IG18 A New Tank by FINGS
The Federation of Intelligent Neighbors in collaboration with Gesellschaft has developed a tank to use in their armies. It combines superiority with cost effectiveness. That is to say it is a tank that is good enough to use as the main force of an army, and it’s cheap enough to use in large quantities.

This tank is based upon the Chinese Type 98 tank. It does however use superior armour and weaponry.
Armour
The armour of this tank incorporates titanium encased depleted uranium armour. Armour and bulkheads separate the crew compartment from the fuel tanks. The armour is mainly based on the Chobham design and features layers of ceramic composites. For an extra cost, the top panels of the tank can be designed to blow outwards in the event of penetration by a HEAT projectile.
Armament
This tank is fitted with a 125mm smooth bore gun fed by a carousel autoloader. This gun can fire conventional shells (HEAT), depleted uranium shells and anti-tank missiles.
The commander has a 12.7 millimetre calibre Browning M2 machinegun with a 3x magnification sight. It can rotate 360 degrees and can change its elevation from –10 to +65 degrees.
The loader has a coaxial 7.62 millimetre machinegun.
Engine
The engine for this tank is a 1,200 hp al liquid cooled diesel engine and its very economic due to the relatively light weight of the tank in comparison to other modern tanks (it only weighs 50 tons)
The maximum speed is 55mph (on road) which is quite fast.
Self defence
These options will cost extra money.
There is a laser-warning receiver (LWR) behind the commander’s hatch and a high-powered laser weapon behind the gunner’s hatch. There are also smoke grenade launchers on the side.
Testing information
We decided to test this product by firing at, and taking fire from different tanks. We decided to test it against M1A2 Abrams and T-72 tanks.
Against the Abrams, the IG18 could penetrate the rear and, to an extent, the side armour using depleted uranium shells. It could not penetrate the front. The Abrams however could penetrate the front armour of the IG18 using conventional shells, but only about 50% of the time.
Against the T-72, the IG18 was far superior, it could take out the T-72’s from any side with ease, but the T-72 could only take out the IG18 from the rear on a very limited number of occasions.
We learnt from this that while the IG18 is not as advanced as the Abrams, it could still compete fairly well against them.
Stats
