OK Nitrous Oxide? As in laughing gas? LMAO...I am sorry its a concept but its a gas...Now petrol is a solid so it doesent evaporate...Now maybe you meant Liqioud Nitrogen? But its way to dangerous to have a car run on only that and even that can evaporate....So have NOS tanks in it :) not all based on Nitrous Oxide or something else

Actually, NO2 as in dump-it-in-the-engine-and-up-horsepower-by-half. There are engines that run on pure NO2, mainly racing-spec.

And FYI - petrol is a liquid, not a solid, and evaporates like a bitch - thus the handy pressure release valves on your car's fuel tank. NO2, like any other gas, *is* a gas, and thus cannot evaporate, since it's well, erm, evaporated already. Running vehicles on 'evaporable' substances, to use your term, is no problem - in Europe, late 80-ies and all of 90-ies saw a lot of cars modified to run on natural gas, as a way of saving on fuel. This called for almost no modifications to the engine, except the installation of a gas-tank in the car's boot.
