coast of ANL, a force of CB 90 assault boats, as well as small landing craft, all escorted by seven Hauk class patrol boats. One of the CB 90s pulls into a local fishing village.

Not now. Eventually, I hope the sumggling operation will be exposed, but let's say they will be using more subversive techniques. In time, maybe, but let's add some spice to the game...

At Chitzen Izta...

A large missile streaks across the rainy sky. It lands smack into the walls of the ANL base.

Commander Quiroz spoke on the intercom:

"All hands, prepair to fire, activate primary base defensive manuvers and systems!"

Immediatly, 15 Abrams tanks were deployed to intercept the incomming force. A large group of rocket launcher carrying Red Gaurd troops, and JWIs were dipatched with them. As the troops began to dispurse in the foilage of the surrounding plants, the tanks formed up in a cheveron formation and sped up. The base's outer defense peremeter consisted of 6 machine gun turrets, four missile launchers and the deployment of several missile and rocket firing patrol boats in the habor less than a mile away. As the troops neared the base's out defense ring, the enemy came into site.

"TAKE COVER!!!"

Soon, all the troops were in hiding and took aim. The ANL Tanks positioned themselves for manuevering purposes and prepaired to fire. The turrets and missile launchers, could not recive any communications and as soon as the enemy was in sight, opened fire.

A fury of fire and missiles flew at the enemies. Thinking the ANL started the entire conflict, the rebels jumped out of their vehicles and and fired back. The JWIs, by nature, jumped up first and fired. As soon as that round was depleted, they dived down and sneaked throught the tall grasses. The Red Gaurd's "Rocket men" jumped up and fired their rockets at enemy transports and other vehicles. The scene was chaotic. Already, many of the rebels standing out side of the vehicles were dead from the JWIs and the machine gun turrets. Those inside the front vehicles were dead from the rockets. The ANL took some casualties also, 25 JWIs lay in the grasses, dead, while one of the Red Gaurdsmen's rocket launcher miss-fired and blew up, killing 5 around him.

Then the battle the tanks...

The ANL tanks came up and fired at the enemy tanks. Almost immdiatly, seven of the rebel's tanks were destroyed. The other tanks fired back and destroyed 4 of the ANL's tanks. The JWIs and Rocketmen moved up the enemy line and began to fire at the troops and tanks there. Unknown to them, the rebels had modified the caputred tanks to have flame throwers shooting out of there sides. Soon after the attack, the tanks fired the flame throwersm incinerating many of the troops and making a troop assult on the tanks impossible. The JWIs took the brunt of the impact - 55 JWIs either burned to death or shot at by rebels The ANL troops ran back to the tank line again to try to help there.

Because they could not communicate, the ANL troops that stayed with the tanks could not know the other troops were returing. They saw the incomming troops and fired. Soon, by friendly fire, 45 JWIs and 15 Red Gaurdsmen fell to their knees and died. The troops soon realized there error and stopped firing at their comrades. But by then, the ANL had to move back to the inner defense perrimeter, where more ANL troops where waiting for the battle.

The Republic of Kay Son inquires if it can send any medical teams to help out with any civilian or military injuries.

Please do. We need medical teams to Uxmal to help our wounded military personel. Although we do have a great medical system, the war is awfully brutal and we are having a problem getting everyone treated.

In this Civil war, your doctors and nurses will be given humanitarian immunity and will not be attacked by the rebels.

The President of Kay Son has already sent a team of 20 doctors to the city that is the safest. Most of them are surgeons whom are specialized in combat medicene. More will come.

The jeep screeched through the quiet Chitzen Izta night. Trying to get there as soon as possible, the car was dangerously fast and was fish tailing. Eventually, the car hit a fire hydrant and fliped over 6 times. It finally came to a stop when it hit an near by apartment building.

As people began to scramble out of their apartments, they began to look for the driver. After 5 minutes, the young driver draged her self out of the car and spoke.

"All of you, alert the town, rebel forces are coming! Also try to dispatch a message to Tenochitilan, I need to contact the military quickly!"

A 16 year old boy steped up and said "You can use my HAM radio set."

She walked into the boy's room, turned on the radio and contacted the military. The radio was already static-ridden from the rebel's communication jamming equipment. The boy just looked on and changed from his boxers and put on a pair of jeans and t-shirt. Eventually the radio picked up a government frequency and was able to contact them.

"This is ANL Command ---static--- come in---static---..."
"This is Lt. Commander Jamie Gonzalas, we need back up troops fast, rebel forces are about to invade Chitzen Itza. I repeat, rebels are about to invade Chitzen Itza."
"----static----Understood, we are not dispatching LRR and Terran Emprie troops to your location---static---.
"I warn you, the rebels have communication jamming equipment, warn the troops....-*click*-"

The comm jamming equipment started to now affect the city itself.

She turned to the boy and said, "we need to get the people underground now, will you help me?"

The boy simply replied "Sure."

Soon, they ran off and reached the air raid siren controls. They messed with the controls a bit. Suddenly, the entire metropolis of Chitzen Izta reverberated with the sound of the sirens. Soon, the citizens would be safe underground, for the most part.

At the airport, the LRR force assembles off to the side of the runway. The Wiesels form the bulk of the armored contingent, with half of the 20 vehicles armed with 20mm cannons and the other half with various ATGM systems. The 21st mechanized infantry brigade's commander, General Mark Sacco, reviews his assembled troops. The ZIL trucks attract the most attention from the local populace, having been converted into heavy-duty all terrain wheeled APCs, since most of the WISVs are reserved for home defense units. Two of the seven ZILs mount howitzers on their flatbeds, and four others have a heavily armored troop compartment mounted onto them, which can withstand an RPG hit. Others are more conventional vehicles except for the machine gun coverage. One is a fuel carrier for the Gazelle helicopters. The Wolf recon cars also attract attention, as well as the Pinzgauer trucks. The LRR troops look something like this:

The large size of LRR's more numerous Mi-8s and Super Sea Kings makes the LRR force far more reliant on road travel. The largest helicopters brought are four Huey Griffons. The troops wait for an ANL military officer to tell them where they are supposed to go.

Meanwhile, the river strike force prepares to land. Each of the Ystads motor into the coastal inlets, their weapons sweeping from side to side, ready to repulse any rebel attacks. The Hauks begin to patrol the coast, refueling at local ports as they go. Soon, a small group of LRR surface ships appear on the horizon- a Sovremenny class destroyer and a pair of Chief Joseph class frigates, new designs ment to give the Krivaks more seagoing freedom while they take care of minor tasks and coastal patrol.

The Ystads press deeper along the inland waterways, towards what on their maps was marked Chitzen Itza. A group of CB-90s speeds out ahead, to reconoiter the area before the larger force lands.

Premier Quetzalcoatl was looking out his window at the city. It was mid-afternoon and rainy. A beautiful day, no less. As he sipped his cup of tea, an advisor ran into his office and said "Sir, the rebels are trying to attack Chitzen Itza. Also, the rebels have comm. jamming equipment. Our troops are taking heavy friendly-fire casualties."

Alarmed by this, the premier stood up and said "Alright, get our military to dispatch the Terran Empire's troops and the LRR troops. Also, send the bulk of Kay Son's medical teams to the combat zone."

Within minutes, Kay Son's medical teams were rushed to Chitzen Itza. The premier rushed off to LRR's forces. In a couple of hours, he asked all the LRR troops to be gather up. As they waited in the auditorium of the base, Premier Quetzalcoatl steped out and spoke

"Hello, my comrades. Today, I ask yo to help defend the Union. Our base at Chitzen Itza is under heavy attack. We need as many troops there so we can stop the rebels from advancing to Veracruz and advacing to Tenochitilan. Currently, we are only a few presious miles away from this battle field, this is make or break. You will be working in a dangerous battlefield, you will be working against a fearsome enemy, but your efforts, combined with the best of the Aztec National League's warriors, will help us overcome and preserve the Union. Your mission is holding the line and defeating the enemy. Your destination is Chitzen Itza Airbase. May the gods bless you all and may we both fight with honor and Valor."

Amrchairia's intelligence services reports bombing by Communist Lousiana. Armchairia responds by smuggling in anti aircraft shoulder launch missiles. Armchairia also sends 3 nuclear subs to patrol the waters and intercept communications between the Aztecs and Communist Louisiana. Naval forces are given strict orders to avoid contact with the enemy and only engage if threatened.

The LRR force exits the auditorium after Premier Quetzalcoatl finishes his speech. They board their vehicles, and head off towards Chitzen Itza. The ZILs leave deep ruts in the ground as they travel cross-country towards the base. Overall, however, the 21st mechanized makes good time. They are quickly on their way to Chitzen Itza, full force.

On the river, a pair of rigid raiders slink through the long grass. A CB-90 lingers back, in the shelter of a clump of trees in the river. Each rigid raider transports 5 LRR troops. The two boats soon reach their destination, and the troops step out onto land. They arrive at the outskirts of Chitzen Itza several minutes later, and move further into the city.

Meanwhile, as night approaches, the LRR destroyer and frigates continue to speep up and down the coastline. However, closer into the coast, the Hauk class patrol boats look for any smuggling operations.

Aboard the LRRNS Cape Dissapointment.......

The patrol boat runs without any lights, as does the CB-90 which accompanies it. The crew is equipped with thermal imaging and night vision goggles to help them see better in the darkness. One of the crewmembers spots something.

"Looks like a boat over there. Small and black. Doesn't look like a fishing boat."

The captain calls over to the coxswain of the CB-90, and the assault boat motors over to the shore. It pulls up to a sand bar, making almost no noise with the fuel cell power plant, and the 20 troops jump out. They wade ashore, and head in the direction of the boat, under full fire support from the CB-90 and Hauk.

(OOC: Once the rebels get to the base, LRR's troops and Terran Empire's troops can attack and repel the enemy. Also, when Communist Lousisana and I over take the base in Uxmal, two of the key enemy bases will be exposed.)

As the ANL troops fell back from the disasterous opening of the battle, the ANL troops move back to the mid defense rign where heavier base defense systems await inactive. A small band of JWIs get to the peremeter first and activate the 12 machine gun turrets and 8 missile launcers ready. However, instead of leting the comupter automatically control the weapons, the turrets are switched to manual. Soon, the rest of the troops get to the defense ring. They reformed and got ready to face the enemy again. Most of them were still in pure shock to see how eaisly the rebels defeated them with the ANL's own technology. Soon, only the thought of surviving combat would be on the minds of all the troops, for the enemy would be within firing distance in a couple of minutes.

At Uxmal...

Warrior Lt-Gen. Izel seemed to be getting impacient. CL's forces have not attacked and the enemy seemed like they had the fires out. The rain and cooler weather that seemed to be everywhere else in the Union has not even touched Uxmal. It was over 100 degrees and humidity seemed to surpass 100%. Finally, tired of waiting, Izel wired this message to CL.

After that, the general stood atop a tank and spoke...

"Alright, everybody, we are going in. Pick up your arms and ready the tanks. It's time."

The force was assmblyed and ready to go. In the front of the line, the JWI's stood there and waited to begin the attack. To all of them, this was there moment. They had the most dangerous and most glorious duty, being at the very front. Soon, the JWIs, followed by the rest of the force was heading off to battle.

Xihuitl was were the most intense action would be, he was in the very front. He voluntered for the position, and he a watied the battle. As the JWI's scrambled around, remaining stealthy, the JWI's got within a couple of miles of the base. The first group of rebel troops stood around in offensive positions, waitng for ANL or CL troops. Then, without warning, the JWIs jumped from the shadows and opened fire...

Xihuitl was the first one to open fire. Within the first two rounds, he shot three rebels. The other rebels quickly turned around and fired back.. Intinctivly, Xihuitl jumped out of the way and dodged the bullets. Five other JWIs leaped up and shot the rebels. More and more rebels came out of everywhere. Xihuitl layed on his stomach, keeping a low profile. He targeted and shot the rebels with almost perfect persision. Something didn't seem right. He looked to his left and saw a JWI take aim at a group of rebels. Right before he could shoot, three rebels takled him and began to beat the JWI. Xihuitl got up, ran over to his comrade's defense and pulled out his knife. As he came up to the enemies, he jumped in the air and lunged the long steel blade into a rebel's back. Xihuitl then pulled the blade out and socked the man so hard, he went unconsious. Then he pulled of another rebel and drove the kife into the rebel's stomach. That man clutched his wond and fell to the ground. Finally, the last rebel realized he was out numbered and ran away before Xihuitl could do any damage. Xihuitl helped his fellow JWI up. The JWI was baddly beaten and could not go on, he needed medical help. Xihuitl knew the ANL force was close behind and handed him a red card.

Xihuitl: "This will tell the medics you need help. Take care of it, it's my only one."
JWI: "Don't you need it."

But rather than answering, Xihuitl ran off and continued the battle. He took a couple of more shots at some enemies, then retreated behind some rocks. He needed to take a breath. Xihuitl was drenched in sweat from the heat of the battle and the day. He took off his flak jacket and layed his bare back against the cool rock. No later then 5 minutes later, a call came over the radio.

"All JWIs, this is Warrior Lt-Gen. Izel, regroup at sector 9-P for strategizing."

Sighing, Xihuitl got back up, put on his flak jacket and zipped it up. He then set off to help his fellow comrades.

About 200 or so JWI's were at the point where they were told to regroup. Xihuitl looked around, but there was no rebel in sight. He went up to one of the commanders and said "What's going on?"

The commander said "I don't..." He colapsed on to the ground. Several yards behind him, over 250 rebels stood with assult rifles and missile launchers. Some rebels were in vehicles with machine guns.

Xihuitl yelled out "GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" But it was way too late. The rebels in the cars fired first. Within a second, 20 JWIs were killed. As they fell to the ground in pain, the emaining JWI's fired thier assult rifles at the enemies. Xihuitl kneeled down and fired away to. Then, the rest of them fired. As the missile struck the earth, a great cloud of dust and blood sprayed all over the place. Xihuitl fired into the thick wall with valor, but, choking on the dust, he lost consentration. He continued to fire until he felt something impact his abdomin with such terrible force. He rolled onto his back in pain. Soon, he blacked out.

Xihuitl, drenched in sweat, blood, mud and dirt, came about. He got up and looked around. The rebels were gone, but to his dismay and horror, 180 JWIs lay in the dirt, mutilated and puddles of blood every where. The only reson why Xihuitl wasn't dead is the only bullet that hit him was stopped by his flak jacket. Walked on to rejoin with the rest of the group and looked up at the deep blue sky. Oh why did such a horrible massacre have to happen on such a beautiful day?

Premier DuFour of CL today has now signed Article 73 which a summary gives all command of CL forces in ANL over to ANL.

We have purchased some new A-10's we would like to test out on rebel locations.

Today, we have had a report from a arial photo from a U2 of a submarine off the Louisiana coast. We have spoken to our allies and they have assured me that it is not theirs and what The Red Fleet is allowed to do under international laws. Since the subs are in waters of CL, the next siteing will result in the destroying of the submarines.

Meanwhile, with the red Gaurd at Uxmal...

The Red Gaurd marched proudly through the valley. Since the JWIs have taken out most of the rebels, the Red Gaurd had little difficulty getting to the base. However, they soon noticed the sacrafice the JWIs put themselves through. Hundreds, literally hundreds of dead JWis littered the ground. Many more lay injured. It was a horrific sight, however, it was a most be-fitting end to a JWI, to die in combat. Soon, as the Red Gaurd moved to the base, they stopped and took cover. They began to formulate a plan to siege the base.


Soon enough, the plan was underway. The red Gaurd resumed it's course. This time, the JWIs followed, awaiting a more dangeous mission. Xihuitl fell back in line and prepaired for the next phase. Soon, the base was in sight. The JWIs stopped and stood back as the Red Gaurd went to work. The tanks then fired several shells at the base walls. The shells hit thw walls and flames danced across the walls and explosions rocked the area. The rebels stormed out of the base and began to fire at the Red Gaurd. The much larger Red Gaurd troops fired en masse. Several rebels were cut down by the fire of the Red Gaurdsmen. As the Red Gaurdsmen fired, three tanks pulled out of ranks and moved towards the rebels. As soon as they were in range, the tank's main weapon, a flame thrower fired and swept across the Rebel lines. These were brand new, experimental tanks, the ANL's AT-90 Fire Serpant. Almost all of the rebels were gone. The ones remaining fled back into the security of the base. Esimated losses for the Rebels range to about 4,000. The Red Gaurd lost about 250 out of 10,000.

Now, all the tanks roll out of formation and fired at the base. Tanks ramed the base walls, fired at them and crushed them. Shrapnal, crushed cement and debirs flew all over the place. Soon, the entire outer base was destroyed. A glorious sucess of the tanks, but all left was a underground tunnel that led to where the rebels controlled the base from. That's is where the JWIs come in. They are to storm the tunnel and take control of it.

The final fight in the battle of Uxmal...

The JWIs were pretty well rested and ready to begin. Xihuitl, although still upset by the grizzly massacre he was involved in eariler, was ready to complete this mission. The JWIs replenished their ammunition, got new armor and prepaired for the next major battle. Soon, the order was given and the JWIs were on the way.

Xihuitl and several JWIs came up to the door to the secret tunnels. The door had a lock on it, and the only way to open it was to know the combo, or so it seemed.

Xihuitl looked at the lock, all the numbers were different than Meso-American or European digits. It was in some foriegn language and it seemed impossible to open. A JWI with a grenade stepped up and said "There is no combat problem that can not be solved with a little expolisves!" He pulled the pin and set it in front of the door. The JWIs scrambled for protection. BOOM! The door was gone to say the least. The JWIs got back together and entered the tunnels.

Xihuitl was the first one in there. It was dark, dank, humid and hot, worse then then it was outside. He, along with the other JWIs ventured into the tunnel. No enemies in sight. They continued to search, wandering around the dark tunnel. The JWIs found a door and opened it. As soon as they did, fire leaped out of the door and burned on of the JWIs. "Are you alright?" Asked Xihuitl. The injured JWI looked at him and said "I could be better, I need to get this burn treated, though." So the injured JWI left and went back for treatment. With the fire subsided, the JWIs entered the room. It was a control room of some sort. It was heavily damaged, as the roof was caved in and the earth above was falling in. Also, the smell of burnt electronics filled the air. Xihuitl came up to another door. He put his hand on it. "It's hot, but not enough to have a fire on the other side." He said. They opened the door. "REBELS!" Yelled out one of the JWIs. A quick fire fight broke out immediatly. The JWIs quickly killed the five gaurds protecting the cooridor. Seeing the coast being clear, the JWIs moved into the corridor. Xihuitl walked infront of the JWIs. As he walked through the corridor, door opened and a rebel jumped out and takled him. Xihuitl's gun fell to the side. The other JWIs took aim but did not fire, fearing they would hit Xihuitl. Xihuitl and the rebel began to fight. Originally, the rebel had the advantage, having Xihuitl on his back. However, being much heavier built and stronger then the rebel, Xihuitl quickly overcame him and puched the rebel in the face, making him fall on his back. Xihuitl quickly picked up the rebel and put his back to the wall, then kneed him in the stomach. The rebel pulled out a knife and tried to stab Xihuitl. However, Xihuitl noticed this and knocked the knife out of the rebel's hand. Without any weapons, the rebel surrendered and was arrested by another JWI.

Continuing on, Xihuitl and the JWIs went through the tunnel and came up to another room. Inside it were 30 rebels and five rebel commanders. There was no stealthy way to get them, the only option was a head on confrontation.

Xihuitl burst open the door and yelled out "SURRENDER NOW!" The rebels picked up their weapons and began to fire. Xihuitl ran behind some cover and began to fire. Other JWIs poured into the room and began firing. Above Xihuitl, a rebel stood on a platform and jumped on him. Xihuitl fell to the ground, dropped his weapon and had another hand to hand combat scenario. Unfortinatly, his opponet was a marshal arts expert...

The attacker gave Xihuitl a hard kick to the side and knocked him down with a leg sweep. Suprised, hirt, but undaunted, Xihuitl got back up and prepaired to fight. His rifle was across the room, so he could not get it. The attacker charged after him and punched him a powerful hit into the chest. That knocked Xihuitl down again and into a metal wall. Crealy in pain, Xihuitl got back up and prepaired to fight again. The attacker charged after him again, but this time, when he tried to punch Xihuitl, Xihuitl twisted the attackers arm and tripped him, sending the attacker on to the ground. Xihuitl then put the attacker on his back and punched him repeatedly in the face. Once the attacker looked like he was knocked out, Xihuitl took a breath and let down his gaurd...bad move. The attacker picked up a piece of sharp debris and hit Xihuitl flat on the chest, sending him backwards. He looked at his flak jacket and notice teh debris had hit him above the jacket. He was bleeding pretty badly, but still, he got back up to fight. This time, Xihuitl went on the offensive. Xihuitl ran and tackled the attacker and knocked him out with a quick blow to the face. Xihuitl then picked up his gun and began to fire at the 10 remaining rebels. Commander Westington, the rebel commander of the base knew this attempt was futile. He then put his hands up and said "We surrender." With that, the rebel base was captured. Xihuitl gave a great sigh of relief that the battle was nowo over.

After the rebels in the forest were notifed of the surrender of the Uxmal base, the Red Gaurd arrested all of the rebels. Most of them surrendered peacefully, but there were still few who did not. 12 JWIs died in the tunnel fights. 32 rebels died and 10 were captured.

Xihuitl was tired. He thought he would be able to take a nice rest and be comfortable. Heck, maybe he could see his girlfriend. But, such luck did not come his way. He has recived new orders from ANL command. He was ordered to serve at the front lines of the battle of Chitzen Itza.

At Uxmal...

As the area begins to settledown, several troops begin to inspect the base, or what's left of it. The area is a mess. Wires, rubble, papers, debris lay on the floor everywhere. Blood dotted the walls from the battle ealier. The troops moved about the complex and eventually came to room the JWIs have not investigated. The Red Garudsmen opened the door, inside was a radio room, a computer and a map. The radio was on, a rebel could be heard on it saying

"...Uxaml...Come please...Uxmal...report!...Is the base all right..."

A Red Gaurdsman turned off the radio. Then they inspected the computer. Very different from an ANL computer. One of the Senior Gaurdsmen, who served in the first ANL revolution, looked at it and said "Oh my God, this looks like a computer from teh Tomez Militia!" They then turned to the map. It dispalyed several rebel bases in the lands of Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicuragua. The one in Nicuragua was the largest and was labeled "TM". The Tomez Militia has returned. "Warn the Capital of the situation" one of the Red Gaurdsmen said, and they gathered the materials and went to the groud above.

OOC Notes:
The Tomez Militia was a group that controled the Aztecs before the first revolution (pre-NS), now, they allied with the rebels and are now working to gain control of the ANL and enslave the people again. Also, they want to kill the Premier, as Quetzalcoatl was the leader of the first revolution.

The President of Kay Son has heard word of your troubles and inquires if he could send a 'specialist' team that can avert the downfall of your government. The members of this team consists of members of various departments within our defense ministry as well as intelligence agency. Although Kay Son is a 'young' country, we are willing to assist you in any means possible.

A group of rebels stand at a roadblock outside Chitzen Itza, milling about. All of a sudden, they can hear the growling of several diesel engines. They quickly cock their weapons, but it is no use. From over the hill, a ZIL truck, with a 155mm howitzer in the back, AC/DC playing at maximum volume from the interior speakers, lands a few feet away from the roadblock, followed by the rest of the LRR column. A wiesel quickly has the rebels in its 20mm sights, and a group of Wolfs stop just before the roadblock, letting off a group of heavily armed LRR mechanized infantrymen.

"ON THE GROUND!"

They run towards the rebels with Ak-74s at the ready. The Wolf gunners also aim towards the rebels. Through the roadblock streams the rest of the 21st mechanized infantry. The Gazelles cover the convoy from the air, in turn supported by Su-22s and Super Gripens.

The column soon reaches the former rebel base, finding it mostly destroyed.

Meanwhile, in the streets of Chitzen Itza, the 20 LRR special ops troops look for ANL forces......

On the coast, a pair of CB-90s motor up near a small fishing village, in a remote and dry portion of the coast, far from the main fighting. The LRR heavy ships would not even cover up this far. But still, someone had to do the job, so the two CB-90s motor up towards the village. The two boats carry 20 total special ops troops, about half of their maximum capacity. Special ops in LRR is a very general term, usually pertaining to troops who sneak around and perform recon missions, as opposed to the standard LRR mechanized infantrymen, antitank trooper, medical trooper, driver, or tanker. LRR special ops troops are given a bit more training, and most can swim and can manage close combat scenarios. (The average LRR soldier is firepower-based).

The two CB-90s land on a small sandbar and let out their troops. The commander of the special forces embarked on the two CB-90s, Lieutenant Sarah Dobbs, is the first off the bow of the boat. The dress of the spec ops troops does little to confirm their nationality. The LRR regular forces, while very strange, usually carry national insignia and unit insignia, and the occasional Hendrix t-shirt bought from last year's concert. Lieutenant Dobbs wears a pair of green shorts and a tank top, as well as webbing containing ammunition pouches, canteens, and a .45 UCP pistol. The rest of the LRR spec ops wear similarly casual clothing, hawaiian shirts, etc.

Lt. Dobbs jumps off the bow into the water, about a foot deep, and wades to shore.

"We're gonna check out that village up ahead, ok? Let's go."

The 20 spec ops troops make a quick pace towards the outskirts of the village, moving stealthily and quickly.

At Chitzen Itza... (... <is starting to become my trade mark)


At the mid-defense ring, the rebel force is finally in sight of the ANL troops. Knowing diplomacy was only a dream at this point, the ANL took the first shots. The JWIs operating teh gun turrets and missile laucnhers proved to be much better than the computer controls. As the turrets fire away, the ground troops then, as before, poped out of the grasses and fired away at the troops. The tanks too, fired at the same time. Within seconds, the entire front line of the rebels was in flames. ANL victory seemed assured...

However, the rebels changed their tactics. In seconds, the rebels formed up their tanks in tight formations. 3 tanks per road, almost going over the road. The troops followed behind. The tanks then fired their jerry-riged flame cannons and charged at the ANL line with full speed. The ANL troops could not hold back the tanks and moved out of the way. The missile launcers and tanks were the only thing is the way of the rebels. Tanks fired shells ar each other. Missiles flew about. 11 rebel tanks blew up, taking out gound troops, both rebel and ANL troops. As the tanks charged towards the line, the ANL troops attempted to make one last effort to defend the line. With greater ferver then before, the missiles and shells flew towards the enemy lines. Rebel troops were picked off by ANL troops either sniping at them or having hand to hand combat. But, the tanks just kept comming. The ANL tanks would not move. CRASH!

The great two opposing forces smashed into each other. The screeching sound of metal again metal reverberated in the air, but the rebels were not stopped. They pressed on past the line. Although they had taken heavy losses, about 25 lost tanks, they still pushed to the base. 17 ANL tanks were in ruins.

The rebel troops behind the tanks then fought with the ANL forces. The JWIs jumped up and shot at the rebels. Within the first minute, 25 rebel were shot and killed. The Red Gaurd then fired at the rebels and killed several more. The ANL turrets fired at the hoards of rebels, mowing down line after line. But the rebels still came strong. The rebels shot inot hte ANL troops. Many JWIs and Red Gaurdsmen fell to their knees as they were shot. The sound of the battle could be heard for miles. Bullets streaked throught the air, hitting targets randomly. But soon, the rebels snuck into the grass, realizing teh rebel tank division was ahead without any gaurds. The ANL troops then abandoned the mid perremeter line and ran full speed to intersept the rebels. Left behind them were heavy losses.

The battle at the base...

As the ANL troops move back one more time following the defeat at the middle defense peremeter, the ANL troops prepair for a win-at-any-costs battle at the base itself. The baddly battered ANL troops wait in utter anoxios silence for the enemy. The base defense systems were on high alert. Here, the defenses were at it's heaviest.

As the tired ANL troops waited, the sky turned gray as the sun began to rise in the rainy day. The close whine of the rebel vehicle engines and the sound of soilders marching could be heard. Then, the rebels appeared, coming closer and closer to the ANL's guns. The ANL troops got ready to fire. The tanks trained their sights on the incomming rebels and the operators of the turrets targeted the incomming vehicles. Suddenly, without warining, the rebels fired a rocket into the base. The rocket was small and hardly did any damage, but still, that was it.

The ANL troops immediatly charged towards the rebels, to fight them here. To try to stop the advance before it was too late. The Red Gaurd and JWIs shot into the rebels, the rebels shooting into the Red Gaurd and the JWIs. The ANL troops coming from behind the rebels also were caught in the fight. The rebel tanks flame throwers showered hot flames and ignited several of the troops, ANL and rebel alike. Tanks pounded each other with shells, bullets and rockets. The machine gun turrets fired into the confused mess of clashing forces, causing rebel and ANL troops to fall. 6 rebel tanks stood on the road, blackened by fire from their destruction, 5 ANL tanks lay their guns silent after vailent fight next to the base, JWIs fighting with all weapons availble, sometimes resorting to using the knifes in their jackets to attack the enemy (a common JWI tactic), the battle sceen was awful. The sound and fury of thousands of guns, tens of tanks and countless bullets reverberated in the air. The battle could be heard for miles.

Seconds turned into minutes, minutes into hours, within minutes, the ANL troops and the rebel troops seemed to be in a unbreakable stalemate. Then, off in the distance, several trucks seemed to be comming closer. They seemed to becoming from the city of Chitzen Itza, the city of Veracruz and from Uxmal. Allied re-enforcements are arriving.

The PR of Kay Son kindly informs the Aztec National League that a company will be dispatched to protect it's investment of medical teams. This company will also be providing background checks as part of new regulations passed by the Junta.

We are glad to see such friendship from such a young nation. You will have a honored place among our allies.

Over the hill comes a heavily armed and armored ZIL truck. On the back, a pair of troops can be seen shoving a 155mm round into the breech of the howitzer. As the truck speeds towards the battle area, the stabilized cannon fires an AP round at a rebel T-72. The crew is rewarded by the sight of the turret blasting several feet in the air.

The ZIL then pulls over to the side of the road, and fires another round at a rebel tank. Meanwhile, the rest of the LRR force speeds down the road. The 20mm cannon armed Wiesels fire on the rebel troops, while TOW and RBS-56 equipped vehicles continue to pick off tanks and armored targets.

Escorted by the cannon-armed Wiesels, the convoy of Wolf FAVs nears the battlefield. The troops jump off the Wolfs and head towards the battle. The Wolfs themselves provide fire support with their machine guns.

Overhead, five Gazelle IIs fly near the treetops at high speed. They target the flamethrower tanks with their missiles, and quickly unmask over the forest canopy to release their payload on the Rebel armored force. As soon as the missiles are on their way, the helicopters disappear below the treetops and move around, looking for another firing location. The re-armerment ZILs also appear, and crews run up to the trucks, removing bundles of 155mm ammunition and TOW rockets.

At low level and supersonic speed, 12 Su-22 Fitters arrive over the battlefield, laden with napalm. They drop the shiny, cigar-shaped napalm munitions over the back of the rebel advance, and strafe with their cannons.

Soon, the LRR troops are within firing range of the battle. Several mechanized infantrymen stop to fire their RPGs into the rebel ranks, before throwing them down and proceeding with their Ak-74s and various other assault rifles.

OOC: Sorry, I haven't been on for a while, between volunteering for two political campaigns (stopped after Super Tuesday, I live in So. California), school and studying, I haven't had all that much time for myself.

IC:
A battered JWI ran from the battle scene into the base. He was under orders to try to re-establish radio contact if possible. He fliped on the radio and went through all the frequencies. He looked at the little LCD screen, watching the numbers fly by, listening to the static. However, as he went into the higher frequencies, the static became less and less notcable, and something unusual was becoming more predominate...guitars...

Then, on frequency 223.29, AC/DC was blaring out of the radio...

Sound of the drums
Beatin' in my heart
The thunder of guns
Tore me apart
You've been - thunderstruck


Suprised by this, he realized the ANL allies do have different radio frequencies. Removing the mud from his forehead, he fliped on the radio and called out:

"...Come in please, this is ANL Command at Chitzen Itza, allied troops, please respond..."

OOC: This was directed at LRR.

One of the Wiesels picks up this transmission.

The driver turns the AC/DC off and turns his radio headset on.

"Eh? This is the LRRA third mechanized. Chitzen Itza, yeh say? Well, from the looks of it, we're already here. You know, those infantrymen sent down. I can see'em from here."

The TOW operator launches another missile at the rebel tanks.

"So, where do you want us? We've got some heavy artillery and some missiles and stuff."

The ANL troop responds:

"Man, are we glad you are here. Please come down Road 754, thirteen miles west of your current position. Once you get to the road, go to the west, this will bring you right to our base where we are facing large rebel invasion force. The rebels you are fighting now will be picked off by incomming Communist Louisiana and ANL forces. Once you arive at the base, you will -click-..."

At the base, a missile is fired from a rebel and hits the radio transmission attenna.

The ANL troop responds:

The Wiesels head towards the road at fast pace, followed by the ZILs and Wolf jeeps. A trio of MT-LBs also scurries along behind. They soon reach the road, and head west, under the cover of the Gazelle IIs and Su-22s.

Meanwhile, inbound from LRR, a naval taskforce appears off the coast, consisting of several new destroyers and frigates, as well as the tried and true Sovremennys and Krivaks. Also accompanying the force is a Slava class missile cruiser and and a gaggle of transport ships, which contain an armored brigade, equipped with the new modified AMX-30s and a mechanized infantry brigade.

The landing ships prepare to beach, and wait for low tide. Crews man their vehicles and prepare for landing.

The amphibious assault force offshore.

The Ivan Rogovs that carry the bulk of the Armored Brigade, at about 3/4th strength as it is an overseas operation, come in close to the heavily forested shores of the landing beach, chosen for its road access. The water is not very deep, especially at low tide, so the Ivan Rogovs offload almost half a kilometer from the shore.

The lighter armored vehicles like the Wiesels and scorpions navigate the tide zone easily, and quickly reach the staging base, set up by helicopter-borne crews earlier. However, the AMX-30s do not take the loose sand as well. The majority get onto land with a minimum of trouble, but this is not true for all of the tanks.

One AMX, armed with a heavy 155mm howitzer, drives down the ramp of the Ivan Rogov at full speed, and sticks the barrel of the howitzer deep into the sand. However, the recovery crews are quick to come to the stranded tank's aid. Used to working from CB-90s, rigid raiders, and CEV-3 light engineer's vehicles in the frigid waters off LRR, they are having a good time in the warm, tropical waters off ANL. A CEV-3 (based on the Spartan APC, a small armored recovery vehicle with a crane, big engine, and winch. Used by marine recovery teams because the CEV-2 is just barely amphibious, and any weight on it would sink the giant bulldozer-tank) rolls over to the AMX-155.

"Dig the barrel out of the sand there! Dostoyevski, put the hook on the tow loop!"

The recovery crew pulls the AMX out of the mud and onto shore.

After the AMXs get off the ships, the real stars of the LRR armored force roar off the Rogovs. The MBT-5s, with their 140mm cannons mounted in monstrous turrets with 20mm turrets on top of that, and twin ATGM launchers, careen off the ships and onto shore with almost no trouble at all.

Meanwhile, the marines (changed it from mechanized infantry. Basically the same except the marines are more reliant on wheeled and light thracked vehicles whereas the Mechanized Infantry, with very little overseas deployment responsibility, mabye crossing the baltic on some hovercrafts once and a while, are far more based on heavy tracked APCs and tank destroyers like the M113 and MT-LB, their two main APCs, and CV-90s for combat mobility and firepower), loaded into the flotilla of Tapir LSTs, prepare to land. The LCVPs slung to the sides of the Tapirs are dropped into the water, and marines climb down cargo nets, into the waiting craft for the short trip to shore. The LCVPs drop the marines off at the edge of the tide zone, and they walk inland. The Tapirs are able to almost reach the same position as the LCVPs, and they deposit the marines' Scimitars, Spartans, Land Rovers, Pinzgauers, and other vehicles on the sand. They scurry up the beach and onto land.

In a few hours, the LRR beachhead is well-established, and engineers start to set up piers and such.

"So, comrade, it looks like we will be fighting together after all." Said Xihuitl. "So it appears, which way is to the base, time is of the essence!" Said the CL commander. Xihuitl wiped sweat off his forhead and pointed in the direction of the base. The CL Commander noticed the healing wound on Xihuitl's arm. "Where did that come from?" Said the commander with intrigue. Xihuitl simply replied "a knife fight at the battle of Uxmal." With that, the ANL troops and CL troops were on the way.

At the base...

Gun fire could be heard all around. Rockets and bombs flew towards the opposing forces, each trying to gain the upperhand. A JWI trained his machine gun turret on a tank and began firing. The rebel tank seemed unhampered by the machine gun bullets, but then, it burst into flames. To everyone's utter suprise, all the radios in the area reactiveated. The comm. jamming unit was defeated. Radio traffic instantly resumed to normal. The base sent out this message to the incoming Allies.

"This is the ANL base, please come over and intersept the rebel force. Please contact our troops over radio to notify them of your arrival. "

The incomming CL and ANL troops joined up with the ANL troops protecting the base. Still the rebels tried to approch the base. As they came closer, Xihuitl's JWI group took aim and prepaired to fire.

"READY!" yelled out Xihuitl.
-The rebel tanks and troops come closer-
"AIM!"
-The rebels were only a couple of yards away...
REBELS OPEN FIRE--
"FIRE AND SCATTER!" Yelled out Xihuitl.
Bullets, shells, fire and blood fly across the air.

The 21st mechanized pours fire into the rebel assault. Machine guns on the Wolf jeeps sweep across the rebel advance line, the heavily sandbagged vehicles withstanding small-arms fire. The Wiesels also fire their weapons on the rebel advance from whatever cover the vehicles can find, easy because of their small size.

The Gazelles continue to shoot at rebel tanks with HOT and RBS 56 missiles.

From over the jungle canopy, a gaggle of eight gazelles, accompanied by an aged Alouette III, come in low over the battlefield. The Gazelles pick their targets and launch their ATGMs at rebel armored vehicles near the base. The Alouette, armed with cannon and rocket pods, fires into the advancing rebel infantry and light armor.

Down the jungle roads come MBT-5 main battle tanks, 15 in total, followed by a group of 30 various AMXs, some armed with TOW missiles, others armed with big 155mm howitzers. The marines come afterwards, but in Lynx helicopters. The cargo doors are open wide, and marines brandish their various rifles and MGs out the open doors. The Lynxes, along with Gazelles armed with HOTs and cannon pods, circle the armored column below. Behind the tanks come the marine light tanks and trucks. The Spartan APCs carry missile and mortar teams, and the heavily armed land rovers carry all the extra troops that they can fit.

Soon, the lead helicopters can see the smoke of the battle.

"There they are! We're gonna set you down over there, once the vehicles are in place."

The gazelles from the marine and armored force dive down towards the battle. Smoke trails from HOT missiles can be seen as they streak towards rebel armor. The Gazelles dive and turn as they strafe rebel ground units. From the Lynxes, the road is also easily seen. The 15 MBT-5s can be seen turning off the road and for the short trans-brush trip to the battlesite. The large tanks make quick progress through the underbrush. ATGMs carried on the tanks are fired at rebel armor, as well as the 20mm cannon. The main cannon, however, is not used until the tanks clear the brush.

The lead MBT-5 flies out of the bushes at maximum speed, and lets fly a 140mm shell at a rebel tank. The other MBT-5s follow suit as they take firing positions. Xihuitl's group stood before the rebel force and was fighting. Several of the JWIs were killed or dying on the ground. The others fought vailently against enemy odds. Xihuitl was on his stomach, firing his gun into the on comming rebels. Even though the JWIs did kill several rebels, the small band of 50 JWIs could not hold back the overwhelming rebeln forces, with much resentment, Xihuitl called out to his troops "Break formation!"

Soon, the JWIs scattered into the tall pampas grasses and disappeared. However, as the JWIs scattered, several enemy troops followed them. BANG BANG BANG. A JWI running next to Xihuitl fell flat on the ground. The sounds of bullets could be heard all around. Xihuitl turned around to face the incomming rebels, without thinking, he fired into them. He was fighting 6 rebels. He stopped and continued firing. 2 of the rebels fell, but, the others tackled him down. Xihuitl lost hold of the gun but grabbed hold of a knife in his open flak jacket. However, before he could defend him self, a assult rifle barrel was pressing down on his chest. Recluctantly, he surrendered to the rebels. They proped him up and stripped him of the flak jacket and all ammunition he had. They put hand cuffs on him and dragged him at gun point to the rebel attack force. As they marched to the rebels, Xihuitl looked into the afternoon sun and though his life was over. He then looked down at the dead bodies of his comrades and the rebels. As they walked, a very very loud explosion occured-the CL and ANL forces had fired all their weapons at the same time at the incomming rebels.

OCC: ANL, don't forget to post rebel losses from my attacks.

The LRR marines land in their LZ, and rush foreward towards the rebels. The Scimitars and various other armored vehicles that support them head in the direction of the battle, the marines themselves close behind. The MBT-5s also direct fire on the targets of the marine advance as they themselves, along with AMX-TOW, AMX-155, and AMX-140 tanks, head at full speed into the engagement. They burst into the battle.

"Tank, 9 o'clock!"
"Got it!"

The loader on the MBT-5 shoves another 140mm round into the gun, and the gunner fires it off at a rebel tank as soon as it is in the breech. An RPG hits the heavily armored side of the MBT-5, causing it to shake, but the ERA holds back the force of the blast.

The 20mm cannon turret on the top of the tank sweeps across the rebel advance.

The MBT-5s stop once they reach the ANL government troops' line. They provide the support the troops need to hold back the rebel advance. The 15 heavy tanks chew up armor and infantry alike, and close behind are the AMXs.

"Armure, vers la droite!"
"Je le vois!"
"C'est un T-80!"

The TOW operator gets a lock on the tank, but before the missile is fired, a rebel infantry contingent sprays the tank with MG fire.

"Descendez!"

The crew ducks to avoid the MG fire, and shoots back with the AMX's 7.62mm machine gun. The rebel infantry that shot at the AMX-TOW is the subject of cannon and MG fire from at least 10 other AMXs. They do not last long. The AMXs move around the battlefield, stopping to shoot or to avoid an obstacle. The small number of troops in the Armored brigade stay close to their vehicles, protecting them from rebel special ops troops or other anti-tank units.

"Ok, keep up the pace!"
"I'M HIT!"
"Get 'em out of here!"
"RPG!"

The armored infantry immediately locate the RPG-wielding rebel and empty the magazines of their Ak-74s and SA-82s (modified SA-80s) into him and the surrounding rebel infantry. A wiesel speeds up, with a squad of mechanized infantry in tow. The infantrymen, with the support of the Wiesel, advance towards the furthest ANL line. The rest of the mechanized infantry troops do likewise.

Another squad of mechanized infantry, accompanied by a Wiesel, reach the commander of the ANL garrison.

"Sir! 21st mechanized infantry, we have reinforced your line and await your orders on how to proceed."


While the army units are reinforcing the ANL garrison, the marines take a different approach.

"Prepare for landing!"
"This is blue lead, all craft prepare for landing."

A gazelle fires a pair of smoke rockets at the landing site. The scimitars, land rovers, and other armored vehicles on the ground turn towards the smoke, and arrive at the LZ as soon as the first helicopters touch down. The marines jump off their Lynxes, and head at full speed down on the rebel flank. The scimitars, etc. fire their cannons and MGs into the rebel troops as the marines advance down into the valley.

As part of this advance, a pair of heavily armed land rovers charge through the long grass. The gunner on the lead rover spots a group of infantry heading through the grass, with what looks like a captive.

"Oy, some guys, to the right!"

The land rovers turn and head towards the rebels and Xihuitl.

"ON THE GROUND! ON THE GROUND!"

The rovers skid to a stop, and 7 marines jump out of their rovers, their weapons aimed at the group of men. The gunners scan the area for any other threats, and send the occasional burst of MG fire into rebel concentrations.

ANL loses are considerably lower because of the machine gun turrets wiping out the rebels, along with allied assistance.

As the ANL and CL troops fire on the rebel force, Xihuitl falls to the ground. He looks over himself, making sure he has not been shot. Glad to notice he had not been shot, Xihuitl, avoiding cross fire and rebel attention, slowly rolled into the pampas grassand laid there for a second. He though of the battles of Uxmal and Chitzen Izta, and all the combat he went through. The last few weeks have been quite bloody, but it was his honor as a young man to serve his country. He looked up at the blue sky with pride of his actions, not of the death he may have caused, but pride that he has defended his nation. This moment was distrubed by a rebel troop falling on him. Moving away, the noticed it was the same rebel who had the keys to the handcuffs clenched tightly around his writs. Xihuitl found the keys and quickly began to try them all, try to unlcok the handcuffs. Within a couple of minutes, he found the right key and unlocked the hand cuffs. After that, he ran to the ANL/CL troops. The ANL troops did not shoot at Xihuitl, as he had a JWI band on his forearm. After the rebels were beat there, the ANL and CL troops, with Xihuitl, moved back to the base to get rid of the rebel threat.

Unknown to the ANL troops, a rebel jeep moved off into the grass and drove away, with it was a missile pack.

Down at their base the Terran Empire Marines fortify them selves, the air base looked more like a castle than an air base really, Staff Sergeant Matthew M. Dingman with his company of augmented marines stood at watch over all sections of the wall, their eyes, which were also augmented that could se over 20/20 looked out to the horizon. All clear, Matt thought, all marines were stood out from the normal soldiers because of the way they look, on major muscled areas such as their claves, biceps, pectorals, and back of the neck were a blue color do to their augmentation, their muscles could withstand many amounts of pressure and work, they were elite obedient soldiers bent on protecting the air base and the occupants within it.
“Corpal Shepard, any sign of the rebel?” Matthew asked even though they have been here for 3 weeks they have only fought minor waves of rebels, who were inferior to the organization and weaponry the marines used.
“Nothing sir…. wait we have a transmission from our scout out there, I will patch it to you now sir.” SSgt Dingman was the company 2nd in command. Dingman took out a small video pad and turned it on there stood a face masked in dark green mask, specialist Mays appeared. He held a small but highly efficient digital video camera with feedback to a video pad.
“Sir I think you my want to see this it appears that the rebels have invaded the local army base, neutralized all the personnel, and took all the equipment they are heavily armed with body armor M-16 A2’s 17 Abraham M1-tanks. They are heading north to your southern end of the base, they are moving with considerable speed only resting for a few hours at a time, be prepared, Mays out.” And the screen turned off.
“Damn, better contact Lt. Col Thompson about this,” matt told himself he pulled out a long distance walki-talkie and turned it to the lieutenant colonial.
“Lt. Col Thompson come in over,” he waited listening to the cackle of the small hand held radio then he heard a familiar voice.
“This is Thompson over,” the Lt. Col said
“Sir this is SSgt Dingman, we have reports of a very large and extremely dangerous convoy coming at our six please advise, over,” Matt said nonchalantly.
“Come to the briefing room and we’ll make plans Lt. Col over and out.” And that was that Matt had to move quickly so he took the short way off the ledge he jumped, Matt knew that he can make the 20 foot fall to the mid section then take the stairs the rest of the way down, after that matt sprinted down the stairs his augmented legs carrying as fast as a gazelle he covered the 3 miles of air field in 10 minutes flat, as he made it inside the building he slung up his rifle and walked to the briefing room in their in his marine Corps uniform was Lt. Col Thompson and next to him was Captain Saheem Rojor of the Aztec National League.
Upon entering Matt snapped to attention and gave a crisp salute, the colonial saluted back.
”now down to business,” the Lt. Col stated dully, “as the SSgt already said a large convoy is on its way to this very airbase,” Saheem swallowed loudly “ Dingman I want you to get 500 Marines on the wall of our south end and watch for the convoy, then get the rest on every other side of the base so we don’t get flanked with our pants down, Saheem I want your soldiers to play worker ants I want them to take the ground area incase they break through the wall in which case we will drop down and defend you. But I mostly want your soldiers to pass ammunition boxes med kits up and to my boys on the wall, along with power tools.”
“Why power tools sir?” Saheem asked
“My boys are more machine that man and we need a few nuts and bolts up there along with drill and torched in case hey need to operate on them selves, but I doubt that they will need to do that its mostly fiber optics and condensed gel, that makes up their ballistic protection the only thing that would need the power tools is maybe the joints as in the elbows and knees, that’s all,” Thompson explained “Dingman I also want to warm up the Harriers in case the tanks are too much to handle, also I want a rocket crew after every tenth man on the wall you got that.”
“SIR YES SIR,” matt shouted
“Then move soldier,” Thompson commanded. After that matt went to organize the troops. After 4 hours every thing was in place 500 marines set their eyes on the south horizon looking for movement the Aztec soldiers worked very hard on getting ammunition boxes medical supplies and power tools through out the entire south wall 350 men on each other wall sat with out protection. The hum of the Harrier engines rang in the back round and every tenth spot had to men standing there, that was the rocket crew one to load one to fire, they sat with fortitude their eyes trained on the south horizon the sun was setting in the west….

As the ANL and CL troops fire on the rebel force, Xihuitl falls to the ground. He looks over himself, making sure he has not been shot. Glad to notice he had not been shot, Xihuitl, avoiding cross fire and rebel attention, slowly rolled into the pampas grassand laid there for a second. He though of the battles of Uxmal and Chitzen Izta, and all the combat he went through. The last few weeks have been quite bloody, but it was his honor as a young man to serve his country. He looked up at the blue sky with pride of his actions, not of the death he may have caused, but pride that he has defended his nation. This moment was distrubed by a rebel troop falling on him. Moving away, the noticed it was the same rebel who had the keys to the handcuffs clenched tightly around his writs. Xihuitl found the keys and quickly began to try them all, try to unlcok the handcuffs. Within a couple of minutes, he found the right key and unlocked the hand cuffs. After that, he ran to the ANL/CL troops. The ANL troops did not shoot at Xihuitl, as he had a JWI band on his forearm. After the rebels were beat there, the ANL and CL troops, with Xihuitl, moved back to the base to get rid of the rebel threat.

One of the gunners spots movement in the grass, and on closer inspection, it is revealed to be a jeep with a missile pack on it.

The land rover makes a sharp turn and follows the rebel missile jeep. Soon, it becomes apparent that it is hostile.

The gunner cocks his .50 MG, and fires into the rebel jeep. The co-driver does the same with his 7.62mm MG mounted on the hood. The marines on the rover also fire with their AN-94 rifles.

One of the rebels in the jeep notice the incomming LRR fire. Almost instantly, he flips the switch on the missile pack and 6 missile scream into the air. They rise beyond the fire of the LRR troops and fly at an amazing speed. They soon scrambled and went off into different directions.

The jeep was being assulted by bullets, On of the rebels was hit in the head and fell out of the jeep. The two remaining rebels attempted to avoid the incomming bullets, but the driver lost control, fish tailed and hit a patch of rough rock and the jeep fliped over 3 times. The driver and the other rebel crawled out of the jeep. They were cut up and badly hurt. The driver fliped on to his back, only to see the jeep explode-several of the bullets shot into the fuel tank and others damaged the engine and fuel line. The jeep was instantly engulfed in flames. Soon, the LRR troops would reach the rebel soilders.

While back at the base...

The People's Republic of Kay Son inquires if they can donate military hardware to counter such terrorist activities. (The reason that this has come about is mainly of our Navy's 'wide eyes' in boosting their numbers, which has confounded the normal logisitics in having such vast quanities of hardware.)

On the coast of ANL, a moderately-sized naval task force waits to be comitted. Also with them are the 500 or so troops of the river assault force.

It's the middle of the day. The sun beats hard on the tropical, coastal city of Veracruz. Overall, it's a typical Aztec day, hot, humid, but enjoyable. Because of the threat of the impending attack, the military is abuzz. A large cargo plane is taking off in the airport. However, this day will be severely marred. As the plane begins to gain altitude, one of the missiles launched from the jeep streaks through the city. With in seconds, a loud explosion could be heard. This was followed by a horrific crash, deafening explosion and a tremendous shake in the ground...

No, although we thank our comrade bretheren for their offer of assistance, we and some of the allies in place in the ANL shall take care of this.

As the conflict in Veracruz blows up, the attack on Chitzen Itza is winding down. The rebels can no longer hold up on their own and with less than 2,389 troops, surrendered to the Allies. They are now being temporarily detained in the base's brig.

Several forces are being moved to Veracruz to help stop the attack there.

The Federation of Bradish States secretly sends 10 specialists to help train the rebels in guerilla warfare as their base will inevitably fall. They willl provide training only and will not participate in combat or supply the rebels with any weapons.

The LRRN task group arrives near Veracruz. It has now been joined by 15 Albatross LACs, armed with rocket artillery systems.

The ships begin pounding the rebel positions. Ka-27 helicopters armed with ATGMs and folding-fin rockets fly missions against rebel troops from frigates, destroyers, and cruisers.

From LRR, another marine brigade is airlifted towards Veracruz, along with a squadron of Jaguar IIs and Super Gripens.

The LRR armored and marine brigades make good progress from Chitzen Itza towards Veracruz.

The 227th ANL Jagaur Warrior Infantrymen Battalion arrive in Veracruz. As tehy walk around the area where the plane crashed, the once afluent and beautiful city center park lay in ruins. To the center of the city, the now state capital sustained damage from fire and debris. It was amazing, the usually busy city center lay quiet and in ruins, as if armagedon had laid waste to the people and only the ruins of civilization lay testiment to the people. The former Capitol city of the ANL was attacked and the Capitol Center itself was wrecked. Off in the distance, several trucks and heavy gunfire could be heard towards the south. The JWIs reloaded into their transport and headed down to the skirmish.

As they got there, the rebels were shooting into a crowded market and were fighting police forces. The JWIs got out and immediatly began to fight the rebels.

The LRR forces also reach Veracruz. They enter the city under heavy helicopter cover.

The squadrons of the Republican Air Force enter Veracruz. They have orders by the Junta to target and eliminate any possible enemy threat. The Junta inquires if tanks could be tested as well, carried by ANL cargo planes.

The LRR marine and armored brigades move to secure the Veracruz port facilities and reinforce their defense. Albatross LACs continue to fire on any rebel concentrations that are reported by helicopters.

Meanwhile, overhead, the soft whine of jet engines can be heard.

A group of 20 An-72s prepare to drop marine paratroopers on wherever the ANL command needs them.

"ANL command, this is Green wing. Paratroopers are inbound, requesting drop location, over."

As they settle in they wait and wait no sign of the rebels making its way through the southern end of the airbase. All night they waited. Matt was starting to lose patience he heard the distant hum of harrier engines, until they saw a black metallic spear in the air, wait no spear that was a missile it was heading for the city, shit, Matt thought they didn’t have enough time to shoot it down.
“ALL RIGHT LOCK DOWN GET THIS PLACE TIGHT LETS MOVE MARINES DO YOU WANT O LIVE FOREVER!!” Matt shouted over his intercom then he saw them an entire armada of heavily armed soldiers making their way down towards Veracruz airbase. They fired twin rocket launchers that went above their head and hit an empty airfield. Suddenly a calm middle-aged man appeared on his vid screen, which was connected, to the main HQ screen.
“This is rebel Captain Xhity you have 20 minutes to throw down your weapons and surrender without us destroying your worthless hides,” the captain said with a smug little smirk on his face.
“GIVE ‘EM HELL BOYS,” SSgt Dingman yelled over his comm. And all 500 marines opened fire on the convoy, the automatic hum of the M-16’s filed the air and screams below, the battle went on for twelve long hours, the rebels hid behind hill and fired their own weapons both sides having minimal losses on both end, the ANL troopers kept passing empty ammo cases back and fourth refilling it each time so the marines had full ammo. Then the tanks came seventeen of them came and they had attached rocket launchers when they were in view they fired all at once, and when the missiles reached the wall a good portion just fell away in a cloud of dust and fire Matt was far enough away threat he wasn’t killed but he was thrown a good distance away when he hit the hard stone ground he got up quickly to survey the damage nothing serious though. As he looked down the wall he noticed that almost ¾ of the wall the rebels were charging sneaky bastards.
“LINK GET THOSE HARREIRS TO TAKE OUT THE GOD-DAMNED TANKS!” Matt yelled over the comm. Then he heard engines flare up he looked skyward and saw the squadron of AV8b Harriers make their way to the tanks they all fired air to ground missiles making short work of the tanks, through his carelessness Matt was hit with a stray bullet that impacted his left shoulder he fell down, good thing his ballistic protection aug was on or he would be a goner he got up and leaned against the wall even though he wasn’t bleeding from the wound it still hurt like hell he opened fire taking out 3 rebels they were charging for the hole in the wall, after about an hour the gun fire died down the rebels were scattered though Matt knew they were still out there then sun had set so now the fight continues into the dark, but no one was fighting now.
“Damage report,” Matt commanded.
“Sir, the south wall has a large puncture in it, we lost 87 good men on the portion of the wall,” the soldiers voice sounded grim, ”but we were able to save some of the weapons and they are reusable.” The soldier waited for a reply. Matt felt a pang of regret in his heart he knew all these men and they don’t deserve to die like that, but like his old drill instructor said its better to die with a rifle in your hands than with your hands over your ass…
“get some men to repair that wall and get me a scout out their to se what’s going on.”
“Yes sir.”
Now was the final hour of the battle….

The gunfire from the airbase can be heard from the LRR armored and mechanized infantry positions around the Veracruz port facilities. The troops in their defensive positions prepare for a rebel assault, while a contingent of marines prepares to go the airport. An LRRN foreward controller, as well as a contingent of Uhlans troops from the 19th Uhlans brigade also prepare to move out to the airport.

Lieutenant Mary Carver tries to sleep in her hammock in one of the commandeered port buildings in Veracruz, it not being her turn to gaurd. She tries to doze off, but has much trouble. The other marines are very quiet, trained to make very subtle camp, but the heat, plus the 50 other marines in the building made it very difficult to get to sleep. She wears her DPM fatigue pants, rolled up to the knees, and her white dress shirt, unbuttoned down the center, as well as her web gear. A small fan hangs from the ceiling.

Outside, the footsteps of someone running can be heard, getting closer. All of a sudden, the lights come on, and a sweaty marine can be seen in the doorway.

"A company, command says move out, fast!"

The marine disappears before he can be set upon by a swarm of angry sleep-deprived individuals.

Lt. Carver jumps out of her hammock, and throws her dress shirt back up on it. She grabs a flak vest and her AN-94, and heads out the door, to be joined by the 25 marines under her command. They run to the Lynxes outside, and jump in just as they prepare to lift off, escorted by Gazelle IIs. They head for the airport, tracer fire visible form moderately low altitude. Below, the mechanized infantry and armored column can be seen winding its way up the roads towards the airport.

The column is led by MBT-5s, with John Henry APCs, Land Rovers, and Sabre light tanks.

"I have targets in view."
"I see some reb tanks. 7 o'clock."

The MBT-5's turret swivels around and sends a 140mm HEAP round towards a rebel T-80. The other MBT-5s follow suit, sending 140mm rounds into rebel tanks as the force nears the airport. Soon, they are close to the airport facilities. The John Henry APCs can be identified as the source of bright orange tracers arcing towards rebel troops as infantrymen exit out of the back, still under the protection of their parent vehicle.

The MBT-5s continue looking for rebel tanks to destroy, and explosions erupt around the rebel advance lines. The Wiesels use their TOW missiles and 20mm cannons as well. The Land Rovers and Sabres do mostly the same thing, with the Rovers using their multiple MGs to support the Terran Empire marines as well as the LRR mechanized infantry.

This is ANL Soviet High Command. Bulldog1, you have permision to land in Motezuma Airbase in Tenochitilan. Well done on your dealing with the rebels.

he ANL troops arived at Veracruz within a couple of hours. As soon as they got to the city, they immeidatly began to fight. However, several civilans are reported rebels going through the streets. These reports were verified and to try to minimmize civilian casualties, the air raid sirens began to sound...

Xihuitl was suprised by the air raid siren and looked up into the sky. As he looked up, the 5 other missiles that the rebesl fired at Chitzen Izta flew into Veracruz. One of the missiles came down on the market where the JWIs were. Trying to get out of the way, Xihuitl ran. A couple oseconds later, where he was standing exploded and was engulfed in flames. He got up and started to fire again. Then, he got up and fired at the rest of the rebels. Once they were delt with, another grim task came to him, trying to help the injured in the market. He, along with the police and the other JWIs moved the injured civilans into the underground security bunkers (once the air raid sirens go off, everyone heads into these bunkers.) Thousands of people layed injured. Young children, teenagers, adults and elderly people all were hurt. It was horrible. Then, after the injured civilans were moved, the 20 injured JWIs were also oved to the bunkers. The heat from the fires and the sun was unbearable. As soon as the injured were moved out, the JWIs rested in the bunkers. Xihuitl took off his flak jacket and laid back on the cool cement. Only 2 minutes later, Xihuitl's supperior commander comes up and says.

"Alright, we're moving out. We are going to help defend the airbase."

Xihuitl, still extremely hot and soaked in sweat, stands up and puts on his flak jacket. They all move out of the bunker and start running to the airbase 2 1/2 miles away.

As soon as the air rais sirens went off, Red Gaurdsmen and ANL tanks started to patrol the streets of Veracruz. This conflict has climaxed into full scale urban warfare.

The 32nd ANL Red Gaurd Tank Division, 98th ANL Red Gaurd Tank Division and the 67th ANL Red Gaurd Battalion is patroling the streets of Veracruz.

The 42nd ANL Red Gaurd Battalion and the 227th ANL Jagaur Warrior Infantrymen Battalion are heading to the airbase.

OOC: BTW, although I have hit 1 billion, the RP is not over, once the rebel offensive at Veracruz is over, then the main part of it will be over. The last part will be hunting the rebel bases.

Although under heavy siege, the Aztec civilans in the underground tunnels at Veracruz celebrate the mark of the ANL's population hitting 1 billion. Celebrations are expected to commence long into the night. The Premier, in his speech today said:

"...It is unfortinate the milestone of ou great nation must also be happening at the same time as we are fighting a horrible civil war..."

The LRR forces at the airbase attack the rebels from behind, and strafe their ranks with MG and cannon fire as they move in towards the airbase. The tanks are of particular interest to the armored brigade, and MBT-5s, supported by 155mm fire from AMX-155s at the port engage the rebel armor. The plunging fire of the howitzers takes a great toll on the rebel armor, as does the torrent of ATGMs fired by the LRRA, which specializes in anti-tank warfare. The tanks, mostly out of the giant 140mm shells, use primarily their twin ATGMs to engage armored targets, and the 20mm cannons mounted in protected firing positions to support the mechanized infantry.

One squad of mechanized infantry moves along the rebel flank, along with the rest of the mechanized infantry units. They advance under cover of their John Henry APC, which fires 30mm cannon rounds into rebels along with the An-94s and SA-82s of the infantrymen. The night is lit up by muzzle flashes and tracer rounds as they cut through the rebel ranks.

A section of Gazelles streaks in at low altitude, and the 5 gazelles launch folding fin rockets at the rebels.

The rebels at the airbase:

"Damn it, we are surronded!" Yelled out one of the rebels. ANL, LRR and TE troops fire away at the rebels. Within a couple of seconds, half of their troops were gone. With only a handful left, the rest of the rebels stopped firing and laid down their arms. "We surrender! We can not fight any longer!" Yelled out one of the rebels. Although the Airbase has been secured, the rest of the city is still a war zone.

The mechanized infantrymen round up the prisoners and sit them down on the grass outside the airfield. Rations are brought out, and the rebels are checked for weapons and other gear. Several GPMGs are set up to keep watch on the prisoners. Medical crews also come around, and treat any rebels with combat wounds. A group of infantrymen have the duty of breaking weapons, and they take the rebel Aks by the stock and smash them on the ground. Ammunition clips are set up in large heaps some distance away from the airfield.

"Clear!"

Infantrymen can be seen chucking grenades at the piles of ammunition and running away. They produce satisfying explosions.

Meanwhile, the mechanized infantrymen begin worrying about the city.

A company of Uhlans begin to head into the urban area of the city....

The rebels walk down the street, trying to garrison any buildings they could. They could hear the incomming ANL troops comming down the street. As soon as the rebels were hidding in the buildings, the large ANL Armies marched down the street. One rebel had his rifle trained on the ANL troops and was prepaired to fire. His finger was unsteady against the trigger, and the assult rifle went off.

The ANL troops responded by storming the buildings. The smaller buildings with less troops went quickly. As the rest of the rebels began to fire, the ANL troops fired back. Stone, stucco and adobe flew in the air as bullets streaked and hit there targets. Soon, several buildings were back under ANL control, though, as the rebel troops were spread awfully thin.

As the battle raged on, rebel re-enforsements came and began to attack the ANL troops. Caught in the crossfire, several ANL troops died. However, as they died, the ANL tank divisions came up from behind and attacked. Within 30 minutes, all the rebels had either died or surrendered. However, intellegence reports several rebel troops are moving down to the city center in Veracruz.

A company of Uhlans troopers advance into the outskirts of the city. Their Land Rovers, Wiesels, and Sabres make good progress through the narrow city streets.

As they move deeper into the city, they come under sporadic fire from buildings. The vehicles lay down suppressing fire while infantrymen storm into the buildings. After a brief firefight, the shooting dies down and many rebels come out to surrender. Medical troopers carry away the wounded to John Henry ambulence variants.

"STRAF RAIDS ARE AUTHORIZED. INTELLEGENCE REPORTS INDICATE REBELS ARE CLUSTERED IN CITY CENTER AND AROUND THE CAPITAL. PLEASE TRY YOUR BEST NOT TO DAMAGE OR DESTOY GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS. ALL PROPERTY OR ANL LIVES `LOST, HOWEVER, WILL BE CONSIDERED LOST TO FRIENDLY FIRE."

The Uhlans company makes its way to the Western Defense Headquarters.

Meanwhile, a section of OV-10 II Buffaloes takes off from a stretch of road near the LRR mechanized infantry brigade's position.

"This is Mesquetor 1 to ANL ground control, do you copy, over?"

The OV-10 II says a lot about the LRRMF. It's cheap, first of all, and it's not particularly advanced. Simple and easy to repair. Just put in some new electronics, new weapons systems, new engines, and voila! You have a new airplane for half the cost of some new-fangled Gaurdrail or Astor. Not only does it serve as a light support aircraft when helicopters don't have the endurance, but it also works as an intermediate trainer and light transport. It usually works with Gazelle wings.

The three Broncos do not retract their landing gear, as the OV-10 II has fixed gear, and head for the city. Mesquetor lead's radar picks up the gaggle of Gazelles, circling the outskirts of the city. They provide cover for LRR and allied columns coming in and out of the city, but do not enter the city itself, being designed to operate in sparsely-populated LRR and with little urban capability. Wiesels, Sabres, John Henrys, MBT-5s, and other armored vehicles can be seen lazily distributed around the city, but leave the urban combat to the Uhlans, trained for this kind of thing.

Several plane formations flew by the city center of Veracruz. Loud alarms could be heard in key locations. Then the bombs hit.

At first there was small explosions- mostly hitting encampments located near gun emplacements or bunkers located at street intersections. Then, they started to become big. A large communications array exploded into million pieces, mixing metal with what little remained of the personnel that staffed it. A large tank stationed underneath a highway overpass exploded, causing several key pieces of both the pillars and the highway to fall, eventually caving in the entire section of the road.

Some of the rebel bases were lucky enough to reach their AA guns. A couple of them managed to get a few shots at the planes before bursting into fire. Others ducked for cover as one of the planes strafed the lane that they were at, only to jump back onto their gun to fire at the enemy.

The gray sheeted planes hovered around that section of Veracruz for 20 minutes more until they flew away. Nothing that they left in their wake was unharmed by their weapondry. Not a single rebel encarpment escaped either bullets or missles. Everything was either in fire or punctured by shrapnel.

A faint boom some miles away told that the same action was being committed. A lone rebel soilder got up on his ruined tank and cursed at the unseen enemy. Just as he had ran through all the swear words he knew, part of the building that he was under rumbled. He looked up and quickly got off the tank. Pieces of a former balcony fell on the ruined tank, ruining it for any possible resurrection from it's firey death.

ACKNOWALLGED. YOU MAY REPORT BACK TO BASE FOR ANY REPAIRS OR TO BE RESUPLLIED. Sectors 8-18 will be invaded, troops being deployed to those sectors.

Three squadrons land at the temporary allied base located outside of Veracruz. Several planes bearing a wolf symbol land with holes and small trails of smoke. Some of the technicians on ground run up with some hoses. Others race to the other planes bringing more missles on small carts. A small number of the planes open their canopies with their pilots standing to get a fresh breath of air. Twenty minutes pass with the technicians finishing attaching the missles to the plane's wing. Ten minutes pass with the pilots closing their canopies. Then- the planes bearing a duce and a bulldog fly off. The rest of the pilots in the wolf squadron get out of the planes, helped by wheeled ladders and medics. Helmets are taken off. Their faces are weary, aged, and tired.

Thr section of OV-10 IIs fly towards the city. As they pass over the buildings, several streams of tracers can be seen arcing up towards the shadows of the Buffaloes in the night sky. LRR Uhlans and ANL troops can be seen from the Buffaloes through night vision scopes as they leave the city center.

"ANL ground control, this is Mesquetor lead. We are currently over the city, requesting targeting information, over."
"Triple A, five o' clock."
"Roger that, two."

The Buffaloes avoid the AAA as they fly low over the city. They pass several ANL families out on their roofs during the hot night. At the Veracruz airbase, the LRRAF crews sit around in lawn chairs a safe distance from their aircraft. A cassette player sits on the tarmac next to an OA-2, playing a Rolling Stones casette. The three-person crew sits around not too far away, listening to the music. They wear t-shirts and shorts, and look quite different from the Kay Son pilots.

A pair of OA-2s take off, followed by a group of Gazelle IIs. They fly out towards the outskirts of the city, where a Mechanized Infantry company reported being under fire.

As they near the area, they see tracer fire eminating from the cannons on the company's Sabres, Warriors, and Wiesels. Muzzle flashes from mechanized infantrymen's SA-82 rifles is also visible. Return fire from rebel Aks can also be seen.

The OA-2s lead the helicopters into the attack. They launch their folding fin rockets at the rebel muzzle flashes and pull up. The Gazelles follow suit. The mechanized infantry company, heavily outnumbered, is allowed to escape. The infantrymen jump into their Warriors and the company heads off, through the suburbs into relatively open terrain, where the LRRN had set up a base.

The ANL Troops move towards the city center. JWIs and Red Garudsmen walk stealthly down the dark streets of Veracruz. Some of the people who did not head the air raid siren's warning and stayed in their apartments and houses looked outside from second story windows and from roof tops at the impressive Aztec military. Above them, the LRR and Kay Son forces fly to the city center and drop off guided bombs. Although the city center glowed orange and red from the fires and the loud explosion of the bombs could be heard for miles, the people cheered the Allies.

The troops moved closer the city center, the troops stop and split up. The large Red Gaurd moves off to invade the city center. They move into a bunker and await the order to invade. The JWIs, however, have the difficult task of invading sectors 8-18. As they move towards the sectors, the sounds of the bombs and fires become low again. As they approched the sector, the place was in ruin. Rubble, stone, brick and debris was in the street. Dirt filled the air and some of the buildings were on fire. Fortinatly, all of the people in this neighboorhood had evacuated as soon as the air raid sirens sounded. As the JWIs moved on in the hot steamy night, every sound, every movement, whatever got their attention. On later then 15 minutes after entering the zone, guns sounded from the abandoned buidlings. 4 JWIs fell to the fire. Other jumped out of the way and into the debris, attempting to take cover. They fired back at the rebels. Xihuitl took aim and fired into the windows and door ways of the garrisoned apartments. Although the JWIs could hold their defense, the rebels could not be shot at. Some of the ANL troops got grenades and threw them into the buildings. With firey explosions, buildings crumbled and the machine gun fire one by one lessened. Soon, all the rebel snipers were dead. Now the JWIs had to recapture the buidlings. The JWIs opened the door and fired into the rebels waiting there. Others threw and plunged knives into the rebels. The buildings soon were quiet and dead silence took over. Only the sounds of the bombings could be heard. However, the JWIs triumphantly walked out of the buildings and reformed in the street. Xihuitl turned on his radio and said "This is Sub-Commander Xihuitl, sector 8 cleared and secured." Now they moved on to the next sectors.

The OV-10 IIs watch as the JWI troopers battle the rebels. They circle overhead, and support the JWIs as best they can.

Meanwhile, a company of Uhlans troopers comes across a rebel roadblock. The Land Rovers, Sabres, and Wiesels approach the roadblock, infantry in tow. The rebels stay out of sight, and only fire when the vehicles get close. The rounds from their Ak-47s bounce off the armor of the vehicles, and they fire back with 20 and 30mm cannons. The rebels there surrender, and are escorted out of the city.

The JWIs move on to sector 9. Despite the struggles to capture Sector 8, this Sector was abandoned and not one shot had to be fired. Not a single rebel was encountered. Despite this, the JWIs were tense, hot and nevervous, expecting a enemy around every corner. As the last of sector 9 was secured, the JWIs reformed and moved to sector 10. The ease of sector 9 would not exist in sector 10.

The JWIs walked into this new sector, expecting some rebels. This area was heavily damaged and debris lay in the street. This scene reminded Xihuitl of the pictures of Berlin in World War II when he was in the telpochcalli (a warrior training facility) back when he first joined the JWIs when he was 15. Truely a awesome yet horrific site. It was completely silent, only the sound of the light wind, the crumbling debris and the foot steeps of the JWIs could be heard. All this added to the tension. It was too uneasy to fall like sector 9.

--CRASH!--

One of the apartment building's forward face collapsed, dirt and dust choked the air while adobe and debris went flying. The area then came alive with the sound of machine gun fire. Bullets streaked through the air and hit 15 JWIs. The rest of them scrambled and hid behind debris. As soon as the JWIs were secured and in place, they all began firing back at the rebels. However, the JWIs were fighting them from two directions. Chaos seemed to be imment. 5 more lifeless bodies fell to the ground while the sounds of some of the injuried could barely be heard over the sound of the machine guns. As soon as it seemed like it was going to be lost and they would have to surrender and be tortured to death, one of the JWI leaders came over the radio.

REORGANIZE SO WE ARE IN A L-SHAPED FORMATION. THAT WAY WE CAN-click-"

He was shot.
But despite his death, the JWIs reformed almost instantaniously and began firing again. The rebels from sector 11 backed off and disapperared. After the confirmation of the rebels departure, the JWIs got up from their location and charged into the apartment building. Xihuitl led the charge and within minutes, the aparment was captured.

Sector 10 is clear.

ATTN: COL RIND PAK, CO DUCE 1, BULLDOG

Coordinates: Sector 4, 332 X 894 (In other words, 2.5 miles east of your current position)

After this next bombing run, please report back to airbase so a ground invasion can comence unless area is still to dangerous.

Message to LRR helicopters:
This is ANL command, as soon as the order is given please move to the city center at Sector 4, 332 X 894 to assist ANL and TE troops with ground invasion.

"Roger that, ANL command. We're out of weapons, but the Mi-36 contingent should be happy to comply."

At the Veracruz airbase, a group of 6 Mi-36, modified Mi-24s, lift into the air. They head to sector three, and wait to be contacted by an ANL FAC.

Meanwhile...

The JWIs were on the move again. They re-grouped and marched on to sector 11. Sector 11 was a mess. Building crumbled, more debris. It will take a long time to repair the damage. As the large band of JWIs moved down the sector, figures came closer in the distance. A small band of rebels, tired, beat up, muddy and ill-supplied walked up unarmed to the JWIs. The leader of the band walked up to the JWI's leader and said

"We have fought to the point where we can fight no more. To ask my warriors to fight against your warriors is idiotic at best. We have only a limited amount of ammunition and our supplies are completely depleted. So, I hereby surrender my band to you."

The JWI leader looked straight into the eyes of the rebel commander. He was tired, his eyes showed the tension of sleep deprevation, hunger and war wearyness. "You have fought against us, killed several of our young warriors and destroyed the city. I will make sure your people are treated within the guidelines of international law in war conditions, but I can not gaurntee what the Aztec Soviet government will do to you." Finished the JWI leader.

With that, the 200 rebels were arrested and detained at a base. However, the city is not cleared of the rebels, as the city center is still occupied.

Relieved, the JWIs took the group of rebels to the base were they were detained. The ANL Command, hearing of the capture, offered the JWIs a repreve from duty, as every single JWI has been in combat since the war began. Although hot, tired, sweaty and dirty, the warriors were not ready to throw in the towl. They reformed and went to meet with there comrades and fight until the rebels were defeated.

Meanwhile...

The Red Gaurdsmen stationed near the city center made final preparations for the ground invasion. Fully armed, preapaired and full of patriotism, the Red Gaurd was relieved to hear three bits of encouraging news:

-ANL, Kay Son and LRR helicopters will be providing heavy air cover
-The JWIs have captured one of the last rebel bands in Veracruz
-The JWIs are moving down to help the invasion.

Shortly, the JWIs and Red Gaurd formed up and were ready to go into battle. Shortly before the land invasion, the ANL Command sent a message to the LRR, Kay Son and ANL helicopter battalions:

IF YOU NEED ANY REPAIRS, OR BE RESUPPLIES OR NEED ANY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, YOU ARE AUTHORIZED TO LEAVE THE BATTLE SECTOR UNTIL BATTLE READY AGAIN.

The battle plan:

The Red Gaurd, divided into three battalions, will enter the city center from the north and attack. The Red Gaurd will overwhelm the rebels and they will begin to fall back down to the south. There, the JWIs, divided into two battalions will attack from the south. Kay Son air forces will enter city center from the north-west, LRR air force from the south west, ANL air forces wil come from the East, launching from air craft carriers in the Gulf of Mexico. If the initial invasion fails, Naval armada in teh Gulf will commence missile strikes as soon as ANL, Kay Sonand LRR forces are prepaired. Hopefully, the rebels will surrender when they realize they are trapped.

TO: ANL HIGH COMMAND

HAVE SUPPLIED AND ARE WAITING YOUR COMMAND IN NW SECTOR

The Mi-36s make a high-speed run on a rebel base on the outskirts of the city, accompanied by a pair of OA-10 IIs.

Tracer rounds erupt from the ground below, some making sparks when they bounce off the armored hides of Mi-36s.

The OA-10 IIs make a dive on a cluster of AAA guns, and release folding-fin rockets into the gun pit. They pull away low and relatively fast, strafing rebel troops with cannon fire.

Meanwhile, the Mi-36s can be seen against the night sky by the flames of folding-fin rockets being launched against rebel troops, and the muzzle flashes of their 30mm cannon.

One of the ANL military scouts notices the situtation with the LRR helicopters. Wisely notifying Command, the ANL dispacthed this message:

Meanwhile...


"ALRIGHT, TO BATTLE!" Yelled out one of the commanders of the Red Gaurd. Suddenly, thousand of Red Gaurdmen charged into the city center. Toward southern end of the city center, the JWIs charge into the city center while others occupy vacant buildings and use them for sniping. Meanwhile, the ANL helicopters come in from the ocean. The 1,000 rebels were heavily outnumbered, but not giving up, they continued to take the first shots at the ANL troops. A few in the massive Red Gaurd battalions were hit, but the rebels soon began to run back, fearing for their lives. They were ment by the war cries and the attacks of the JWIs. Soon, the helicopters would be on them, but the rebels still fought, despite it's suicidal fate.

Noticing the rebels would not surrender eaisly by the overwheming numbers, the ANL sent a command to the allied helicopters.

The rebels continued fighting. They fired into the overwhelming ANL troops. But the rebels were running low on ammunition. The ANL troops moved closer in and the individual soilders came visible to the rebels. Still fighting, the rebels refused to surrender. It was suicide, but it was the only honorable way out. However, the helicopters started to come in. Noticing that, the rebels realized the hope was useless and several of the rebels stopped fighting and walked over to the advancing ANL troops, unarmed with their hands up. Others commited suicide and yet still some continued the fighting. However, soon, the ANL troops prevailed. The Veracruz has been secured from the rebels. The outlining areas are being cleared of bases.

ANL PRESS RELEASE:
The Union is in a state of celebration as the city of Veracruz has been secured from the rebels. Although the rebels hold small, makeshift bases in out lining areas, all major rebel advancements have been stopped. The city of Veracruz has taken severe damage and the Soviet government is asking all embassies be moved to other cities until reconstruction can finish.

Message sent to Allied Troops:
ALL TROOPS, REPORT TO BASE FOR DE-BREIFING AND CELEBREATIONS.

OOC: From this point on, the major part of the civil war is over. The last parts will be explaining what will happen with the rebels and the beginning of a new chapter in the ANL.

As the word of the victory in Veracruz spread through out the Union, the people were instantly in a state of celebration. Parades, parties, picnics and other celebrations were held, the Union has been preserved.

However, at the rebel base, things were unusually chaotic. The reports from the stand at Veracruz were horrifing. Up to 2,000 rebels dead, a more coming in. Several have been captured. Realizing the Soviet victory, the leader of the rebels sent a message to all of the rebel command centers.

The rebel commander got up and looked out side. These were the last days he would see the jungle of the nation he fought to change. Soon, he would be in a different nation, working from there.

I applaud the ANL's victory over the rebel army. May good fortune shine upon you in the future days to come. The Parliment has approved 3 million for reconstruction for ANL's infrastructure within the damaged regions. Congratulations.

To Rotovia:
It is most understandable that you could not help us in the civil war. While your assistance would have been appriciated, we are happy, never then less to have you as an ally. With that said, there is no animosity and we thank you for the monitary assistance in Reconstruction. The money will be put into good use.

To Kay Son:
We also thank you for your kind words the monitary assistance. We look forward to happier, glorious days and we will put the money to good use. Your assistance, both militarily, support and monitary has put you in high regard of all Aztecs and we look forward into ushering in a era of peace as our ally.

OOC: Sorry I haven't been on for ages yet again. I'm working like crazy everyday. I can not gaurntee I will be able to stay on everyday, but try to be on NS as much as I can.

IC:
While the nation celebrated the end of the civil war, the rebel central camp was abuzz. Word of a represenative of a nation was coming to allow the defectors into their country. The rebels had to leave soon, supplies were absolutly gone and the ANL troops were expected to make raids on the rebels to get rid of them.

A well dressed represenative walked slowly through the camp. Several of the rebels were injured, dirty, ill and were living in squaler. The represenative came up to the rebel leader and said "Hello, I'm the represenative of the Tomez Militia. We hear you want to defect."

The represenative moved into a small makeshift hut to make the arrangements. Within 30 minutes, the arangements were signed and the conditions, sour, but to the rebels, better then living under Communist rule. The Aztec defectors will be cheap labor for the growing Tomez Militia, the Militia, in return will provide protection and assylum.

The rebel leader said to the represenative "Anything to combat communism." The represenative said "Anything to combat the terrorists that formed the ANL."

OOC: Alright, the story behind this is before the ANL was formed, the population was labor for the Tomez Militia, a militant group that was never heard of (This is all pre-NS.) The Aztecs rebeled against the Militia, won and formed the ANL and adopted democratic Communism as their system. This sort of prequil will be my next big RP, however, I will finish up this RP.
